They were friendly, informative, both customer service on phone (David) and the woman at desk (forgot her name). The truck was great. This location is perfect. I wasn’t sure if I was going to need the truck for one day or four and so reserved it for 4 days. We were able to complete everything in one day and the rate was adjusted easily. Great experience!

The app does not work well and I wasted 30 minutes trying to check out my vehicle. The website checkout link should be available under my reservation, but instead I need to navigate to another page to start that process. The parking lot is muddy and my vehicle was covered in mud. The gas was half full and the can smelled like cigarettes. Terrible experience overall.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The pick up location employees were rude. The truck was a piece of trash. Had to replace tire and even after that the truck still said tire was broken. Absolutely horrible condition. Will never rent again.

Your mobile check-in needs to be more streamlined. The reference check is not really worth it, since I could put anyone down and there is no way to verify, I would remove it.

Took 2 months for them to resolve an issue with my storage, charged me 1st month rent. The store manager Sean on Commercial Drive gave me a lot of problems and the communication was poor. When I tried to get a discount for my inconvenience I was denied that too

Rented a truck for 8 hours. Brought it back with a full tank, only using not even a 1/4 tank, drove less than 31 miles. Was charged triple the rate I was supposed to be charged. They said I drove over 100 miles, but had not picture of the odometer, said I brough it back half empty, showed proof I filled it up. Also said I returned it the following day, even though 3 employees saw me there that same early evening. When I discussed it with the manager she was very rude, and unprofessional. They credited my card a portion of the over charges, when I went in and told her they still needed to credit me the rest, she said I will but I am putting in our system you are never allowed to rent from this location again. Like I said very rude and unprofessional.

I originally had my reservation at a different location, they had one van with a dead battery and one they couldn't find the key for. They couldn't have cared less that they couldn't fulfill my reservation. We were able to get a van at the Commercial Ave location and the people there were very pleasant and helpful.

The gentleman who help me was very professional. After pulling out with the truck I had wanted to get a bigger truck, and though I was not able to switch trucks, he did everything within his power to try to do so- even staying later after closing hours on New Year’s Eve. That is commendable!! Today, when I went to return the truck, he was again there. He got my keys and as yesterday, was very professional with the return.

I rented a 10-ft truck with a stand-up dolly that was red colored painted. My move did not require the need for the dolly by the movers. I personally put the dolly back in the back of the cargo area and drove it back to the U-Haul location. During the trip back to the U-Haul location the dolly was rolling back and forth banging on the sides of the cargo area. I returned the truck in the return equipment spot a man greeted me and said you didn't need to do anything else and you could go. No inspection of the truck or the equipment or the cargo area. The next day I received a phone call leaving a voicemail saying that I did not return the dolly and that I was going to be charged for it. The darling was returned. And there is an accounting issue there. And I will dispute the charges most wholeheartedly. I have no use for a dolly as I'm moving 700 miles away with only small things in my car. I hope this location does a better job of accounting for their equipment after drop off.

Have a big sign near the self storage gate letting people know that you turn in there to return rented vehicles. There is a sign but you don't see it until you have already turned in. It needs to be out by the street as you are approaching so you don't go past it and have to do a u-turn in a big vehicle.

I did the self-check-in option since I had to be on the road at 7 am and the office doesn't open until 9. The keys weren't in the correct lockbox. Luckily someone showed up around 7:45, randomly, and was able to help me, but I was an hour late to where I was going. Please don't offer self-service options if you can't get it right. This was really frustrating and I will certainly not use this location, or even Uhaul, again.

This location is great. I was at work and could not pick up my reserved Cargo Van on time. I reached them when the store was closed at5:15. The store door was closed. The front desk lady was still in the store.. She saw me, helped me to check in and pick up the van. She stayed there on Friday afternoon half an hour after hour to help a customer. I highly recommend this place.

I had to rent an additional trailer to move stuff. When I arrived to return the equipment I found they did not accept trailers at this location and I would have to return it at another location. This would have undo hardship on me. A Uhaul maintenance employee happened to be there and he said he would return the trailer for us. All the employees at this location where extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. 10 stars.

