Great staff here I made the mistake of renting a truck that wasn't going to be big enough I called and they switched me to a bigger one with no hassle or fees and the next day when I was still trying to move they extended my rental time for no charge just to help and nice I would highly recommend these guys.

I was told the pads were $10 per dozen--nowhere did I read or was I told this was $10per dozen per day. I have a receipt for one amount and my bank was charged a different higher number. The manager gave me 30 dollars back on the pads but no tax and then said he shouldn't have given me anything when I asked about the tax.

Although 7am. I drove there from NC to retrieve my belongings and found a pad lock on my unit!!!! Thank goodness an employee was their attending to trucks that were brought in. He took the pad lock off.

I’ve never been to that location before so I needed help finding my truck and supplies, the girl working seemed like she could care less to help me find what I needed. Store is understaffed. When I arrived no one working there was present for at least 20 minutes. I tried calling uhaul main number but I could not reach a human being. When the two employees returned from inspecting vehicles they were nice, but they were slowed down by the computer system. The employees were the only good thing about this experience. Your app. I downloaded it: Unusable. Your employees were good but overworked and lacked the tools and authority to operate well.

All the systems were shut down during checking out the truck. I spent a lot of time to check out. While I was driving, One of tires got a flat tire during driving. This happened after only driving about 20mi. However, the survive provider changed the tire quickly and I was able to arrive safely. Please check all tires frequently.

I wasn’t clear with one of the processes, and instead of helping me out, the young lady got an attitude and started to be condescending. I believe she might’ve been mad because one of her nose rings looked infected, and she was just taking her anger out on the customers, the truck was very dirty. It had food left over in it water bottles and even lip gloss. The truck smelled really bad.

Two months in advance of my move from NC to IN I spoke with the manager and secured a large storage unit. U-Haul provided me a location where I could reserve the rental truck for my move. However when I visited that site in NC they advised me that they do not rent out trucks that large from that facility. I then found another U-Haul location that accepted the quote. I reserved a truck and car dolly for four days for a one way trip from NC to IN. I picked up the truck and dolly in NC. My movers loaded the truck and secured my vehicle. My grandson drove from NC to IN and we unloaded the truck at the IN storage facility in a day and a half, instead of the four days. I requested a reimbursement of two days for the early return delivery and my request was denied. I needed the storage unit from October 28,2023 through February 3,2024. The manager was then going to charge me for the entire month of February! I requested that if he would not give me a refund on my early return that he at least not charge me for January 29 through February 3 as a compromise. He agreed to that but then never entered it into the computer system. When I went in on January 29, 2024 we had to have the entire conversation and agreement re-memorialized. He entered info into the computer and assured there would not be a non-payment lock put on my unit. I requested a printed copy of what was entered into the computer. However, on February 1, 2024, my moving crew and I arrived to find my access card to the facility would not work and there was a non-payment lock on my unit. I went to the office and waited while staff counted money and closed before any assisted me. I provided the written agreement signed by the manager and the employee did come to the unit and remove the lock. We we allowed to load the truck but he couldn’t do anything to eliminate the issue regarding my access card. He did stay an extra 30 minutes before he locked the large doors and advised me I would only be allowed to use the single door, I would just have to keep it propped open. My crew loaded half the truck and we then went back to finish th remainder of the job on February 2. I was extremely disappointed that everything the manager said would not be an issue ended up being an issue. Additionally, early in November when I went to the storage unit to put something into storage there was a man with a backpack that kept loitering outside and also wandered around the inside aisles of the storage facility. I needed to use the restroom while I was there, there is only one bathroom in the facility. The sign on the door indicated it was “vacant” however the door wouldn’t open. Someone, which turned out to be the man with the backpack had to be sitting on the floor obstructing access. I advised my grandson that I was going to report the issue to the office and as I was headed down the hallway the man with the backpack came out of the bathroom. I still reported the incident.

Only thing, shovel the snow around the truck as I had to move through ankle deep snow to get into my truck and remove the snow from the windows. Other than that process was fast and easy.

A bit more communication with customers in the future about their U-Box and whether or not it's being stored vs. returned would help others avoid what happened with my order in the future. Other than that, everything was great. The staff are friendly and helpful, and whenever I had a question or concern it was answered. U-haul even has a leave-a-box-take-a-box program, and I was excited to take advantage of that and leave boxes for future customers.

Staff at this U-Haul location were very helpful, obviously a high volume location with everything needed for packing, TV boxes, packing paper, wardrobes, were all available. The truck had a check engine light on, but didn't seem to affect the function of the truck. This was local move; wouldn't have felt good about that for a long trip!

