For having to be rescheduled, I feel maybe he worked too fast to complete. I wasn't able to inspect everything because it was down pouring rain. When I could inspect, that's when things were noticed.
Christine SU-Boxes are a great way to move. I packed several by myself and had movers pack others. All were shipped to my destination and safely stored until I was ready to request them to delivered at my pace and in the order I wanted. The people are super friendly and supportive. I just wish the U-Haul was faster.
Richard LTalk about night and day experiences, the team delivered above and beyond at every level AND helped me solve a problem in a way that was beneficial -- the battery in my phone had died and we needed it to access relevent information. And they tried several things and eventually got my phone charged and we completed the return process. They were truly amazing and that made the encounter from the day before seem even more like a sinister swindle. As I said, Night and Day difference.

NATHANIEL DThe equipment (car trailer) that had been reserved was not available when we arrived!!! We were not notified in advance and had to have it that day. We ended up having to use a car dolly instead. We had no other choice and had to make it work for us. Your personnel were very nice, it wasn't their fault.
Leri JUnhappy that one of the boxes had been moved to another facility without any communication to us from Uhaul. Locks were completely destroyed upon arrival and we were unable to open them without stopping our entire day to go buy cutters and cutting them completely off in order to empty out boxes. We were also charged $100 extra than what we were originally quoted for delivery. We feel that $250 is an extreme amount for delivery of boxes despite location being only 6 miles away. We do not plan on using Uhaul again for these services.

Moving Help movers were the best! Only one thing came through broken and I’m ok with that. Overall it was a good experience in an anxiety filled love!
bonnie aStaff wasn’t rude but the girl at the desk who helped me checkin to pick up my gal was not friendly or nice. I asked for a padlock for the uhaul. I was not told there was already one on there to use, nor how the circular lock worked properly. So I thought it didn’t fit and was stuck driving to another state without the bank of the truck locked. The lock on there to use I thought was just for uhaul use and locked on a side piece.

Sandra CThis location is the best and most well staffed U-Haul facility I have dealt with. The employees at the check-in desk are professional and polite as well as helpful in making choices about the right type of equipment and timing of pick-up and return. The costs are calculated quickly and are easy to assess and understand. The pick-up process is efficient and the individuals handling the equipment in the yard for check-out and check-in are experienced and well trained in how to get you on your way as quickly as possible. I would return to this location without hesitation knowing I would be treated fairly and that my rental experience would be stress free.

Ken CI was forced to check in with the app and then had to go in anyway because they changed my truck. The truck I got had a check engine light on. The app is terrible. It kept freezing up during check in and check out. Uhaul corporate generally is a terrible company and cares more about increasing profit at the expense of the customer experience.

The day we moved I had to call and get it all straightened out after talking with U-Haul numerous times confirming everything the day before with your corporate office representative. She called and changed our truck pick up location and the location changed our reservation without our knowledge. That should have never happened as we didn’t change a thing ourselves. A lot of phone calls and on hold for 35 minutes on moving day. A nightmare to deal with in the midst of moving day. Your phones should be available for an agent to speak to at the location instead of being on hold.35 minutes and I did a 3 way call to get the mess straightened out. I didn’t trust that it would get resolved any other way. U Haul made good on it in the end because of the screw up. Ryan at the National City location took care of it when a girl there told him we had already checked in to unload our stuff. He had originally told me we didn’t have a storage space reserved and I was panicking because I reserved it in advance but once the girl told him then he was fine in taking care of us.

aaron c | Overall ExperienceI had just traveled across country, from North Carolina to San Diego, CA with my 4 children. Up until then we had thoroughly enjoyed our travels. Then there was an issue with me receiving the one-month free storage rental. So it all started on my trip, I received a call from Uhaul saying that I had to choose a return location, because I hadn't actually chosen one. I explained that there was one listed on my paperwork, they said I couldn't return there. So, I chose another one. The one I chose didn't have the size storage rental I needed, so he suggested another one since I wanted to return at the same location I would receive the storage unit. So I chose this location, the national city location. I called just to make sure everything was good and to make sure they in fact had a first floor unit. Johnathan explained that I wasn't eligible to receive the one-month free storage rental because I rented a one-way trailer and not a truck. So, after he tried to explain, I ended up calling corporate and spoke with a gentleman there who explained that I was in fact eligible for the free month and made my reservation. I had requested and reserved a first floor unit. Upon checking in, Sabrina, I think that was her name, was sarcastic and rude and said there was not a first floor unit available. I explained my hardship and that I was a disabled veteran and it would be more difficult for me to have a unit that wasn't on the first floor and that's why I reserved it. She said reservations were basically pointless and that they really operated on a first come, first serve basis. So, I just went along with it and took a 2nd floor unit. By the way, just to make sure, me and my kid's found a first floor unit when we got to the storage area, we took a picture for proof, which sucked and proved what type of person we were dealing with when we checked in. She was already gone for the day after we unloaded and returned the trailer, but I just wanted to share this part of the experience. So sad that there are people like this.

