Our truck had a horrible smell of urine in the cargo area. It was so bad that we couldn’t put anything in it for fear of the smell getting onto our items. Fortunately, we ended up not needing the cargo area, (we had much less stuff to haul than we thought we would) but by the time I could get back to the yard to return the truck, the office was closed. Next time, I will check the cargo area before leaving the lot.

The process to check in took over 40 minutes. Also, the gas tank was on empty and when I spoke to a representative about it, she was very rude. Then, they told me when I dropped off the Ubox that they didn't take them there, yet online and the first person I spoke to at the location said they did.

Overall a great experience. Rented from this location a total of 4 plus weeks daily during the week. Customer help was amazing. Fleet maintenance was alright. Had a couple of vans that weren’t super clean along with pieces falling off.

AC did not work properly. Check engine light came on mid trip. Was meant to be one way rental but Counter Agent input as return to same location so had to drive truck all the way back to San Francisco instead of sacramento. Cost additional $50 in gas plus now my car stuck in Sacramento!

I was disappointed as I had stored with uhaul due to a email saying I'd have a free month for the storage unit. I even asked about it when I called to reserve and was told it would be taken care of at the location. When I pull up I saw there was also an advertisement for a free month outside. When I asked about this free month I was told I did not qualify. I had already moved all my things in so I felt I couldn't change my mind anymore. I felt I was promised an offer and didn't receive it. I ended up renting for two months as the storage access hours did not line up well with my work schedule. If I'm ever in need of storage I wouldn't store with uhaul again.

The wifi or cell service is horrible at this location. Making the app impossible to use. The counter does not communicate with the all so when you go inside to ask for help they start a whole new contact for you regardless if you have a card on file or already in use. This is a very frustrating experience. We were able to complete our rental only because a secondary attendant knew of a few extra steps to work through to help us with our original rental versus a whole new agreement. We recommend having better communication with the app and the counter service system. We also recommend a reliable WiFi connection through Uhaul so our location can be verified and the app can work.

For a first time renter, I was a little confused how the process worked and was expecting the truck to either be parked up front and for someone to give some pointers. Instead, I was told where to pick it up and had to figure things out on my own. I could have asked, sure. But the whole process would have been more pleasant if a rep was there for more guidance. Other than that, pick up and drop off was smooth. I rented the 15' truck and it got the job done.

It would be extremely beneficial to have 24 hour access - especially considering the high pricing (and frequent increases), as well as due to the fact of being located in a major urban area with such a variety of working and sleeping hours. I actually did not even enter my unit for several years due to the hours not fitting with my schedule and/or those of someone with a vehicle (I do not have a vehicle, due to living in an urban area). Mechanical lifting equipment or lifts would be extremely helpful for those with units that are up flights of stairs or with upper level units. Especially for the units with permanent stairs, wheelchair platforms could be installed which do not require operation by a licensed equipment operator. And platforms which do require an operator could be requested or reserved by appointment so that a certified employee could be present to operate it. It would be nice to see more availability of larger units. It is not in everyone's budgets to maintain more than one unit, but the lack of larger units forces people to make downsizing decisions, where a larger unit would keep them in your property. The card access systems could use updating - it takes a while to get the hang of the correct speed and firmness of card swiping, leading to unnecessary trips to the office (if it is open), just to be told you are not swiping slowly enough. Perhaps tap cards would be better? Especially for those looking to reduce wallet bulk, a small keychain fob would be great. Otherwise, everything was generally great. Employees were always friendly and helpful - often even ready to go out of their way to assist with any concern or issue. The environment was always clean, with not a single rodent or pest to be found. The temperature/humidity always seemed in great control. Overall, I was mostly satisfied. I would be likely to maintain this location as my lifelong storage location if the above-mentioned issues were corrected - especially the ones regarding access hours, mechanical equipment/lifts, and more plentiful availability of larger units. Thank you!

