When closing out my unit I had paid in full for 3/22 thru 4/22. I closed the unit on 4/13 and was told I would not get any money back even though I did not have the unit for the entire month!!! Not good business practice!

Tom BThe cargo van was dispatched to me completely filthy, both in the front and back. I understand around this time of year with all the snow, salt and freezing temperatures, it’s challenging to keep the interiors clean, but there was trash in all both doors and a tack on the passenger seat. ALL FOUR TIRES had low air pressure in the 50s/60s when the PSI should be at 80. This is not something I would ever complain about nor ask for a refund, simply just inform the manager or whomever is working upon returning it since this isn’t usually my experience. I understand I am not leasing a luxury vehicle but I actually do expect them to be relatively clean - at least all trash removed - and more importantly, safe. The tire pressure is an issue and should be routinely checked especially during the colder months. Despite filling up the cargo van to a full level prior to returning it, I was charged as if the van were brought back with only a quarter tank. I suspect whoever checked the vehicle didn’t check the gas gauge but the temperature gauge which is just an absolute amateur move. I have a receipt for the gas. I sincerely doubt this vehicle was dispatched after I dropped it off at 2 PM so I would like an employee to double check the gas level first thing tomorrow morning. You can also check ALL my past reservations and you’ll find I’ve never failed to fill the gas tank. Failure to do so is just incredibly rude and inconsiderate to the next customer. The Clinton U-Haul location closes at 3 PM on Sundays. I was disappointed when I noticed the error at 2:45 PM - and when I immediately called in hopes to catch someone before the location closed, no one answered at the store location. I called 10 times. This is just pure laziness - either staff didn’t want to answer a customer’s call so close to closing or they left early. This experience was just completely frustrating and unacceptable and this is coming from a customer who does not spend hundreds at U-Haul annually, I spend thousands. And this is the first time I have ever complained. I would like a full refund and I want my email forwarded to the current, new manager at the Clinton location so she’s aware of the situation. Since she took over the store location, the location itself appears much more organized and clean. She should be aware of this situation.

Kelly SNot much expertise from the attendant regarding ball or hitch capacities. Since I had done the research in advance, I did not need much guidance and input. When I arrived there seemed to be a question about the availability of the trailer I had reserved months earlier - this was a momentary point of unacceptable stress. It turns out, the location had the equipment, but if they had not, it would have created a significant scheduling and financial problem for me. A reservation should be guaranteed or U-Haul should have responsibility to accommodate their commitments or pay a significant accommodation fee.
Lee SThe truck automatic transmission would get stuck in high range on hilly terrain, i think the torque converter might be starting to have issues. This is potentially bad as the truck can over rev if the hill descent is long.

WILLIAM CTrailer fell off on a main road in traffic. Rented a truck and motorcycle trailer. The employee connected the trailer and took a photo. I drove a few miles down the road and when I looked in the rear-view mirror the trailer was flopping all over the place and somebody on the sidewalk was hollering at me. I had a drive further down the road so I could stop safely. When I got to a stop sign I jumped out and saw that the trailer wasn't connected and was basically just being dragged by the safety chain which scared the living @#$% out of me. A few people were shouting at me as if it were my fault, which was very embarassing to say the least. I'm glad this happened before I got to the highway. The employee I dealt with that day was very professional and courteous, and it was a positive experience up to that point. Unfortunately I think he just sat the trailer on top of the ball hitch and tightened, not realizing it wasn't seated on the ball. I understand mistakes do happen so I feel awful for him. Nobody goes to work wanting this to happen to a customer.
William RThe motorcycle trailer towed great, worked very well and very easy to load, tie down and unload. My only concern was there was not a spare tire, which I did not need but would not have liked waiting for a support team to find me and bring a tire if needed. Overall, very happy and would do this again.
Steven B170,000 miles on truck, driver seat belt did not function correctly. probable warped rotor on front brakes - terrible rocking when braking. Squealing/squeaking in front end (bearing). Employees were all very good, hence the 5 star is for them. Corporate would be more honest saying truck is 12' + 3' and not 15'. Sure the diagram shows actual 12' box but markets it as 15'. It's like "read the tiny print". I rented one of your vans and I knew exactly what I was getting. Now I have to make another trip based on everything not fitting. No wonder a friend uses Penske.

Wesley EMy gripe is with the gas reporting. I received the truck with 1/4 tank, and returned it with what appeared to be 1/4 tank but it was reported as an 1/8. I traveled 31 miles and added over 5 gallons of gas. These were normal roads and I did not use any air conditioning, so unless this truck only gets 6 mpg, I was unfairly charged for it.
Matthew RTruck was somewhat dirty - not too dirty but clearly very well used. Previous renter had left items in the truck which was missed by UHaul crew during checkin and I had to remove/discard. I would have appreciated truly clean and sanitized vehicle. Windshield was coated in a film - which I can only assume was from smoking/vaping/etc. I know its a rental truck and standards are lower, but still pretty gross.
David NYour team who helped me pick up and return the truck were *excellent.* They were both professional and courteous while still being quick and efficient, especially during a difficult time of year (Back to School and End of Month). I would happily return to U-Haul of Clinton for my next U-Haul rental.

Luis Melendez Rivera had by mistake locked my unit so many times and I had to call him to open my place. It's been a rough experience. Unfortunately, I am continuing to receive late notice from Luis Melendez Rivera while I no longer rent. Will you please ask him to do a better job and no longer send those notices?

We had to let the moving company leave and go to a different town to unload the entire truck the next day by ourselves. A tall particle board book shelf (not great material to begin with) it swelled from the dampness. And I also had to dispose of a couch due to mold. I didn’t bother to fill out a claim for these items as they weren’t great to begin with! If you need to store something long term you may want to find a climate controlled facility. If you just need some space for plastic totes and things of that nature this facility would be perfect. They’re so great to work with for renting their trucks also!