Great service to moving in to storage unit ..

I originally had my contract reservation for A&J equipment in Frankfort, IN. When I arrived on Saturday Dec 30th to pick up my truck. I was told that there were none available. I showed them the contract reservation and asked what had happened. No clear reason for the issue. They then had to transfer my contract to Lafayette. This is another 40 miles from my house. No savings or credit was given for the Uhaul issue.

I rented a auto dolly after I left the rental center going down the road I saw that the straps where dragging behind I thought they where straped in when I pick it up apparently they where loose I stopped and straped them down maybe you agents should check that they are before renting them out because they where dragging on the road when I notice them

Reserving a unit was easy to do online. I went into the facility on move in day and the representative that helped me was friendly and ran through everything related to access. I really like this location and would highly recommend. Even when they were slammed on what has to be one of the busiest days, college move-in, the staff was wonderful to work with. Move out was also easy to do online.

I made my reservation at the West Lafayette location in January 2023 for a unit in July. I called the location the day before to confirm my unit and was told that specific units aren't assigned until paperwork in completed upon arrival but that they had units. When we arrived (after driving to 2 hours!) I was told that the system over reserved and they did NOT have our unit (note that I made my reservation 6 months earlier) the guy told me they did have some units but could not give me one since they had reservations on them???!! WHAT??!! The guy was very rude and dismissive and only called the Lafayette location to see if they had any units. Thankfully they did and we ended up there. They staff there was helpful, friendly and professional (in stark contrast to the other guy) The cost of the unit was almost twice the rate of the other location but it is climate controlled so I get it. I called U-Haul to complain about the situation at the West Lafayette location and was told that reservations mean nothing and units are sold on a first-come-first serve basis. WHAT??!! Why take reservations if they mean nothing and why not tell people this?? The agent said she couldn't do anything compensate for the trouble I had but emailed the manager of that location to report the issue and asked him to contact me. I have never heard from him. My rating have been Poor were it not for the positive experience I had at the Lafayette location. Overall my opinion of U-Haul has been negatively impacted by this experience and I will think twice before using your services again and will NEVER recommend the West Lafayette location.

The only issue is closing time of 8 pm is too early. It should be open till 10 or 11pm. And the space assigned to us was too far from entrance. Entrance from the other side should have been kept open.

It took me forever to find my storage unit. I wish that there was a map during my check in process that would have helped. Instead, I wasted countless time walking around trying to find it. The arming and disarming process is not clear . And still is not clear to me. Otherwise the facility is clean. Staff helpful.

I thought your staff was very friendly helpful, and once we received the truck, it was great. The problem comes in with your call center that makes the reservations. I was told it would be no problem to arrive early and pick up truck, only to arrive and be told we couldn't get it, which cause problems with the rest of the day. The wait times in line both times we were there were long, too. If it were not for how clean the facility was and how friendly the staff was, I would have rated my experience much lower, but they improved the situation. Hopefully the problems will be addressed. I was told it was a common problem with the call center not checking reservations.

The management and staff at the Lafayette location is excellent. Back in May the West Lafayette location canceled my reservation and their customer service was extremely poor. Luckily the Lafayette location was able to assist us with great service and accommodating our needs. We will use them again next summer.

When I arrived to check into my unit that I have had reserved for at least two months, I was told that the unit was not available and that there were 5 other people who had reserved the same size on the waiting list ahead of me. What's the point of reserving a unit for a specific date if that unit will not be available on that date? This was very irresponsible on behalf of Uhaul and could have put us in a bind, but luckily there was a different sized unit available that we were able to get. Then, there was trouble with trying to disable the security for my unit. This resulted in extra time trying to figure it out, and the alarm went off on us when we first entered. I don't believe any of this was the fault of the employee, who was trying his best to get things figured out for us. However, the whole experience was very negative and left me disappointed in Uhaul. If I reserve a unit for a date and it's confirmed, that unit should be available to me.

We paid for a lock from your store. In the process of making multiple trips yesterday moving things into our storage unit, we lost the key to our lock. The employees told us there was only one guy to call to get our lock off and he doesn’t work on the weekends. You should tell people that the 50 miles that we prepaid don’t count for in town use. You still have to pump gas and they will still take the “mileage” charge. So you pay ONCE for their prepaid “50mi” and a SECOND CHARGE: to pump gas in the vehicle EVEN-THOUGH ITS BEEN PREPAID. And if you don’t there is THIRD CHARGE OF $15 if you don’t pump gas. LIKE WTF WE PAY DOUBLE FOR GAS. It’s a rip off honestly either precharge and leave it at that or have them pump gas in the vehicle and not double charge people. I would NOT recommend renting a vehicle from this company if that second charge is a norm!

