I returned the vehicle with less miles than the estimate but they said no credit. I estimsted 50 miles but only drove 33 so I overpaid by 17Richard A.
The mobile app could isnt the most user friendly, was unable to take pictures during initial inspection to notate the cleanliness of the cab, it was clean but smelled stale cigarette smoke. Also, I am aware mileage is a charge, but when I brought the truck back it had an extra 1/4 tank of fuel than when I picked it up, certainly more than the mileage I went over, feel it should have been considered even at that point, no extra charge.Kristopher K.

I wanted a van they gave me a truck even though they had a van available. I found out why after I brought the truck back. It was so they could charge more money per mile. The truck was a total death trap. Worst vehicle I've ever rent. The breaks were grinding terribly. I let the CSR know how upset I was. As I walked out he started shouting obscenities at me. I needed to extend my rental and ask questions and the U-Haul customer service line was awful. Three times I waited on hold over thirty minutes before giving up. It resulted in me getting charged for two extra rental days despite returning the truck on time. UnimpressedRyan F.
Needed a 15' truck for the day. Arrived and took possession of the truck. Rear storage area was fine, clean & orderly. Cab was a mess. Looked like the last users had smeared the windshield inside with muddy fingers.Cab was never cleaned . I reserved this truck 3 days before the move. This is the second U-Haul dealer in Sanford that has not cleaned their trucks. Next time find an alternative to U-Haul.Joseph H.

I am furious at my experience at this rental location. Not only was my rental covered in snow (please note that there were other vehicles in the lot that WERE NOT covered in snow), the interior smelled horrible and was cluttered with trash under the seats. The wheels were so bald I almost couldn't pull out of the rental lot and then the high beams wouldn't stay on. I had to hold the high beams stick with one hand while trying to stear with the other. It was a terrifying experience. I picked up my uhaul after shop hours so was not able to speak with personal. It also seems the shop does not return phone calls and keeps short opening hours. To top all of this off I was charged an EXTRA $97, for what I do not know. I have had to move seven times in the last two years and I have used Uhaul for each move. This was my first encounter with this particular rental site and I will NEVER go back. This experience has also upset me so extensively that I have no plans to ever use Uhaul again. Truck was in poor condition. Felt like shocks were gone. Had to pull over and get a mechanic out it got so bad. He took it for a test ride but said nothing was wrong. It rode a little better after but I noticed there was fluid leaking out around the axles after I stopped for the night. The drop off location wouldn't accept the vehicle and said the lot was full. Felt like I was given a lemon that no one wanted. Terrible experience.Michael S.

The trailer was meant to be 5' by 8', I needed it to be 4 and a half. I questioned the size upon picking up the trailer, was told the didn't have a measuring tape on them and it was 5 ft wide, it was not, was unable to use the trailer. Was still charged for the rental. BooKurt V.

Hello, I rented a 10ft box truck on October 2, 2020 it was rented for one day. It was returned the same day with a full tank of gas. When the clerk at the counter had asked â€œ how many miles do you think you will use ?â€ I responded with around 50miles. I arrived at that number due to the fact that the routes being travelled I had mapped out and the mileage calculated between the vehicle stops was accurate to my trip as the Rental only went to these pre-marked routes which the total mileage equates to 54.549 miles. If the vehicle charge was $19.95 per day and the SafeMove insurance was an additional $14.00 and the Rental Tax was $15.18 with a $1.00 Environment Fee. The final total should be $105.13. My invoice that you charged me says I drove 118miles total which is highly in accurate, and the final total the invoice claims I owe @ $0.99 per mile equals total price $166.95. You are overcharging me $61.82 This is not acceptable and this matter needs to be rectified ASAP. Next steps are filing complaints and reaching out to my bank. Be responsive in your customer service. I have charges on my bill that were not supposed to be on there an nobody is responding. The uhaul worked functionally, but had sticky gross stuff in the cup holders etc. Then I got charged a cleaning fee which is laughable given how gross it was when I picked it up.Rob W.

This location was dirty (dust on items, furniture pads haphazardly on the floor by the entrance), workers did not perform a vehicle inspection with clients, no mask use among the three workers, obscene music blaring, and one worker wore a political hat/ subjectively inflammatory shirt that is inappropriate business attire. I would recommend Uhaul reassess their contract with this business. These workers/business, most likely, are not good examples of the ideals Uhaul wants to portray.Mital S.

