No one calls back, even after leaving three messages. They make horrible mistakes and do not tell you the person must be "live" to charge a credit card - and even though they talk about technology, they are still antiquated. You cannot do your order online (like one does with Amazon) if you are not in person. The firm in Princeton is a licensee as their main business is Avis Car Rental that we used, and they do not represent the U Haul Brand well!geibin D.
The truck I rented was in very poor condition. The ignition key would not turn. I had to jiggle it for minutes before I could get it to start the truck. The rental representative stated after i returned it, that he had requested Uhaul to fix it, but it was still not completed. The brakes and suspension made a very bad noise and vibration. Nothing to improve. When I picked up the van the person who helped me was great. Explained everything clearly and was super friendly. And the return process on my phone app was very convenient. We need to rent a van again in the next month or so and will definitely return to this UHaul location.Christopher K.

I was over charged for both mileage and gas. When I spoke with a customer service representative, they assured me the issue was resolved and the transaction would be canceled. It was not canceled and I was charged an outrageous amount of money. After spending 2 hours on the phone, I was able to speak to someone who claimed they could help me. Will have to wait and see if I actually get my money back. This is my first time using a UHaul and it will certainly be my last. Absolutely terrible.Charlie M.
If a location is going to close at 4 o clock in the afternoon, I should not be charged for late arrival. Who in the world can finish a move and return a moving van before 4pm? Uhauls website didn't work either, so I was not able to complete a return truck check out list. I don't know if that would've enabled me to save $20 or not, but either way this was a truly miserable experience from beginning to end. Like I said about the pick up location and would say about the drop off as well, I would go out of my way to tell people to avoid using UHaul, having to drop off at this airportâ€¦ all of it was designed to give customers subpar web and customer service experiences, and to extract exploitative and completely unnecessary charges on top of already extremely, needlessly expensive services.Anne N.
Your website experience is terrible, my phone kept complaining about out of memory errors when trying to checkin and checkout - I recommend you redesign it not to use google chrome and have your own app. The amount I was charged did not correspond to what I was told, the checkout procedure was not exactly what I was told, there was no way to update the reservation to indicate that I would keep the equipment a bit longer.Prem J.

The corporate checkout/return processing is cumbersome and time-consuming-far more elaborate than the delivery/return process of other vehicle renting entities.Samuel O.
When I return the truck, the online return process crashed a few times. It happened when I took a picture of the dashboard to confirm the fuel level and mileage. It took 25 mins to complete the process. Similarly, it took 30 mins to check out the truck.Hon Kam W.

Absolutely terrible service! The level of gas in the car when I picked it up was wrong and I provided a picture of it with the mileage. I brought the car back with the same level of gas and they still charged me for the difference based on their own mistake of not having the right level of gas on the contract. Make the website for self-return work better. It would not let me complete the return, so I had to go inside and luckily someone was there, even though it was a few minutes before they even open. The computers were not up yet, and the person there took my contract and said not to worry he'd take care of it once they were up. He followed through and I received the completed receipt soon after when I arrived home. He made the process very easy and turned a negative situation into a very positive one.Howard A.

Michael and Carmen were super helpful when we wanted to pick up the truck earlier and had to extend our use of the truck a couple of times due to unexpected circumstances. Location is right next to our storage units, which is a huge plus. But what matters most is excellent customer service and understanding that moving can be really stressful and complicated. Michael was extremely helpful. Very professional and friendly. I was late returning the truck so I had to use the app which was not convenient. My cell phone charge was dying from using it all day as a GPS and there was only a cigarette outlet to charge, no USB. So it was hard to take all the pictures required in the dark with no flash. And I had to keep going back and forth because the key box is on the other side of the lot where the truck is supposed to be parked. I knew to take a pic of the gas/mileage, but it would not let me load it, it wanted a new pic. So I had to go all the way back to the truck to complete that. It was a long day, so just a little annoying.DANA B.

When installing chains going from vehicle to trailer they are often left hanging too low so that when the trailer is loaded heaviest items in the front the chains are dragging and have to be tightened.GARDNER P.

Dirty truck. Gas gauge not working. Customer service agent curt. Returning truck process did not work - UHaul app did not read my location - 5 attempts. UHaul app did not send me a verification code to reset my pin - 5 attempts. Customer service hold time was 57 minutes. Finally took a time stamped photo of truck return in parking lot and dropping keys in return box - only to be charged $20 return fee the next day. Will never use UHaul again. Stefanelli U-Haul was great, but I was very disappointed when U-Haul unilaterally changed my reservation from 9 hours to 6 hours without my consent. I had to hustle very hard to return the van in just six hours, when I knew the move would normally take up to nine. This unilateral action by U-Haul discourages me from renting from you again as I'm not sure I could count on the full time initially reserved.Clifford Z.

Reserved a 5x8 trailer 3 weeks prior at another location (Monmouth Junction). Arrived at the other location, and the equipment had unfortunately been damaged by the prior renter. The owner of the location put in a herculean effort trying to diagnose wiring issues with the lighting to hopefully get the equipment in rentable condition but the problem could not be resolved without more significant work. The owner did not have anything else onhand to rent me so he called uhaul for me and secured a rental of the same equipment at an alternate location (Princeton Airport). I arrived 30 minutes later at Princeton Airport and the equipment was available for me. The rental was transferred and check-out went smoothly. The equipment was clean and lighting worked properly, but after driving a few miles I found that the hitch mechanism on the trailer seemed worn and felt that it was not as securely attached to my tow ball as I would have like to see. I kept a channel lock with me and stopped on local roads to frequently tighten it, but could not do this on the New Jersey Turnpike. Given the extent of the banging noise that the hitch was making over bumps I really was becoming concerned the trailer was at risk of breaking loose and hanging on by the runaway chains. Because of this I ended up leaving the turnpike and taking local roads for a good portion of the trip to put less stress on the trailer and give me more opportunities to tighten it up. As far as the equipment is concerned, I think the value you get for the price is outstanding, but maintenance (at least on this trailer) needs more attention to avoid a potential runaway. Some additional notes: The airport location is very easy in and out and has plenty of space to easily drop off after hours. The after-hours drop off procedure however seems more complicated than it needs to be. Simply put, I don't want to have to install yet another app on my phone just to drop off after-hours, and I don't feel like I should have to pay another $20 fee if I call u-haul to process the after-hours drop-off. I think a fair compromise is to be able to go to the uhaul web site, enter your contract #, and process the return that way. Perhaps even a link can be texted to your phone. But the last thing I feel like doing when showing up in the middle of the night at a deserted airport parking lot is to have to jerk around installing an app. I waited until morning and called uhaul, and they waived the service charge in the end, but again this part of the process needs improvement.Bill V.

Had to return after hours. Unable to check in online. Site kept producing error. Spent 40 minutes on hold with main U-Haul number before I gave up. Drop off location not suitable for after hours due to lack of lighting and security. Called this morning to close the loop and they were not very friendly but did complete the transaction to my satisfaction after lecturing me. I was not very friendly either.Steven E.
The UHaul app was broken. I uploaded photos of the odometer and fuel gauge many times, and it kept asking me to upload a photo of the odometer again and again. I must have spent 30 minutes screwing around with this. Then I gave up and called the toll-free number for UHaul to tell you I was returning the truck. I waiting on hold, with no estimate of the overall wait time, for 15 minutes, then gave up. I finally called the local number for this location and left a message about returning the truck. I wasted probably 45 minutes when I was already hot and sweaty and tired because of your broken app and poorly staffed phone line. Very frustrating.Michael B.