1. Reserved the U-Haul and then location change by U-Haul a few hours before. 2. Pick experience three hour nightmare where they couldn’t find the truck and then had to recut keys. Once they did get a truck, it was filthy and they had to clean it out. 3. We drive off the lot and discovered truck was on empty and windshield wiper was damaged. There was also a crack in the windshield. 4. Tried filling up gas but pump was damaged which resulted in another two hour delay. This completely changed my moving plans and was a very frustrating process. My cell is (415) 847-7989 if you have any questions but I would like to be refunded.

The people were courteous and helpful, and everything went off like clockwork. I was very impressed with the integrity of the staff and would recommend this U-Haul branch to anyone. Even doing it electronically worked well. I am so thankful that everything went well without a hitch, as I was under some time constraints on my end. The app I used to order a 15ft truck got canceled when I was at the location to pick it up truck.Then had to call customer service for 35 minutes to find me another one. Then they did not have another 15ft truck all they had was a 10 ft that I had to take two trips back and forth and cost me more money because I did get the truck I wanted in the first place that I ordered. I was not very happy with my experience with U-Haul

While I have my items there, Water inside my items twice and my boxes were broken. When I move out on the 8 of March the manager assistant was a very nice helping me and I showed to her how the store he I was using was very rusty because the leek they have had from the rain. Thanks Pastora

Excellent flow and well oiled machine with respect to process and time effectiveness. Staff knows what they are doing and handle things quickly and appropriately. Unfortunately, evidence of pre-knowledge water ingress issues in the cargo area of a long in the tooth truck existed and that truck was put into service despite the weather that day. This water leakage had no resistance and it flowed freely into the cargo area destroying several belongings. I have filed a claim through appropriate channels and we will see if UHaul does the right thing or if UHaul is the evil empire.

Felt like being booked into prison...call your next of kin, then you have a mug shot taken, then you get some sort of phone based check out (which failed), I've rented a yacht with less process. I was really disappointed that my one-way U-Haul truck was not guaranteed. I booked two weeks in advance and the day before my move, a U-Haul representative told me that there was no one-way truck available. I thought this was guaranteed per the online booking process. There is probably a lot of hidden language that was not easily understandable. I am not happy at all. It was an inconvenience to have to drive back to return the truck.

Vehicle was clean and had almost 9000 miles, but dashboard warnings for low tire pressure and the need for an oil change kept scrolling by. This is not the first time I've seen warnings - years ago the check engine light was on for a vehicle with under 1000 miles. These vans are driven hard with many drivers and lots of short trips so maintenance must be a challenge.

When I arrived I was charged double what my reservation was quoted. The employee made no attempt at helping. Then when another employee took me to the trailer, we inspected it and the lights were unsafely dim and there were parts of the trailer hanging off, partially taped on with old, decaying tape. I had to help the employee rivet the part back on (at my suggestion) by getting under the trailer and holding it for him. I planned on driving the trailer to my destination the next day, but when I opened the trailer to load it it has leaked water (not from the doors) pooling inside. Seeing this unit was defective and unsafe to drive I decided to return it without making my trip. When I arrived at a local Uhaul store, the employee told me I had to go back to the other store to rerun it, and I would have to call customer service. I called the uhaul 800 number where the employee told me to call scheduling department at my original destination. Calling there, the employee told me I had to call the number for the local Uhaul. I called there and the employee I spoke with was very unhelpful telling me they didn't want to allow me to return the trailer and told me no one would help me. Finally, hearing the conversation I was having over the phone the employee at the store I was standing in decided to help and allowed me to return the trailer. I would definitely advise anyone to reconsider doing any business with uhaul in the future, it's not worth it. Poor equipment, horrible service with nonsensical situations. In particular the employee at the original pickup location, Center Storage Manager Wendy Ramos was extremely unhelpful and treated me disrespectfully from the moment I walked up to the counter.

Very confusing location to navigate. Freddie helped set up the trailer and was very friendly and helpful. Front desk person who helped us was minimally communicative. Also the day laborers who were hanging around the entrance made us feel unsafe.