The lady at the office was very rude and needs to be trained on customer service (has an accent maybe Jamaican). Opened the door to unit and was disgusted and didn’t even bother putting a single thing of mine in that unit. There was never an attendant on duty. The gate was never closed. There trucks and trailers left in the entry area preventing others from entering since there was no staff working the property. I was charged a mojnths rent at 6am the day after i moved out within my first 30 days. Needs to be refunded ASAP!

Labeling on the facility was very poor, and indicated that we needed to enter the facility to get a gate remote in order to leave. In actuality, the gate exit was weight-driven, so when we walked through the gate to see if the office was open, we became trapped outside in the cold. The office on-site was closed, and we spent 20 minutes on hold with the facility, followed by another 10 minutes on hold calling again. When we were connected, the service folks acted like this was a stupid mistake, and said they would come let us out in 10-15 minutes. 25 minutes later, another storage unit owner arrived and let us out, at which point we were able to move in properly. Facility could benefit from updated instructions and warning signs.

I would not recommend commercial avenue to anyone. The first time we opened the door to our storage unit after everything was moved in there were was a cockroach right there and then about 100 small bugs scattered. It was as if the cockroach gave birth right then and there. I set roach traps and also fumigated before finally moving our belongings to a different UHaul. I've used storage for years in different States and this was horrible. I did not take pictures but anyone who goes to the storage unit will se at least 3 dead cockroaches in my 5x10x10 unit. We found two dead cockroaches in our belongings. As we unpack a couple of things will be sure to take pictures. Horrible experience.

Remote storage site in Pleasant Valley Road is a very inadequate. Security gate left open for weeks because it was broken. Had an ant infestation in my unit that I had to exterminate in my own. Horrible facility layout - very difficult to access with large U-Haul Truck or any normal vehicle + trailer set-up. Almost no security. This site suits people coming an going in a car or pick-up truck storing low value items.

The security gate was broken and remained open 24/7. The office was not staffed and the provided restrooms were not open. The storage room had roaches and clearly there was a vermin problem as bait traps were in the unit as well.

When we arrived at the U-Haul storage facility the unit that we had rented was already rented and locked. We had four carloads of helpers that waited for 20 minutes in over 90° heat until Uhaul Answered the phone and fixed the problem.

My overall experience was HORRIBLE! After moving from out of state driving over 10 hours I find out I have to sign paperwork at a different location over 25 mins away. I called U-Haul while driving and for over 1.5 hrs was bounced around to reps who could not help give me any details. After making it to the other office, I waited 20+ mins to be helped. The service rep was helpful but he was unable to locate my reservation and would not take resv#. Had to start over. After finishing the process I went to the storage unit , row D and the 26ft truck can't get down the aisle. I tried for 2 hours the next morning to get someone on the line with no help. Finally rented with another company even though I still have the one I setup and need to get cancelled, can't get my month free even though the are associated with U-Haul because I could not change the location. This process was exhausting and stressful. No other moves or storage rental has been this jacked up. I still have not oped the unit because I could not get the truck to it. Worst experience ever

I had 2 units at this location (110 and 186). The first unit was broken into and I was never notified, even after the management placed their own lock on the unit. It was only when I went to access the unit and saw the lock had been changed was I told about the break in by another renter to which I then called the store in Durham to report and ask how to get into my unit. Two days after this my second unit was broken into and burglarized with losses over $700. I immediately contacted the general manager by phone and was given the claim contact at RepWest. From speaking to both Derrick the GM, and other employees and renters this property has been under attack from thieves for some time and Uhaul has yet to improve lighting, security or cameras which is ABSOLUTE NEGLIGENCE! In addition, they are not notifying renters of break ins to their units as soon as they become aware. I cannot believe that this is the business model that UHAUL has sunk to. Derrick and Rachel at the main Durham store that manage this property have been kind and responsive, and I feel sorry that they have to deal with this at work EVERY WEEK! You really need to take care of your customers better. Simple fix: add lighting, add more security cameras, do a daily sweep of property in the morning to check for break ins and communicate immediately to your customers! I will not recommend this location to anyone and I am considering contacting media to inform the public since no one wants to tell the current renters they are at risk. I moved everything out and will not be back!