This is one of my favorite storage facilities and I would not hesitate to rent from them in the future.

Frank H | First ImpressionsDuring the start of the pandemic to when I moved out, Uhaul's process was a nightmare while they raised rent due to the pandemic while other company's were helping their customers save during trying times. The staff was rude every time I called, changing the payment dates (I switched jobs in between the time I was in San Diego) was terrible as you had to "Move Out" and then pay the day you want to "Move In" which no on has time to do. Terrible experience and the facility was disgusting with dead insects on the ground and apparently we had to pay extra for better cleaning but there's no improvement.

In National City CA, (a town that get only 12 inches, of rain a year) a major roof leak shouldn't, happen. That's poor and deferred maintenance; that cost me hundreds of dollar's, plus inconvenience, With return trip to town, to handle it. The whole floor flooded. Myself and a lot of renters, suffered greatly. The alarm system works sometimes and is not dependable. It work when I first moved in. But, I asked for help, with and received, a cold shoulder. My unit, I was dark, so I would bring flash lights. Ms Sabrina Felix, is a step above, most people in customer service, and suggested I get a dolly because my truck had no ramp. (2 of my items were well over 125 pounds each). Ms. Felix get a 5 stars rating. Bye for now Mr Thomas Mccullough P.S. Ask me about my U-haul, truck rental that I returned on 12/11/2021

We ended up getting new cards nearly each time which was frustrating since the cards didn’t work—even after employee assistance. I personally went 5 times to the office and my husband went at least this many times if not more as well just to get access to our unit we prepaid for in advance. This card malfunction also caused us not to be able to enter the facility after hours, which difficult when working during the day. While it was nice to get the first month free, it was more hassle than expected.

We called the general manager to advise of the issue and was told there was nothing that could be done Sunday evening so I had to drive truck back home. I called the owner of the company and left a message and still have yet to hear from him after leaving detailed gripe. I moved my stuff to my storage Sunday evening and was not able to unload my rental truck and received no help until the next day. The worst service I’ve ever encountered with a truck rental and storage facility. I had to take off of work the next day losing a day’s pay to resolve the issues caused by your company and I am extremely unhappy with your service and will comment on yelp as I always do with “terrible” customer service. Last but not least I was given a truck that had absolutely no gas in it and my first stop I had to make was to a gas station which was also my first experience with a truck rental company.

When management changed I for an email that said they would not be offering that discount any longer. I asked why and they said because they have a new manager and he doesn’t want to honor it. I was pretty upset. I told them I would leaving the facility and I was told that I would have to get my stuff out before the next bill due date or o would be charged for another months even though it was going to be only 2 days past my due date. I reserved a uhaul truck to remover my things and when I got there I was told that I would have to provide a phone number of someone I know that wasn’t with me to be able to get in touch with someone I’d I stold the truck! She said that they get a lot of trucks stolen from that area, National city, and that is a policy there. She said that they would HAVE to be able to tak to someone and if they didn’t answer the call I would have to give them another number for someone else! I was so upset to be accused and called a thief but now on a Saturday morning at 7am they want to disturb someone I know who doesn’t even know anything about my move to verify they know me and will be contacting them in case I steal a 15foot uhaul truck!?! The woman at the front was very rude and highly unprofessional she does not know how to explain policies without accusing or offending a long time customer. After I told her how ridiculous this was she said or my manager can sign off on it. I said ok I would like to tak to your manager he came out and was very aloof and didn’t seem to care about anything and he said the same thing until I said but she just said you could sign off on this and then he said “ok” and then walked away!!! After getting the truck i was told it was ready and it had the keys in it so my son took it and went to the back to start unloading my things and then an associate parked behind my car with another uhaul truck and said this is your truck. I said that we already have our truck but he literally could not understand what I was saying and when he finally got it he said I will walk over there and drive the truck back to the front and as he walks away he said very loudly the F word very angrily!!! Unbelievable! It also did not have the dolly that I rented either and when I went back in to tell them the same woman said just Take one that is displayed in the front outside, very unorganized and not helpful at all. So part of my experience at this location was great with the old manager. They are now very unorganized and don’t care about their customers. I am so glad I am not giving them any more of my money. I have used uhaul for years but now I will go to a different company for all of my moving needs.

The office closed at eight, which was an inconvenience. The staff is great. Very cool and friendly people that are willing to answer questions and accommodate. They are always cleaning. The place was spotless. Everybody always says national city is gross and dangerous, but it never felt like that.