I have had a U-Haul storage room for several decades. Yesterday I got a call to say that my goods were about to be suctioned. Then problem was that they didn't have my new credit card number. But the problem was also that they were sending notices to 752 Lakeview instead of my address, which is, and was the whole time, 572 Lakeview. The worker who called me in the nick of time had my driver's license number, but had to ask me for my email address, though it has not changed for several decades. Also, U-Haul records showed my backup contact person at an address on Holloway. I have never even known anyone who lived on Holloway! I paid the bill via credit card, corrected the information U-Haul had wrong, and re-instituted auto-pay with my credit card, but I am upset and mystified as to where the wrong contact information could have come from and very upset that I nearly lost my stored goods.

I will give them 5 stars. however, the storage unit was at upper level, and there was no lower level available, which didn't work for me, since I had many large and heavy items, it wasn't safe for moving them into upper level storage unit. also, there was only one elevator available, which wasn't so convenient. also, while I reserve the upper level unit on App, I didn't know what I got after I saw it. it wasn't clear on App for first time user. I never saw this type of storage unit before in other uhaul storage, so it wasn't expected.

The reason why I rated a 2 is because there was a person who was giving me a hard time. And she didnt only do it to me she fid it my family too. So that's why me and my family decided to move out because of her. Her name is Debora. Known as Debbie. When she saw me or my sister, she will talk really bad to her colleagues about us in front of us. And that is just disrespectful and she also will be rude. Another thing I also rated it 2, Was because the people who you have in front Will take about 10 minutes to get the next customer. When they don't have no customer serving. Ad if Debbie is there and she sees me they will take up to 20mins to attend to my needs. It's sad to see a supervisor who is just gossiping about others just because she doesn't like certain people. And my last reason for rating it a 2 is because Debbie and another staff member allowed someone else to go into my storage and my sons passport got stolen. (That is known as a federal law document) and she lied to the cooperation that she will never do something like that. When I went a few days my storage wasn't how I left it. So I don't understand why is this individual still working there. I want to thank those above Debbie position for their help. And I wish the best for Debbie and those under her. The policy of not renting trucks to people who are clearing out their unit is unnecessary, stupid and punitive. How am I supposed to move the contents of the unit if I can’t rent a truck. BAD POLICY. I had to go to the UHAUL in San Francisco to rent a truck. Your services for rental are overpriced and your billing staff created the need for me to move out because they couldn’t just give me a call when I went dilinquent? Incompetent. Rip-off. Never again.

I was told over the phone that the location had a 6 x 11 available, so I chose this over another company’s site. There was no 6 x 11! I got to the location and instead wasted over an hour looking at rooms with pillars and poles in them that were NOT the size advertised! The access hours are better than most places in the city that I can find. I do wish that they had 24 hour access, which apparently is not a thing here. The staff was ★★★★★. (To be clear thats 5 out of 5 possible stars) very helpful, I was having a problem setting it up by myself online wish they fixed me no problem and it was done pretty quick and she brought me upstairs to show me where the unit was and explained how to use the elevators and everything and yeah very pleasant and clear communication.

I arrived to pick up my rental trailer on Wednesday, Sept 28th. My trailer had been given away. The employee stated that their customer service overbooked them. I was then directed to 2 different sites to pick up another trailer. I was given incorrect information again and finally found one after driving around Phoenix. I then drove to San Francisco to find out that the storage unit that i had reserved was given out as well. I was left to take a unit I did not wasn't and had to store my couch at a different facility due to the fact that it would not fit. Very unsatisfied and left with a headache. It was my time, discomfort and money that was affected.

Our unit was robbed during the hours where you were OPEN WITH NO SECURITY. The manager literally did nothing and seemed annoyed that we were upset that we didn’t want to ignor it. We had to take three days off of work waiting for cops because the manager refused to call us when they got there even though we live 10 mins away. The man who robbed our unit used a very loud angle grinder in the facility and no one noticed. Not secure. He also robbed other units and when I asked the manager if she was going to contact the unit she said no it wasn’t her problem which makes this tenants very unlikely to recover their stolen items the longer it hasn’t been reported. I would never recommend this place in fact I’ve been actively telling people to not rent in this unit because it’s unsafe and management is useless

When I came to the storage, they assigned me a triangle one at the corner, which is half the area of the normal one. And after they figured out the other one that can assign to me, it is already 6:30, and they close at 7. They said I can only move in tomorrow which was really annoying since I need to move my stuff in on that day. It was a really awful experience.

