Stephen AI am writing this letter as a formal complaint regarding the unacceptable behavior exhibited by U-Haul representative, Justin F, at the Lincolnshire, Illinois location, on 4/14/2024 at approximately 10:40 AM. Upon my arrival at the U-Haul facility to return a trailer, I was dismayed by Mr. Justin F's disrespectful and unhelpful attitude. Despite being the sole customer present at the time, Mr. Justin F callously instructed me to manage the trailer return entirely on my own. When I politely requested assistance with unhooking the trailer (due to a torso injury), Mr. Justin F responded with disdain, rolling his eyes and dismissing my request. In a patronizing manner, Mr. Justin F insisted that unhooking the trailer was a simple task that I should be capable of performing independently. Despite my pleas for assistance, he begrudgingly agreed to provide a demonstration, but made it clear that I should not expect further assistance in the future. This behavior is deeply concerning and raises questions about the standard procedures for trailer returns during normal working hours at U-Haul locations. As a customer, I deliberately chose to return the trailer within these hours under the assumption that I would receive the necessary assistance from U-Haul staff. However, Mr. Justin F's negative attitude to provide basic support has left me feeling frustrated and undervalued. Furthermore, Mr. Justin F's implication that customers should be able to handle all aspects of trailer returns independently is both unreasonable and discriminatory, particularly towards individuals with physical limitation. I respectfully request that U-Haul management thoroughly investigate this matter and take appropriate improvement action against Mr. Justin F for his unprofessional conduct. Additionally, I urge you to clearly publish company policies regarding customer assistance during trailer returns process to ensure that all customers are treated with the respect and support they deserve.

The grounds are secured well with fencing and barriers. The gate was easily operated with a FOB provided to us or personal access code. We’ll be using this facility again and told all of our friends who also have trailers that need storing.

All interactions were professional, all items arrived on time, placed in the desired location, and all items were delivered without damage. And shipping was nearly half the cost. I had furniture and china. How about that!

Michael MI have never had an issue with uhaul and I've used them for over 10 years. I recently dropped a vehicle off here and the employee was rude. The location I picked up the vehicle from gave me the wrong dolly which was not a problem for us. We didnt have any issues using the utility dolly to move the appliances. The employee Christopher S was yelling at me like it was our fault the location gave us the wrong dolly. He complained how he will have to do extra work because of this never once was concerned if we had trouble with the move because of the wrong dolly. He was acting like he was the customer and I was the employee the way he was yelling at me. He confirmed the gas was correct and I left. I knew after the interaction about the dolly I should have taken a picture of the condition of the vehicle. I called to complain about the dolly situation to toll free number and they refunded me the difference. Later today I was charged 48.10 for the gas being short when the employee said it was fine. I drove 31 miles, the truck has 40 gallons in a tank and uses 10 gallons per mile. I used 3 gallons and I have receipt proving I put in more than 3 gallons. Yet this location claims i used I used 5 gallons and didn't put any gas in. The truck came with less than 1/4 of a tank and the location states there was 1/8 of tank when I dropped it off. I called the location I picked it up from and they confirmed it was because the gas was short and that I received text message to come back before they charged me for the gas being under. I never received any messages. I only got an email. I tried calling the Buffalo Grove but no one was picking up so I called the Fullerton location. The manager there was extremely helpful. I have used the Fullerton location several times and never had an issue. I will never use the Buffalo Grove location and will go to another company if I can't use another location closer in the suburbs after my experience with Christopher S. He should not be working in customer service and needs to be retrained for his aggressive behavior. He lied was being deceitful about the gas to cause me inconvenience because of the dolly situation. I have never met someone being so spiteful at uhaul. I will continue to call this location until I speak to their general manager about how terrible his employee is.

John HWhen I started the trip within ten minutes the check engine light came on. I checked the fluid levels and they were good so I proceeded on my trip. When I arrived at my location I had some wet boxes and furniture. The truck leaked causing damage to a part of my record collection and an antique cedar chest. I was very disappointed in the quality of the rental a 20 ft truck

Zbigniew BJoe is a very helpful manager. He answered all of our questions on a Sunday morning when we called about the facility. He also helped us choose a spot we felt comfortable in parking our RV. And he walked us through the access gate to make sure we had no problems with our codes or access into the lot. Great service!

Cynthia M | Overall ExperienceWhen I selected this facility I did so because I was able to pre-reserve a 1st floor handicap accessible unit online and I also confirmed this was the case in the phone. When I arrived they re-assigned me to a second floor unit with no accessibility (this was an issue for us as we needed the accessibility function). The employee Joseph told me you can’t really select a unit it’s first come first serve. I was also supposed to receive a free lock at check-in Joseph told me that was not the case and charged me for a lock. Once he took me to the unit a lock was sitting there for me which he took away from me and said that wasn’t mine even though the welcome letter had my name on it. I receive the same rude service from Joseph each dealing I had with him. He was rarely in the store and you had to find him in the garage or outside smoking. Finally the floors of the hallway to my unit had heavy mud tracked on the floors for weeks before I checked out so it was not being cleaned.

There was construction going on at this location to where the location was shutting down certain weeks without giving heads up. There were no emails, text messages, nor calls sent out. The staff was rude when it came to pulling into the location that was hard to access because of the construction. I was forced to move my items earlier than intended. As I just so happened to retreive some items one Friday (October 15th), I was told that I would not be able to retrieve any of my items after Monday (October 18th) because of more construction (This will be the second time this location was shut down for construction purposes) Had I not drove up there that Friday I would not have known that. To top it off, I was charged a $25 cleaning fee for basically using the dumpster at the facility. Only 3 items was placed in the dumpster at the facility, but no items would have been left behind had I been able to get the my things out at my normal intended date. Although the location was clean, the hassle was not worth the business.

dave b | First ImpressionsI reserved and paid for a 1st floor ADA compliant unit. When I was brought to the unit it was up a flight of stairs with no ramp or elevator access. When I told the attendant about this he said just because you reserve it doesn’t mean you get it. It’s first come first serve. I said well I am paying $10 more a month for that selection. He didn’t give me any other options. I also was supposed to get a free lock upon checkin he made me pay for it. Then when he opened my unit took my lock that was provided inside the unit with a note.
