We had an issue when it came to picking up our truck. We had reserved the truck on Monday 8/5/19 and received a confirmation code: 361441. We called to confirm the pick-up of the truck at our local U-Haul Neighborhood dealer, Southboro Auto Tech LLC and were told that we were all set and would need to pay $30.00 plus $10.00 for a hand truck. This morning when we arrived to pick up our truck they could not find our reservation and the code given to us did not work for them. I had to redo the reservation and not only did I have to pay $30.00 + $10.00 for the hand-truck there was a fee of .79/mile we were not made aware of when we first made the reservation. The attendants at Southbout Auto Tech LLC were patient and helpful but the U-Haul system which lost our original information caused us a loss of time and money and unexpected expenses. An employee of this location loaned me his personal trailer light adapter. My car had a 7 plug connector and the trailer a 4 plug. I thought this was outstanding customer service and a willingness to help. This allowed me to use the trailer, and I later bought an adapter for myself and returned his.

After driving 6 hours to pick up an auto transport I was told my reservation was not going to be honored because " my vehicle could not handle towing the car". I insisted that my reservation was accurate and that I had towed the same make and model car with my vehicle before. There was no effort to look into the problem and the person handling it would have been ok to send me driving 6 hrs back home. That's not customer service!! I called the 800 number and confirmed that my vehicle could handle the towing and had to give my cell phone to the representative at the location. Meanwhile during the conversation that the rep is having with customer service on my phone, the person selling me the car i was going to tow, is calling my phone wondering where I am but I couldn't answer because the rep is talking to customer service on my phone. After an hour of wasted time it got straightened out...only because I had to insist my reservation was accurate. The rep could have been a lot more concerned with the situation. The others at the shop were great and very helpful in getting me hooked up safely. Maybe uhaul can upgrade the reps computer or provide more computer training to handle these kinds of issues for the next customer.
