CAROLINE Y | First Impressionsi got a message around 6 months ago after a storm that water got in and we should check our units and let you guys know if there was water damage. there is a hole in the roof above mine that was clearly visible. i let you guys know and had to leave for the mainland about a month later. nothing was done, because when i came back from the mainland to clear out my stuff, the hole is still there and clearly water had been getting in that entire time. half my boxes had disintegrated and i had a pile of bedding, clothes and a mattress that were covered in mold and still wet from whatever recent rain there was.

I couldn't move in that day, the staff reserved the unit for me. so very happy and grateful! I called & spoke with the manager & she quickly had a remedy that allowed me to store my things (GENIUS). The elevator door button was quickly fixed the next morning; MUCH APPRECIATED. The other drawback trying to enter or leave the facility (arming/dis-arming) takes a few times to engage because the machines do not read the cards on the first few tries. These things do not detract from the employees, service, and facility.

This senior citizen was looking for an easier access locker location, but all in all it was a very pleasant experience.

He said he had to put extra moving blankets, dolly, and flat wheeled dolly to check out, but that I would not get charged. I asked for a receipt because this didn't seem right. And on it, I was charged for 12 moving blankets not the 6 I reserved, 2 dollys (we only reserved one and used one) and 2 flat dollys (reserved one only). Overall I was over charged $20. I tried to call today, but no one answers.

I got lucky with good timing because when I arrived ready to move in with the promo option I was able to acquire a convenient unit that also met the dimensions for needed space. I would forget my card but Mark was there to help me and eventually replace my access card once I lost it. I had an abrupt move in location so I had to pack up and go -- the staff were so helpful and flexible to accommodate my move because I did not have to give 30 day notice and I was able to get prorated or even refunded because I moved the day that I was renewing so when I got charged for a new month I was able to get refunded/reversal since I moved out same day of renewal.

Yvette G | First ImpressionsI plan on doing a detailed explanation of the UHaul facility in Kakaako later. I was falsely accused of something, and even as I type this today, I still don't know what it is. Someone by the name of Keisha prevented me from parking on the street because she wanted a customer to park in that spot. That CUSTOMER was white and I am a person of color. That CUSTOMER was renting a van? for the day. I was a CUSTOMER that has never NEVER been LATE on a payment going back to 2017. Talked to the General Manager, Ipo. She told me Keaisha had no right telling me not to park on the street. Someone from the C&C had stopped by to inform UHAUL, that the street was PUBLIC parking. Ipo said she will tell Keisha she was wrong. Since then, Keisha had an attitude towards me and then approached me one day saying she was going to have me evicted for doing two things I never heard of. I kept asking her what she was talking about, but she just walked away yelling at me that I WILL BE EVICTED. In a matter of hours, Ipo told me I was being evicted. I have since talked to a few customers who have acknowledged how Keisha verbally attacks people of color and threatened many with eviction. If you are a person of color, UHAUL in Kakaako may not be a wise choice for you. It is one of the cheapest storage facilities in Hawaii but we all know what you get when you go cheap.
derek y | Overall ExperienceEverything was great until one of the employees accused us of damaging a vehicle, which was not true. They always park a vehicle close to the surfboard storage, which makes it more difficult to get out large paddle boards from that area. The employee said my paddle board dented a pickup truck hood and was trying to charge me for it. He was covering up for his own failure to notice damage from a prior rental. Thankfully the manager was sensible enough to realize the physical impossibility of that situation. Still it was a big hassle.

After revealing, I was overdue in picking up my cargo van from the Kilihau store, she offered to notify and change the time which made it convenient for me. OUTSTANDING! I was very grateful and relieved the stress I was facing. When I return to my storage locker today, I will obtain her name and those after her shift to continue this letter of appreciation. Just about every time , I struggled with my items falling off the cart. Other than the doors, everything was great!!