More precaution taken for health concerns during a pandemic, more appropriate professional attire, and a cleaner environment. For anyone potentially entering this establishment be aware masks are not used AT ALL and pro trump with anti abortion attire is worn by the employee.Lindsey M.

I was told the drop off in Sanford in Me was open on Sunday till 4:30 Arrived before 4 pm, CLOSED ! Bad cell service, so I could not complete on my cell. Then got charged an extra $20, you kidding $220 wasn`t enough for a 5 hour rental. Call the next morning and the clerk was an utter jerk. TORTURE !STEVEN B.

I recently sent an email to UHAUL asking for a refund. I have not heard back so I am trying to get in touch through this review. The cargo van that I reserved on 7/9 for 7/10 at a 3:00 pick up was not available because the person renting it did not return it on time. I have rented the cargo van in the past and feel confident driving this vehicle. That is why I chose this vehicle. The staff called the driver and he was not going to be back for 35-45 minutes. My obligation to pick up our new washing machine was 3:15. The only option was a box truck which I was not comfortable driving. My husband left work early to drive the truck so we could pick up our washing machine. The appliance store owner had to stay until the end of the day to wait for us to arrive. Everything became complicated because the cargo van that I reserved was not available. Since you guarantee that the vehicle reserved will be available, I am requesting the 50.00 refund. Thank you. There is an area manager that is investigating an issue. I received and email from Uhaul that had my name, email and a very OLD phone # of mine from 10 yrs ago ...its not me!!! I called the # on invoice and some girl named kristin and all the way in Maine . Someone needs to get this resolved as it could potentially be a Freud matter. Please advise..JENNIFER S.

First things first the guy never checked my bonkers even though I turn my 4 ways on second off I got charged for 2 days on a 24 hour rental I had for 4 hours because I didn't check it in which I was not instructed on how to do also wasn't informed I was going to receive a text to uploads pictures of the trailer so in turn this has sworn me off using Uhaul services ever againTYLER T.

Frank was great! There were some computer issues in renting the truck, I also realized I needed a bigger truck once I saw the 10ft truck. I used the uhaul app the pick up my truck (the store was closed and covid makes contactless preferable). After more than half an hour waiting for approval on the app (which was a step I was never made aware of before hand since I'd already done the online check-in and prepaid), I finally got through to an agent on the phone who promptly took care of me. Without calling uhaul and waiting on hold for 20 minutes I may never have gotten my keys. Either your approval process is unacceptably slow (over half an hour) and your agents don't respond via the chat app you tout (I sent 6 messages over the course of 30 minutes and never received any replies), or your app is misdesigned, or both. It is possible that after I got to the Awaiting Approval screen the network connection went out. When I finally hit the back button it reloaded the pages and then proceeded after the agent manually finished my approval. But if that is the case then your chat box and awaiting approval page are incapable of noticing that they're not connected which means your customers will type into it and it will log their chat as if it is working. I don't know which of these options is the truth, but it was unacceptable either way.Robert G.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The one negative concern, which was reflected in a separate email was the fact that I was offered the possibility of purchasing an insurance policy for $30. I had clearly explained to the person completing the process that I was picking up the trailer to load it up and that my son would be driving up from New Jersey to secure the trailer and returned to his home with the contents, dropping it off. There was no ambiguity in the fact that I would not have personal possession of the trailer throughout. I was told that my son simply needed to call in and and his name to the contract at the time that he picked it up for me. At no time was there any indication that the insurance policy was only good if my car was towing the trailer, but that was something related to my son at the time of his call to and his name. For me, this became a wasted expense. In my other email, I have requested a refund of that insurance policy cost and am suggesting that your rental locations. Be advised about the details of how insurance policies operate.George G.

The staff was nice and everything worked fine. During Covid I just wish they had been wearing masks and gloves. The truck was clean but when I chlorox wiped the steering wheel, directional etc it was obvious that no one had cleaned them. I know Maine has only had 50 deaths and many don't see the need but I think as a public transportation system going interstate it should be a uhaul priority and there is a company wide opportunity to show country wide solidarity by giving equipment a wipe down and a spray of Lysol.Deborah G.
