Lastly there may be a water leak in unit 340. All together friendly and helpful staff, none of my possessions seem damaged from the leak, and the facility seemed to be in great condition.

Kevin LubbeI was given a truck with an almost empty gas tank. I mean, almost literally on E. After asking why I would be given a truck with no gas, the attendant responded, “Sometimes customers bring it back like that.” Then, I was told that I would receive a credit of $19.99 if I bring the truck back on a quarter of a tank, which I did, having spent nearly $50 in order to do so. My receipt does not reflect that credit at all. Additionally, when I reserved the truck via U-Haul’s 800 number, I was quoted $23-something for a 15’ local area rental. When I arrived to pick the truck up, I was charged $29.99. After asking about the price discrepancy while being shown the charges screen on the attendant’s computer and after accepting insurance fee, I was asked to pull up my reservation via email from my phone to prove the initial quote. Well, of course, the rate was changed AND the insurance that I had just accepted was included in the quote. Obviously the attendant knew that it was already changed. I have used U-Haul’s service before (even for a cross-country move from N. Carolina to Texas) and I have NEVER been so disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience. Margaret A WilliamsNot only did the charge me for the gas as mentioned earlier, I told the girl working in there that I had some used boxes in great condition to give to whoever could use them in the truck. She asked me were they UHaul boxes and I told her yes. She mentioned that I could get a refund if I had the receipt. I went to my car, got the receipt but told her that the boxes were used. She misunderstood me the first time and said that I couldn't get a refund but that the boxes were okay in the truck along with the pads that I had folded up. She was busy with another customer and asked was an email receipt alright and I told her yes. When I finally saw my email receipt, I saw that I had been charged 25.00 for the boxes that I was donating. When I called the store to speak to the manager, the woman said that it was because of the boxes in the truck and that they don't take used boxes because there is no place to put them in the store. That wasn't what I was told when I dropped the truck of. I wasn't able to speak to the manager but left my info. I have yet to hear from the manager and the last woman that I left my contact info with was rude af. I will not ever recommend this location.

But they refused to rent to me because they couldn’t scan the barcode on the back. Totally unacceptable. Ended up using my friend to come rent it for me. Technology is suppose to make things easier not become a handicap. Totally disappointed.

Deborah HamsharThe CA delivery and pickup was great. Communication was great. The quality of the boxes was better than expected. Ours were stainless still and so much better than others that were wood. Arriving in Cedar Hill, TX was a little disappointing. They were set to arrive 1/3, unload date 1/4. Morning of 1/4 since I didn't have any updates I called the location, no one had any information. I asked for corporate information and in the middle of being transferred I got back to the first rep I talked to who said "the boxes are here but they didn't get checked in because the forklift didn't work and needs servicing, so since they're weren't checked in you can just come by without an official appointment.” Once I hung up the app was updated and the arrival date was marked as 1/3. Of course this voided the “guaranteed by 1/3 or $50 per late day.” Saturday I called, spoke to the same rep to set the appointment and stopped in. Sunday, I called, spoke to someone different and was told they're closed Sundays so they asked if I wanted to schedule for Monday. At the same time I found out they are only open 9AM - 4PM and the appointments need to be made the day in advance. No one told me these points at all the previous days. Appointment set for Monday. Tuesday I called to schedule an appointment for Wednesday. I spoke with the first rep who tells me the Ubox guy is off Wednesday. At this point this is our last day, the bill is due Thursday and we are trying to avoid this. She finds the guy and I talk to him directly. He said he would leave the boxes where I looked at them and they’ll be ready for me. I would like to point out the boxes all 4 days we seen them never changed position/location. This was clear indication they were not stored in the warehouse. They were left outside the warehouse 20 feet from the doors. Not secured by anything but our locks. They were obviously not tampered with however that part is misleading and considering I was told I couldn’t see them without an appointment or their closure days while they were just sitting outside the least they could have allowed was daily access. All in all, the uboxes as a whole were great. I’m sure the experience will depend location to location.
Nicole FojasThe equipment was clean (auto transport) but the mechanism for the ratch straps are rusted, worn and do not function well. I use this same type of ratchet strap system on my personal trailer very frequently so I am am very familiar with their operation. I had great difficulty getting both of the strap on your trailer to release. If nothing else, at least some lubrication would help/. Bit at the end of the day the mechanisms really should be replaced.
Steven WillisI tried checking in on the website. I received a "Thank you for using U-haul" page. It gave the impression check-in went without a problem. It nor the U-haul assistant informed me the check-in had to happen at the drop-off location to avoid a check-in fee. Staff could have checked the cameras to see I checked it in when I said. Furthermore, the van had to be swept clean when I received it. A large piece of trim broken and flying in the wind as I drove.