My unit was clean but there was no lock in the unit as described. With a delivery truck and $4k worth of furniture I opened the unit to find no lock. When I called the main store in Durham on Hwy 70 Matthew told me I should have checked for the lock before receiving a delivery, blaming me for your error. He told me to drive to the office to pick up a lock. I had to leave my unit unlocked, drive 15min to pickup a new lock. Rachel greeted me with a smile and was happy to help me get a lock. She apologized for the missing lock and Matthews comments. She told me that she would have the General Manager Derrick call me, but I haven't heard from him yet. I was inconvenienced and frustrated by the experience, but Rachel was the one positive note.

This experience was horrendous. When we first got there the girl gave me such a nasty attitude that I asked if I had done something to her because I didn't understand what was going on. Then I got the 24 hour service (paid extra) and was locked out that night. When I call the after hours number that woman said she hasn't worked there in years. I had checked on my stuff a couple weeks later and they had a sign that stated that due to robberies we were only allowed entrance during certain hours but I was never notified and still charged the extra money for the 24 hour service. Got locked out again trying to get my stuff out of storage and still they haven't updated the after hours phone number. This was horrible and I would never recommed them to anyone.

Now, online one unit has been closed out and the other storage facility is showing past due even though i moved out both facilities on the same date. I have called and spoke to a rep....a rep has called me and said it would be resolved. It still is not resolved.

I was ready to move my 2 bedroom into my storage unit on 11/11 just to find out the lady who assigned my unit #136 has already been assigned to someone else. Therefore, I was unable to move my things in. I called customer care and spoke with 2 reps and they both told me there was nothing they could do. I stood in the rain for over an hour trying to figure out what to do at 8pm. I was highly upset and livid! i will NEVER use uhaul again in my life nor recommend you guys! The worst experience in my life. Because the staff wasn’t careful when assigning my unit what caused a huge inconvenience for me financially because I had to find another storage place fast and had to pay them $169 that I didn’t have a that moment. I’m highly upset and I want this issue resolved!

Grace was incredibly helpful!!! We reserved a unit online but never got any more information about how to move in online. Arrived at 7:30pm after driving from Savannah .. hot and tired and ready to finish our journey. We first called the emergency # posted but it was to a former employee. However she gave us Graces # to call. We did and she did everything necessary to get us into the unit that night. We were incredibly grateful. The morning manager was very kind and helpful as well when we came back to do a few more things - unfortunately I didn’t get his name. Great staff at this location !!

I signed in ahead of time so I could get the free lock for the unit. The lock was not placed in the unit as I had been told. I went to the office to talk to them about it, and there was only one person working the desk with at least three or four customers waiting. I did not have time to wait, so I left, and had to leave the unit unlocked overnight until I could get my own lock. This office is severely understaffed and the free lock was not provided.

This is our first time using a storage facility so I don't have anything to compare it to. We needed the storage facility for just over a year. We did not have the need to go there during the year so our experience with staff and the other aspects asked in the survey above were very limited. What I can say is that it was very convenient to our home and it was very convenient that they have trucks to rent there for when you need to move belongings in or out.

Ms. Mims provided me EXCELLENT customer service and went above and beyond to make sure ALL of my moving needs were met and that my transition went smoothly. I will be recommending this storage & U-Haul facility to my friends and colleagues. I would like to also add that the staff assisted me without any complaints even though the golf cart was broken and they had to walk and service EVERYONE by foot. I am a manager for a Fortune 500 company and I think it is a shame this company has yet to fix the broken golf cart or provide a new one for their staff. I will be investigating who owns this particular location so that I can let them know my thoughts as well. It's IMPORTANT to value and treat your employees well, especially when they are providing excellence and representing the company to and with the highest of standards. I have my stuff in this facility for one year and a half , the access was always easy but all my stuff was covered in a thick layer of dust and mice poo. It seemed like there were a construction right above my unit. I had to throw away my couch, chair, wash three times my clothes and super clean the rest of my other furniture. Also, the stuff weren’t friendly and neither helpful. Bad experience in this facility.

First of all my belongings got wet while they were in the storage unit and the customer service person told me I should have gotten the insurance. Secondly I keep getting these emails saying I owe money when I was supposed to get a free month of storage with a truck rental. My things were only in there two weeks, I rented truck both times and they still send me an invoice 30 days later saying I owe a late fee. This place is terrible no one seems to be running the show properly. I will never use this place again and can someone please look into my account to make sure they aren’t reporting me to a credit agency for owing money. I don’t owe any money
