Easy experience largely because of a really good store owner (The Moving Store.) Mileage costs could be made a bit more clear upfront.

Horrible customer service. Very rude and unhelpful staff. Took 45mins from arrival to keys in hand for the vehicle. Expresss pickup was not working and the representative said it never works. When asked why it's an option the answer from the staff member was "I'm just a flea on a big elephant" in a patronizing tone which I interpreted as she does not care nor want to help. Engine light was on but was assured it was safe to drive. Will never bring my business to u-haul again!

Make it clearer up-front that a phone with cellular data is required to complete the rental process (to upload a photo of the driver's license) and the drop-off after hours (to avoid the $20 fee). Provide or at least have available for first-time renters written instructions of the drop off process at time of rental (eg has to be done on-site and upload location data and photos). I would recommend the customer service at this location (other than the lack of clarity about needing an internet connection until I'd driven all the way out there) but I would not recommend U-Haul's process. Too long and complex. Standing in a cold parking lot for 20 minutes trying to get through the online checkout procedure was pretty frustrating. Some people, including younger people (I am under 45) don't have cellular data plans for financial reasons, and right now the alternative is letting a staff member verify the vehicle the next day for a fee of $20. This should be included in the service. Or it should be possible to upload the photos and complete the checkout procedure from home or another location with wifi.

Unfortunately, the blankets that we had reserved were not available so we needed to do without. What’s the point of reserving something online if the reservation doesn’t actually mean you’ll get them? Apparently this was an issue with U-Haul and not the local store where we picked up the vehicle(?). To me, it doesn’t matter so much about who dropped the ball - just that the ball was dropped.

The Moving Store was excellent, but I almost didn't go there, because I had reserved a van at the Duncan Mills location. It was my son who suggested we go to the Leslie St. store. I had been directed by a customer at Access (where I went to inquire where the U-Haul office was) to go to the Warden store. An Access employee told me the Duncan Mill location had closed, but she didn't know where they'd moved to. YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE! My reservation was found (it had been moved to the Leslie St. location), but how was I to know that? It worked out fine in the end, but it might not have, and I would not have been able to accomplish what I needed to yesterday. The online service is great, but not if it is operating inaccurately, giving people false information.

The use of the words $19.95/$29.95 per day actually quite misleading. At the end of a day rental, paid almost 4 time the amount, for driven a total of 20 miles distance. This is more of less the same rental cost for other rental companies. No distinct advantage to use U Haul unless the pickup location is closeby.
