I would never recommend someone rent from Smith's or even uhaul for that matter. So many changes to our order and was told at the time of pickup our truck wasn't there and that they didn't have anything for us. They eventually got us a smaller truck that didn't meet our needs so we accrued extra mileage and still charged for it. Terrible experienceVITO A.
The lady who helped me at Smith's was friendly and handled my rental efficiently. Even though it was a busy time (opening on a Saturday), the staff quickly helped the customers. The staff were lovely ! The vehicle was appalling ! The brakes were boggy and squeaky and the suspension in need of attention . The hand brake was off when I left the location and it was too stiff to use . Ihave driven many UHAUL vehicles and this was the worst. I had an incident in which I failed (as I learned many had in this lane )yo make a wide enough cut and the wheel was stuck in a ditch and u haul refused to cover this despite my taking out coverage . I was blocking traffic and in danger and it was over an hour and half before they sent an expensive towing company to me .Deborah E.
while my experience with Smith's was positive- my overall U-Haul experience was AWFUL and I will NOT recommend. Changed location- prior to date-thats fine. Change vehicle type morning of but never send confirmation as promised- NOT OK. Upon arrival, location (Kings) tells me- sorry, don't have a vehicle for you (even though I am staring at 2)- NOT OK. SEnd me to Smith's.... in meantime, never heard from u-Haul acknowledging this cluster.... then upon returning truck to the nice people at Smith's... the total invoice was twice what I was quoted. I have not driven a 26 foot truck before so I don't know how it "should feel" but it felt very bumpy and rattly-- as if there weren't any shocks-- to the point where I wondered if I should stop and check to make sure there wasn't a flat tire! I suppose it's just like all the rest. Omar was very helpful my reply pertains to the truck windows were so filthy as were the side mirrors that I could not see out of them!! I thought they clean the windows before they rent it. And, why do I (and I wasn't told that) have to pay a $20 fee for "late" drop off. if you look at my trip, no way I could have been back by 2 pm as they close on Sundays. You charge $1.19 a mile!! Isn't that enough (twice the gov't rate of .57) and you still have to pinch another. No one went over anything with me about the truck, just pulled up a dirty truck and said, here ya go...I'm grateful for the truck but you could be more humane..Suzanne K.

The man who hooked the trailer to my truck was not going to hook up the electrical because many customers don't want it hooked to their vehicles, I insisted it be properly attached. He also did not perform any safety inspection to ensure the lights were functioning properly or that the trailer was properly secured to my truck's ball hitch. When he put the trailer onto my ball hitch he did spun the nut only a few times and the trailer was loose while driving homeKENNETH S.

The location and service is great. The truck is a scow. It was full of dust and wreaked of pot. The previous renters are obviously degenerates. They had no concern for returning the truck on time for the next renter (me). Uhaul needs to implement heavy penalties when that happens. As it is, and probably because we're in California, (since this has never happened elsewhere in my years of uhaul renting), it's rare to find someone who cares about anyone else, much less a stranger.Bryan W.

The truck was filthy. The cup holders and door cubbies with sticky with goop, and when I placed my phone there, it left the sticky all over my phone. There were old soda cans, and the inside of the cab had a horrible smell. I am appalled with the amount of money this cost me for the experience I had.Casey H.

