the issue of having a second driver have to upload pictures of their driver's license was unacceptable. no other option available and license picture what not accepted through link provided. we were not able to have a second driver with no other option to send license picture. not everyone can easily use their phone, this should be considered and a back up plan should be in placeTamara S.

When the truck is not starting and I called for roadside assistance and they say 15 to 45 minutes I expect that time not 4 hours later. I had to pay the 2 men that I hired another $300 to wait then I had to send them home and again another $300 the next day to unload, total $900 for the move down the street. I reserved a utility dolly and a dozen blankets. When I arrived at the location 10 minutes prior to my reservation time, the lady told me that they did not have the utility dolly I reserved, and had only six blankets instead of a dozen. When I asked her why did not they call me ahead of time and inform me about the missing equipment she told me that she was not the one who took the reservation. She was extremely rude, did not apologize and made sure that I regretted I had reserved equipment from them.Mahmut D.

i was a little confused on the mobile pickup process. I thought it was inconvenient how they asked for a passport, contact or something to be verified.. if this was emphasized in the beginning i would have been prepared. The location was not at all cleared of the snow/ sleet build up from the days prior. The vehicles all had a mound of snow in front of them that had to be roughly driven over. The main issue was that the entire area surrounding the key return was iced over and it was impossible to reach with steady footing; I had to hold onto a bush that was next to it to try to maintain balance and still ended up falling. It is a very dangerous condition and needs to be remedied immediately before someone is seriously injured.Joshua K.

When I arrived to pick up the truck, it took us about 45 minutes to check out and get the key. When we got in the truck we found that the front drivers side headlight didn't work, and that the front drivers side tire only had 40 pounds of pressure, and the TP light was on. I had to fill the tire with air three separate times on my trip. This is not acceptable.Robert S.

Gas gauge was marked wrong in the paperwork. It was marked way up than the truck actually had. I noticed that when I put gas in the truck. You could see that if you calculate the distance I drove, roughly 40 miles, and the gas gauge after I put the gas! I have the gas receipt Thanks !hassan A.
While I would definitely recommend this location, I will not recommend using the website to reserve anything online or to purchase boxes. I specifically requested a truck be reserved at the East Haven, CT location, yet it was reserved at New Haven, CT location. I also purchased boxes online, to be picked up at the dealer, to use for during my rental and the were not shipped until the day I returned the rental. I was led to believe that the boxes would be at the location when I picked up the rental. I had to purchase boxes elsewhere and now do not need the boxes.Bryan S.

I really don't know how to put this review, but the location I got it from was great. Kurt and his team at Swanson are great. The trucks not so much. Maybe it's because of the type I got, but I didn't really feel comfortable the whole time I was driving. The truck was up there in age and there was over 119000 miles on it. As I drove it, the rpms were going so high with me barley touching the pedal. It also wasn't shifting properly. It would go up to 4000 rpms, idol for 20 seconds then go back down. What really got me mad was that half way through my journey, the check engine light comes on. That could mean a lot of things, but at that point I didn't feel safe. I had my family in that truck with me and I made them drive their personal vehicle for safety. I would of returned the truck, but everywhere was closed and I wouldn't be able to get another one. I arrived 10 minutes was before my rental deadline and was told I could refuel next door and leave the keys in the Dropbox. The next morning I saw I was charged an extra $40 plus tax for an added day. It's taken multiple phone calls to get this reversed and I'm still waiting for confirmation of a credit. It is convenient to me, but doesn't have the Pickup Truck that I wanted. Pickup was OK, but slow. The Van was in great condition. Return was fast, but they wouldn't process the return then saying I would get an e-mail receipt shortly. The bill was overcharged - adding an after-hours return charge. Instead of issuing a credit to my credit card, I had to go back over there again to get a cash refund. Renting is not their primary business - it is an automotive repair shop, so all of this was not unexpected, and tolerated since the location it is very convenient.frazier B.

I was grossly overcharged. I picked up the rental on Wed-7/8/20 at 9:00 AM and returned the vehicle on Sat-7/11/20 at 3:00 PM. I called the UHAUL main number on Sat-7/11/20 at 3:00 PM and spoke with a representative for 17 minutes as I dropped off the rental to the store. I advised the Rep that I dropped off the vehicle on Sat at 3:00 PM with a full tank of gas. The UHAUL Rep advised that we would not be charged for anything after 3 PM on Sat. I filled up the tank before drop-off and I put the key inside the drop box. The representative advised that he would send an email communication to Swanson Automotive to let them know of the Sat-7/11/20, 3 PM drop-off. The contract for the rental was signed with Swanson Automotive after-hours on Tuesday-7/7/20 at 5:15 PM. We picked up the vehicle the very next morning and I explained I would need the vehicle for 2 or 3 days. This was explained to the gentleman and it was acknowledged or implied that this would be ok during our conversation. I obviously wasn't going to move anything late at night on Tue-7/7. Therefore we picked-up the vehicle the very next morning. The notion that the business can sign a contract with a customer after-hours (after 5 PM close of business on Tue-7/7/20) but then turn around and not accept Sat or Sunday drop-offs using a designated secured key-box is absurd. I should not have been charged for the full day Sat, Sun, or Mon. This is a misrepresentation and abuse of our conversation and agreed upon contract. I would like a refund for this oversight. Especially since I called in on Sat and spoke to a UHAUL Rep for advice on the matter. I did everything I was supposed to do. Please issue me a full or partial refund. The checkout process is great except that it will not accept a 0 in the odometer statement. My actual odometer was 5309 but touching zero would do nothing. The best I could do was to enter 5311.Mark R.
