RICHARD NI left my car & house keys in the truck when I returned the vehicle. I contacted the location 15 min after I returned the truck & they told me there were no keys in the truck. When I said we were going to return to search the truck for the keys I was told the truck was already rented to someone else. I will be contacting the Police regarding my keys being taken

Curt SFirst my appointment was scheduled for 4/8/24 @ 2:30 pm and as I was on my way to the appointment (takes 30 min do drive there) I received a text verifying my appt for 4/9/24 @ 8:45 am. I DID NOT change my appt and was NEVER informed of any changes to my appt but when I arrived I was ignored and kept waiting to find out what the heck was going on. I waited almost 30 minutes before the "installation expert" came out to tell me he was going home for the day and to come back first thing in the morning. I was so very upset since I made this appt 2 weeks in advance and again, was never notified via text nor e-mail that the appt had been changed. When I insisted to know why the appt was changed all he kept saying is I get off at 3 so there isn't enough time to complete it since it takes 3 hours to complete. I kept insisting that no one notified me of the change he and the manager kept trying to show me where the change was made on 4/1/24 in their system but I kept trying to tell them I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. All Alissa and Adam kept saying is I'm sorry but it shows it was changed on 4/1/24. They wouldn't address the fact I kept saying I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED! At first the manager, Alissa, told me I need to come back in the morning for find someone else to install it if that wasn't an option and I told her I don't need to do anything! It is your job to find someone else to install it since I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF ANY CHANGES. I kept trying to show them all the e-mails and texts I did receive and none of them showed any changes to my appt to get the hitch installed so finally, after arguing with them for about and hour, I told Alissa to just sell me the parts and refund the installation charges and the charge for the ball hitch since I had one already. She did as I asked and helped me load the parts into my car and just before leaving said "if you don't find anyone else to install it you can come in tomorrow at 10 am". I accepted that offer and told her I would inform her if I had found someone else to do the installation but if she didn't hear back from me I would be there at that time. Well, I did find someone else to do the installation and for over $100 less than what U-Haul was going to charge me and it only took about 1 1/2 hours to complete not the 3 hours I was told and charged for by U-Haul. I have rented oh so many times from U-Haul and have never been treated so poorly in all of my life! Alissa, the manager, was taking other phone calls while she just left me sitting waiting and wondering what the heck was going on and when she wasn't taking phone calls from customers she was having conversations with her family members on her personal phone WHILE TAKING CARE OF ME AT THE SAME EXACT TIME. It was so unprofessional and so rude/dismissive! I know she was talking to family members because she had it on speaker and didn't even try to hide it. At one point she said to the person on the phone "hold on my mom is calling me" and she went on to accept that call from her mom and carried on a conversation like I wasn't even in the room. Bottom line is Adam, the person who was supposed to install my hitch should not have his job at all! He only cared about the fact he was going home and it was only 2:30 even though he said he gets off at 3:00. He had his back pack on and was walking out the door and no matter how much I insisted he stay and do the job he kept repeating "I am done for the day come back in the morning" I tried to explain to him that I have been planning for this trip for over a year and coming back tomorrow WAS NOT an option! Had I been informed that they couldn't do it at the scheduled time I would have canceled and found someone else but since I wasn't EVER informed of the changes made I was there and expected the work to be done. I was also explaining I am leaving WEDNESDAY and Tuesday is reserved for finishing up packing and cleaning since I had already sold my home and delaying my trip WAS NOT AN OPTION and again he was dismissive and just kept telling me "oh well, sorry but I am going home now come back in the morning" I was beside myself in disbelief that anyone would treat a customer in this manner. I WILL NEVER use U-haul EVER again for as long as I live! I will use ANYONE other than U-haul this I promise you! If Adam and Alissa aren't fired then I will know U-Haul cares NOTHING about their customers and "keeping promises" I am so DONE!

Connie AThe truck was clean but needs maintenance. I only went a short distance, but the ride was terrible. The truck shook very badly after about 40 mph. I had to travel he interstate, so I needed to go at least 55. That was the 2nd truck I got because the first truck shook badly at 20 mph & the breaks need to be changed. I rented in February & the ride was smooth. I couldn't imagine travel in either of the trucks from my last rental traveling a long distance.

Deborah LOn the day I went to pick up my rental, the computers were not working correctly. Daniel was trying everything he could to get me in my van I was renting, but his computer was really not cooperating. A young lady next to him was able to get my info into the computer and get me going. On my renting the van, Daniel and another young, very polite woman helped me with my return. It was a great experience over all.

If it hadn’t been because there were workers there I wouldn’t have been able to get the van. The waste to time became an inconvenience for me and everyone I worked with that evening. Spoke to a representative on the phone and she told me that the location would call me but they never did
Willian GI was rescheduled to another day, I was charged more money than quoted and had no brake lights on the vehicle when the job was completed. I spoke with the manager and he was not accommodating and did not want to take responsibility for the errors made. Highly unacceptable, I will not recommend this service to anyone.

Carlos MI was told that the truck I got had 7/8 of a tank of gas. The truck we got had less than a half of tank of gas. I put 20gallons of gas in so I wouldn't get charged the unreasonable rate you charge. The truck I got was unsafe to drive, the steering wheel was off center. The front end felt loose and hard to keep in the center of the lane. This will be the last time I will ever use this or any other store.

Mark KMake sure to give right information. We were told we had sto rage reservations. Get to SC they look at us like two fools . But the floor and size of unit had none for us all taken . Here we are truck loaded and bagging for some thing any thing drove all night to come to not having storage. Lady there was great after hard work of giving us two units to make we were told for weeks we had No Way.