When I first applied for the storage locker I was not pleased that I had to climb stairs to move my items in. It made the process very difficult and tiresome to carry boxes up stairs. I also believe that my storage fee was increased several times. My last comment is the large amount of Day Workers congregated at the front of the facility. They stand in sqaular all day and wave at customers as they drive in and out. There are also plenty of unhoused people roaming at the gate. The overall feeling of the environment was dismal and downtrodden. The inside of the storage facility was clean, however the outside environment made me anxious when I was on the property. Everything was great except for when I had the larger unit (8x12?) the guy next to me was there a lot (every day?) and had all his stuff out in the walkway making it hard to get by. He almost seemed to be like a crazy/homeless guy. Other than that it is a great facility!

I received the worst customer experience of my life in this facility. Your entire staff is unhelpful and unprofessional. Half of them were not wearing masks and when I asked if they had scissors behind the desk to help cut open the lock I just bought, your employee proceeded to try and open it with her teeth. They did not help me set up my scan card, just told me to punch in the date which did not work and caused the alarm to ring 2 different times. Everyone there acts like they don’t want to be bothered or be at work. Plenty of people that would be over the moon to have a job. Very unprofessional. The other reason I proceeded with payment was because your location is convienent.

The only thing that bothered me was that I reserved a unit on the 4th floor that I didn't realize had several steps up even after taking the elevator. I had many heavy boxes and needed a dolly to move most of it. The service representative warned me, which was good. But then I had to get another unit that was $50 more a month. The price was still way better than what I had, but it would be good to describe the situation on line so we know what we're getting into. Otherwise, I was very impressed on all levels.

We arrived 30 minutes before the close and while the staff was helpful, the unit we were provided was 4 floors up, and tucked far back into the facility. This made it incredibly challenging to get our items off the truck and into the unit. Not to mention, the truck we rented did not have the furniture pads we asked for — and paid for. Overall this was a very average experience.

My "no" answers were because the inside of the storage units have no lights and the facility does not have flashlights or other means when too dark, overall the facility is kept very clean however some of the customers leave the place in a disarray possibly because of homelessness

I was given a storage unit that had half the size of the other units but charged the same amount. My unit had a huge pole cutting through the middle of it which decreased the amount of available space for my belongings. Feels really unacceptable and really wish I was given some sort of discount.

This u-haul location Extremely Poor customer service And Unprofessional! Returned a trailer on 9/23/2021 That I was told by the manager I was Responsible for Mount that was Picked out by Jonathan dubon their counter person and Told not once but Twice! it was the Correct. Gave the Ball and Mount to the Trailer technician and he Installed on my 2016 Chevrolet 1500 had to Pull Over at Interstate 10 and Bob Hope Dr. Drove to the Chevron Station the Ball Came loose from Vibrations Trailer technician NEVER INSTALLED COTTER Pin! Was able to get to u-haul at 68075 Ramon rd Cathedral city cal 92234 . Return Trailer on 9/23/21 When I went to Explain what had happened and Told Repeatedly from the female counter person that I Bought Mount/Ball They Sold Me and Told me That it was the Right One Twice! Also their trailer technician I’ll bet was Never been Trained properly But I was told this was my Responsibility! I’m sure their will Be no Fallow through! No I Guarantee u haul corporation won’t or give Feedback on how this matter was Handled! Check Yelp sometime or Better go pay a visit!