Got it hooked up and headed down the highway just for 5 minutes later the tread blows off one of the tires on this trailer! The customer service people were kind and a great help but they do not do thorough inspections before reserving a vehicle or trailer.

Dustin EskridgeRented cycle trailer for 24 hours. Picked up at 7 AM when office opened on a Saturday. Departed at 7:30 AM. Returned it Sunday morning when office opened at 9 AM. Arrived at 8:30 AM. Disappointed I was charged for a second day since because it wasn’t returned within 24 hours. Told me I should have done it on line myself by 7AM Sunday. Disappointed.
Travis GoodeCustomer service is so not helpful. I received bad communication from U-haul customer service line regarding rental payment method (reservation). Had to go find my own U-haul while a worker on premises wouldn’t! Plus on top of it All I was extended for an additional day for only 3 hrs needed. This was setup wrong from beginning and when you call customer service you get tons of bad information

My only complaint, is that although you have several people working at your location, no one ever answers the phone. Calls are always sent to the 800 number. It doesn’t matter what time you call, the phone goes unanswered. It is very frustrating when you need to speak with someone at the Cedar Hill location. When I actually did get through to someone at your location, they were supposed to call me back with an answer to a question on two units in the climate controlled section. Because I never heard back from anyone, I moved what I had in storage at your location to another facility and rented two additional units at that storage facility as well.

Had no one to call for assistance and had to leave the truck at the storage facility until the next day. It delayed our moving process and I was charged for services that were out of my control. A sign needs to be posted not to park returned trucks in that area so storage renters can access their units. The facility only has one entrance and I pay extra to have 24 hour access.

I didn’t receive a refund and I had it for a couple of weeks without ever using it. I went to another storage company and got a unit three times the size for the same amount. We were not compensated for our belongings. Why would I carry insurance on a unit that I pay a ridiculous amount of money for? By the time we moved our items, we had paid close to $20,000.00 for storage fees that UHAUL couldn't be bothered to keep safe! Would I recommend the Cedar Hill facility again? Absolutely not. We rented a trailer there a year ago, and someone neglected to check it back in. When we rented another trailer 2 weeks ago, the facility argued that we had never returned it. If this is what passes for service, I wish i had known that before we trusted them with our storage. I hope others have better luck than we did with our losses.

LUIS MEYER | Overall ExperienceWe opened our account for a RV space in February 2022 and expected that it was being stored in a secure location with surveillance cameras, particularly focused on this area where many high-dollar vehicles are openly stored. On approximately March 23 we went to pick up the RV for a trip. As soon as it started, it was obvious there was a problem. The catalytic converter had been removed from the RV. Needing to be able to take the vehicle on a planned trip, we had to immediately get it repaired. It cost over $1400 for the repair. We talked with the office personnel who gave us the phone number for the manager. We called, but our calls were not returned. Office personnel told us that two other RVs had also been vandalized, but the U-haul facility had not filed a police report. Apparently they did file a report after several vehicles were vandalized and an investigator came to view the video, but since the cameras were either not working or not focused on the open storage area, there was nothing to see. We did file a police report and, as instructed, contacted RepWest Insurance. We explained that the cameras at the facility did not even capture the area of these vehicles for the monitoring company or were not functioning and not providing secure storage. Over the course of several weeks, we dealt with the adjuster, AndreaGomez Olea. She was quite condescending and, of course, continued to deny any liability on the part of U-Haul in spite of U-haul's failures. We finally gave up with her after her final, impertinent message, and decided at that point we would find another means of storage for our RV. U-haul promotes these facilities as secure and safe, but we certainly found in a short time that not to be true. We would not recommend anyone storing a boat, RV, truck or any other vehicle at this facility.

I couldn’t take it all so I rented a smaller storage to keep the remainder until I could pick it up. Picked it up, no issues and checked out. It was a very positive experience for me. I saw personnel changes but the quality of service and friendliness never changed.

I am aware that for an additional cost you can get a remote key but that’s more money going out the door. I switched to another location that has a drive up keypad and unlimited entry hours. Only found out when I arrived at the facility after making the 20 mile trip from my home. The initial monthly phone quote of $154.95 went to $167 and some change. Not that much money on a one time deal, but will add up for our new RV that we had planned on keeping there for as long as we own it which will equate to years. Was not at all happy with the surprise increase.
