First off, I was at the check in location for almost an hour and a half. The milage was inaccurately input during the last rental, and the online system wouldn't let me change the milage and error message would pop up. Finally got passed it after 2 phone calls to uhaul customer support. While trying to pay for it, they use a 3rd party to run the credit card check, which is outside of the United States, so it triggers a fraud alert with most banks. Found that out after calling uhaul again and then my bank to unfreeze my account because they'd locked it due to the potential fraud. Finally paid for it and went to pick my toolbox and brought it home. Returned the uhaul and had the same issue as I'd had during check in where the milage was off by soo much that if I submit it, I'll be looking at an additional 100 some odd miles. So once again I called uhaul, had them enter some notes in my account and had to file a claim to have it investigated. I'd had the truck (in use) for 1hr and drove a total of 50.8 miles and according to the check out screen was looking at almost 200 miles worth of charges. After a few days the investigation was completed. But what an absolute nightmare. Honestly would've been easier to buy a box truck.

Not for location- the company changed my pick up location 3 different times. The location picked was 30 mins out of our way and added an extra hour to our trip. When we got in the truck the gas level was only half full. Company did upgrade to bigger truck and took extra miles off.

Not a big fan for having to do only a self-check in. We could not get the sight to recognize our location at time of pick-up. We were able to have a kind gentleman at U-Haul give us directions to secure our keys, etc. so we could be on our way with our truck.

Vehicle not running very well. Spills inside truck, scrapes down both sides of truck, did not ride smoothly at all. I have rented this truck before and it ran pretty smoothly. When I called Uhaul to tell them Vehicle was lurching and we were getting FOUR miles to the gallon was told 55 minute wait. Pretty disappointed fuel tank was only on half as well!! Uhaul is better than this!! I was worried truck was going to strand us. Really expensive when getting such shitty gas mileage. Maybe its time to check elsewhere??

This location was very close so we wanted to utilize it if possible. The size truck we wanted was available. It would be nice to have some additional equipment available to rent if needed and some packing cloths available. Otherwise it was perfect for what we needed.

I had been waiting at the pickup site for over 3 hour, lack of clear instructions on how to pick up the truck. Had to call several times and was asked to sent three photos at the location which doesn't have a cell phone signal.

Beware of the U-Haul online reservation system scam. This location is open only on certain days or by appointment. When I dropped of the equip., the lady who answered the number I called that was on the office door said to park it next to the two trailers that were already there. U-haul charged me $346.68 extra because they said this was not the location on the contract. But this is the location I was told to return to on the online reservation system. Easy $346.68

I ordered from cedar falls and was told I had to pick up from she'll rock. I was not told anything about a virtual pick up and I waited for an hour for an employee to show up, and when they did, they basically said just log in to my account. I didn't have one and it put me way behind on my move. Then to top it off I was charged extra for milage from the pickup location being so far from where I needed to be.

Clear Lake location verbally confirmed a drop off location in Shell Rock. Since there was nothing listed on the contract we figured that was accurate. After we spent all day moving we dropped the trailer off in Shell Rock very late. There were three other U-Haul trucks there and we had dropped a truck at this location before. The next day we got a voicemail that we were in breach of our contract as the trailer was due at 9am and was not received. After several frustrating and rude conversations with staff (Gina specifically) to both me and my father (as he had the vehicle with towing capability). They made us go back to pickup the trailer and deliver it all the way to Waterloo. Over two hours out of our way on a Sunday. This was the worst experience with U-Haul we have ever had in over 40+ years of moving. None of our family will ever be customers again in the future.

I was late10 min with returning the U haul and I got charged for a day had to pay for 100 miles twice not very happy with anything with this would like my money back. I have rented u-haul before satisfactorily. But am disappointed with this experience.

had to repair hitch be for us rent it 24hours toke it back saturday at 2:45 goy charged 20 $ late charge . i have a repair shop u hale well get a repair bill for 65$ never rent again

Person here tried without success to get me the allowed miles for my trip. Was 46 miles short before I even left. In times past I was allowed 3 days for the same trip now it's only 2. No criticism of the woman running this place, she tried to help me but had to go along with what the home office decreed.

The location is way out of the way of the bigger towns. $19.95 advertising for truck rental is very misleading. $1.00 per mile in addition is outrageous, especially when gas is not included! And then to have an additional charge to return to a different location! This will make me re-think renting a U-Haul again. Great concept, but too expensive.

The "Corp. Staff" kept changing the drop off location on me until I put my foot down. This location had limited morning hours on Sat. and not open on Sunday. Fortunately U-Haul has the remote check-in process which saved me from going way out of my way to drop off the trailer. The online check in procedure was a bit confusing to start with for a senior, but I was able to finally figure it out. Then it went smoothly.

If using this location make sure that if they’re open and the doors locked you call the number on your contract. Personnel not always on location. We didn’t know this and we were there for a half an hour trying to figure out how we are going to drop off our truck because their online system would not hook up to my phone to verify I was at the correct location.

The trailer return process would not work on my Android phone. It would not recognize my location even though location services were confirmed to be on. We had to use an iPhone.

The owner of this location was extremely helpful. She is on location and had us hooked up and ready to go in seconds. Very friendly and even allowed us to leave a vehicle there for a short period of time until we returned the trailer. Will go out of my way to use this location for any and all future needs!!!

They did not know I was coming and didn’t have the moving cart and pads loaded. Not sure this was their fault though. When I called they were very responsive and helpful.

Charged for cleaning? i am not aware of anything that needed cleaning. I thought the truck was returned as it was given to me. and that is clean! not sure why I was charged for it?

My experience booking the truck was very difficult. The first over the phone booking, was for all intents was worthless. I had to follow up on a call to get the correct truck , and time. I tried to book on the web site and it kept timing out.

Not overcharge me on my bill !!! Okay so I was charged $118.00. before I drove off with the vehicle then when I checked it in I was charged another hundred and $118.00I should have only been charged an additional $40 for the additional mileage

Make sure you look at your paperwork. I had a reservation made online 2 weeks prior to pick up which I declined the additional insurance, but the office manager took it upon himself to add it without asking. Glad I caught it before I walked out the door.

I was very happy with Shellrock I was unhappy I had to drive 45 mins out of my way to rent their because I live in Charles City but they said my truck was not able to tow a trailer but yet this my 3rd time with no issues with shellrock I don't understand what Charles City issue is except that they just don't want business