After packing for months, having Covid affect my family, and only having my son able to help me move, finally going to your facility and experiencing awesome help, courtesy, patience From your worker Wendy I felt like such a burden lifted off my shoulders. She made it so easy to check in and get my storage area. She gave us a tour and was very pleasant always had a smile on her face and showed us all we needed to know with the cards in the elevator etc. I couldn’t be more pleased. Being 64 years old and moving to another state was a lot on my shoulders. But your U-Haul facility and your worker Wendy made it a much more pleasant experience. My experience with renting a truck and auto trailer then reserving the storage unit was excellent. Customer service to the employees in the offices at West Sacramento the lady an elija ( think that his name) were excellent very helpful. Truly an outstanding storage facility in every way, which I always recommend to friends in need of one or more storage units, and where I have rented multiple units perhaps for 20 years. Your staff are excellent too, in particular the Storage Manager at Bayshore U-Haul, Debbie Zaldana, who has always been exceptionally helpful and provided supervisory assistance if needed throughout the many years I have rented my several storage units, as have friends to whom I recommended the location, none of whom ever regretted their decisions to rent units at Bayshore U-Haul! Without a doubt, the staff at this UHaul understand Customer Service. It’s clear that the GM, Don has created a positive environment and sets a great example for his employees on how to conduct business. Both he and the storage Manager Debbie helped my son and I with a quick install of a trailer hitch and solutions on how to get his stuff back to Texas without costing an ‘arm and a leg’. I especially loved hearing that someone from the cleaning crew offered up tools and a helping hand when it was apparent that getting the pallets of stuff from the third floor to the dock was going to be a challenge. Kudos and thanks to everyone at this UHaul!!!

I won't even go into all the problems I had with your staff not processing my payments and then claiming I was late.

I was nearly killed at this uhaul, they then allowed an unauthorized user whom I specifically told not to allow to access my unit. I am currently away on vacation.

I got in at 6:45 and the staff that was working refused to allowed me to move into my unit. So as a “favor” they “allowed” me to park my open trailer with all my stuff in the hitch bay. I do not understand why you say you’re open until 7. When I came the next day I was told that no one knew how to open the hitch bay and that I had to come back at 3. They also told me that they don’t understand why the people on Saturday didn’t let me move in then. This was extremely inconvenient. Then, even though I reserved a ground floor unit, it turned out to be a 5th floor unit with steps that had to be climbed to get my stuff in. This wasn’t mentioned anywhere and was not what I reserved. So I had to upgrade to an 8x8x8 on the third floor to avoid the steps which is costing me considerably more money. It also has a column in the corner so it’s not really an 8x8x8. The column is easily 1x1x8 so why am I paying for an 8x8x8? Doesn’t seem fair. Lastly, zero of your male employees were masked berating a mask around your neck or mouth doesn’t count. Suffice to say, I’m looking for another place to store my stuff and judging by my experience on Saturday evening, I’m guessing no one really cares so. I also need to say that while there was some effort to remedy my situation on Saturday there is no reason I couldn’t have been given my card and allowed to move my stuff in. My “staff friendliness rating” was based on the Saturday crew. The Sunday crew was much more helpful and I’d give them a “yes” for this question.

The worst experience EVER - first the location on Bay street saw my reservation but said they had nothing available due to a glitch and didnt see to care that i made this reservation a month in advance and called everyday the week leading up to me need the storage for a week and they confirmed it but when i arrive they tell me otherwise. I had to really lose my patience from the frustration to finally get them to find me a new storage facility which is how i ended up in Bay shore. What is the problem with you people? I have money in my account, my account is still the same and nothing has changed. I have been a customer with you for 5 years and my account has been on auto payment the whole time. You have to first request payment from my bank and in turn, they pay U-haul as they have for the the last five years but you already know this and that's why I believe you periodically try and scam or deceive customers into delinquency with their storage rooms. Please do what you were supposed to do in the first place and request payment of $129.00 from my bank and refund the late fees. Also stop your decitful practices of dropping active credit/debit cards, not requesting auto payments then alleging customer defaulted all in U-haul's attempt to place delinquency liens in order to wrongfully confiscate clients storage rooms.