It was difficult to find climate controlled storage near our home. We were so glad to find what we needed even though it was 35 miles from our new home building site. The staff were exceptional and the facility was very clean. We were so thankful for the moving carts that were provided. It was an excellent facility for storage of our household furniture and clothing.

While when I got storage their policy pro rated any amount you had if you didn't.need the storage. They then updated their policy where your fraud of money. Every place pro rates. They also try to make.you fill there trucks up more then what they are at. The trucks breaks are crap and is going to get someone killed.

Had a reservation for 2/14 and was told the cash drawer would not open. Cops were called because we then were not able to move in time. Next morning when they were able to get drawer open, they didn’t reschedule reservation that was not honored and only put in we were using it for some hours. Was charged for 2 days when it should have been free in my opinion. Terrible experience.

Because of the construction at our uhaul location, we had to move one of our two units to another unit. Besides the inconvenience of having to be present to lock and unlock the unit, the process was quite painless. The movers remained in communication with me and took pictures after they were done. They were very courteous! My only complaint overall would be the lack of lighting. It’s sufficient enough to see, but it was a challenge to see items when you’re looking for something stacked at the bottom of a pile in a unit. I had to use my cell phone flashlight. A light for each unit is probably overkill, but having lights more appropriately placed would be helpful.

The staff member I worked with was a huge help. I needed to upgrade to a larger unit before moving in and he did that with no issues. Walked me through everything including the security system, which I would not have figured out on my own. He even helped me get some of my larger furniture out of the truck and onto a dolly, which he did not have to do but it was a huge help. He went above and beyond. Storage units are everywhere but his service is why I would suggest this location.

Local u haul mgr stated i have a $160 balance bc I wasn't moved out before the 13th. U haul at no time can force renew. I chose not to renew and I should have no balance. If u haul deems a late fee of $15 is necessary, I will pay it, but I do not owe $160. Mgr was rude, and she issued a no trespass order on myself when she was the one in the wrong. I will never recommend this particular location to anyone. Ever

The extra charge for 24 hour access was kind of an issue for me with the rates being what they were. Also, once the office closes, the sliding doors are locked which makes access difficult. I had a hard time understanding this because you need your card for access.

I left because I could save $71 a month on a same-size unit. So I moved my things to Affordable Family Storage, right next door. Also, the ceiling above my unit dumped lots of little dirt and what looked like plaster chips on top of my furniture. The facility outside of my unit was clean, but the ceiling above my unit was not in good repair and left debris on my things. It wasn't so much that I'd move, but it was annoying. Yet when I learned I could have a better roof and save big $$$ each month, I bolted. Finally, I was told at the beginning of my stay with U-Haul, that we pay a month ahead, so imagine how disappointed I was at the end to learn you would not refund me my unused days after just paying rent through October 27th. I call that theft. As long as I live in Lafayette, I cannot recommend your facility to anyone. I am fully aware that eventually the rates will go up at my new unit. But until that time, I am saving $852 a year over what you charged. Since I am on a fixed income, THAT is a LOT of money!

On our way cleaning out the storage I was approached in a rude manner by a woman who worked there. However, Kathi has been a joy! I’ve stored there for the last 3 years and Kathi has been attentive. Caring and thorough. If there was a problem Kathi would quickly address is and rectify it with the best customer service possible. It outweighs the actions of others there. I would recommend anyone to store here just to have that same great experience that Kathi has provided.

Thank you for providing a great, well maintained and climate controlled unit for us to put our most important stuff in while we had a huge transition in our life. All of our stuff came out exactly how it was out in. Nothing was damaged from moisture or pests. Thank you to your staff at the Lafayette, IN store to taking care of us. Load 24 hours applies to storage units only. I was subject to office hours which were restricted due to staffing shortages. They were nice but I would take the box to my home next time. Worked well.

I called ahead so my u-box would be ready for us to unload and the u-box was not available. They told my husband that we should have called! However they were able to get the u-box pulled quickly.

This was the worst experience I've had with any sort of customer service. The staff was incompetent at their jobs and disorganized. The computers routinely malfunctioned. I would never recommend this.

When I was between apartment leases for a week, U-Haul was a big help storing my belongings. The staff was accommodating, and the free month of storage with truck rental was more than enough.

The storage facilities are nice. There were not enough key cards to go around during this busy time of year, so the alarm in the storage area was a constant nuisance.