However once I had the reservation complete and went to look at the shed it's self, every time I slid the door lever on my 5 x 5 shed the alarm would go off. Happened 2 X, I went to the office, did my code right there on the keypad in the office, got confirmation I was doing it right and the alarm STILL went off the 3rd time when I went to the shed. Not upset, just sharing information.

The one disappointment was a security feature, even though the doors automatically open for loading and unloading, you have to walk down the side of the building to be granted true access to your unit. I found that out the hard way when I unlocked my unit and the alarm went off. Other locations use a card that can be swiped, this location is a manual input for access. Other than a minor inconvenience, everyone was very pleasant, I got a great unit location and it's close to home!

I had to pay for the lock and thats it. Before, they gave me a card and I could access the facility after hrs with no issue. Now they only give you a access code. Now that I want to rent a unit only the representative stated I "have to" have the unit on auto pay but that doesn't seem to be true as I watched her click the auto pay option on the computer......... Also, they required my house insurance policy information if not I would have to pay an additional $7+ monthly. How I pay and if I want insurance on my unit should be my choice. Just frustrated because I didn't go through this before with the prior representative I had at the location.

Margarita M | Overall ExperienceOnly problem I encountered was when I was trying to rent a truck from several locations here in Florida as well as in California every time you reserve a truck you most likely will get something other than what you reserved or you would have to go to another location or are they just plain didn’t have it which in turn result into me having to rent a larger truck for more money. I suggest you double check the trucks before allowing a reservation to be made or if a customer has to get something larger/more costly, then compensate them in price or mileage.

My parents are senior citizens they have a storage on the second floor they were unable to put their boxes and other items because, the elevator was out of order and our rental truck was loaded. Alissa and the other young lady we're compassionate about their situation and try to accommodate them as much as possible. They were able to extend the rental truck. They have an elevator to access up to the second floor but currently it’s not in service because of waiting for parts. I had a 20” truck full of boxes and some furniture. I felt that it was very inconvenient to off load the truck and have to walk my items up the two flights of stairs.I was hoping they would offer some kind of incentive for the inconvenience like maybe give me a discount off my first month.It actually took 2 more hours longer than estimated to finish unloading the truck.I hope that they can have a better system planned out in case this problem happens again and prevent the inconvenience.
JOHN L | First ImpressionsThe ONLY issue is that there is only the ONE ele vator to serve the entire climate controlled 3 floor building. It was out of order at least twice that I know of in the 3 months I had large, heavy furniture there. The day after I had professional movers there I went back to close my unit/lease to find the elevator out of order again. Had that happened the day before there would have been a major problem with my move, it would have been unsafe for the movers and would have added several hours to the cost of my move, that's IF they would have attempted to move my furniture. They really need a second elevator for that building! Other than that, it was a wonderful experience. Friendly helpful staff and a very clean environment!

Was forcibly made to reserve three days instead of the one I needed and still haven’t received a refund for those days. The pickup delay costs me $100 with the movers that were already at my home waiting. When I arrived to Lakeland, the facility code was not working, I asked for a unit that reflected the need of the uhaul truck and was given a unit smaller than a dressing room. Had to keep truck another day because the manager’s emergency phone line listed in the elevator was going to voicemail without an option to leave a voicemail and the Uhaul call center line was looping a message about being open before disconnecting (for all options!). The next morning I came in after speaking with a rep about changing to a larger unit. I checked in at the counter and was charged despite expressing that the unit was supposed to be free. I also lost money that was non refundable to have movers come the first day to help unpack the truck ($300) because the unit was too small. All in all, I wasted $400 on movers because the uhaul delays and mess ups PLUS the monies charged for the extra day I had the uhaul AND the being charged for the storage space that was supposed to be free.

All this took an extra 1 1/2 hour and we had a big full truck to unload. By then getting late and disaster. The truck had leaked likely on day 1 of 6 on our way to Florida from Minnesota and our beautiful 55 inch Sony Bravia 2 yr old TV was soaked and ruined as well as our beautiful area rug we paid over $500 at Macy’s was soaked and after 6 days mold started. Ruined. A very nice employee was found there and helped with all the soaked packing and checked the truck. We took lots of pictures of the truck and packing and TV and rug. HORRIBLE. . Our TV cost us over $2000. A claim has been filed as the leaky truck caused all the damages.

Jonathan P | Overall ExperienceI hired movers to move into my unit on 6-12-2021 and could not move in because I had a climate control unit located on the second floor and the entire building only had one elevator and it was broken preventing me from moving in but forcing me to pay for the unit for fear of losing it. I was not able to move in to the unit until Monday, June 14, 2021 when I found out at 7 AM that the elevator had been fixed. This delayed my move in for two days which affected the closing time on my house which had to be pushed back because of this. I have rented from U-Haul for decades and never had this happen. No other unit was available at any other location locally. The staff offered to let me move into a unit on the bottom floor until the elevator was fixed and then move to the second floor. My movers were charging me $170 an hour and this would’ve caused a double Move in. What an absolute nightmare!

Apparently that was a recent change, but I would not have booked everything online and paid if I had known I had to show a business license to get the 24/h access. When I went inside to make a change to my reservation, and about getting the 24/h access on my account, they fixed the first thing, never answered the 2nd and then just checked me out without any mention of the 24/h access until I asked about it again and only then was I told no. As a new small business owner just starting out during this pandemic I think there should be better communication from the website to the actual store. Especially when so much of the advertising mentions 24/h access despite it only being offered for a very select few.