Smiths Rent A Car is my preferred U-Haul location in Santa Rosa, CA. The staff are professional and courteous and the customer service is excellent.Tim F.
Fire incompetent employees that treat potential customers like crap and set precedence to not having people call your business again that could be a good start. How about have your corporate office call me back so you can see the pictures and video I sent you along with the contract I was sent out with and how your independent contractor at this particular location is sending your equipment out your contracts and Misinforming customers which is potential for business loss and return to utilize your equipment again. Everybody makes mistakes but when you lie in front of your manager in front of a customer who's trying to rent your equipment because you made a boo-boo I mean what kind of a person has to stoop to that level? We're all people that are human beings we all make mistakes but I think maybe some of us need to try and not utilize are off time activities until we're actually off the clock so that we don't take potential income to the businesses that were operating bye treating customers with the utmost disrespect and then having to involve managers to have to come and diffuse situations that should have never happened in the first place situation resolved in the long run, yes who was the majority of making the situation happen well I guess I was since I put myself at risk but before I put myself at risk for injury I had to ask the company to blow the gravel out of a motorcycle trailer so that while trying to load the equipment that the motorcycle didn't slide and become damaged or my foot didn't slide trying to roll the front tire into a chok on a motorcycle trailer with gravel in it! A little suggestion if you're going to reserve equipment to send people out in... Clean it up, if you're sending a customer out with a trailer that somebody has loaded landscaping gravel in or 3/4 inch California gold rock or sheetrock or whatever people use a motorcycle trailer for besides a motorcycle then the business is a whole should have the common sense before you send somebody out on a motorcycle to rent that trailer did it is clean and ready to roll before that customer shows up to try and engage in getting that motorcycle up and safely in that trailer so that they can transport it as far as the trucks go when I rent a U-Haul dealership I would never send a customer out in a truck that had mud and garbage in somebody else's candy under the sea and God knows what else the thing is is that you at least clean and full of fuel its return the same way if you damage it you pay for it if you buy the insurance and it's damaged and it's not your fault in your cover it's plain and simple it's a contract but if the company isn't representing with that contract says they're liable I was sent out yesterday with a contract indicating I had a truck that was full of fuel and had I not been smart enough because of wisdom of age and photographing that â€" with the mileage and the gas gauge on empty when I got back to close my contract out with the actual manager of that lJoann R.

This location needs to service there equipment and check it between every customer. Lights shorted out on left side of cargo trailer the got pulled over by H.P. they were going to make me go to the closest U-Haul to fix it but I managed to get them to let me come back to Santa Rosa if I had some one follow me . I called Smith rental and let Know . When I got there the Guy I think Jim or ken came out and banged on the back of the trailer and the lights went on then off again. Also the back door was so hard to get closed it took 2 of us to slam it closed. I said maybe you should service this stuff before you send it out. The door needs a little grease. I went in side and told the girl at the office she shined me on and kept working . NOT HAPPY.Dennis H.
There were not any floor cart/furniture dolly's available at this location even though it was an option to book them online. I was charged for them regardless even though I asked if they would take the charge off or reverse it. I had to go back a second time to get the fee reversed.Luke N.

They gave us the wrong truck (gas gauge was wrong). Then they also added in the insurance and said that we had signed up with it when that was not true. They also told us we had to return the truck by 3 when we had it rented for longer hours and they didn't close until 4 pm.Matthew D.

After explaining we had a terrible experience with Uhaul on Santa Rosa Avenue with their customer service, We were in middle of doing a transaction and a phone call came in, Instead of putting caller on hold for a minute, the new reservation via phone was done while we waited for it to be complete before finishing our reservation with the issues we had already experienced. The first place where reservation had been made was a 45 minute ordeal without any truck! Don at the counter assisted a walk in and gave our truck to them after we had been in middle of process with another counter person who wasn't really even on the clock yet. The unprofessional approach and treatment from Don was worst I have EVER had with any UHAUL. We were told the truck we reserved had not been returned. He instructed the other employee to help us and call lDanielle to TRANSFER a truck to be used. A TT20. The employee did as instructed and after confirmation on phone he assigned us a truck and asked another employee to bring it up for us. Meanwhile, he struggled with the computer to process us and Don said try another computer. Don had assisted 2 people after us during this time and proceeded to wait on a walk in customer asking for a 5 day rental. We just were about to get keys and finalize our deal when Don called for a truck to be brought up for his customer. Our TRUCK!!!!!! He said we couldn't have it even though we were first because we only needed it for half a day and the other customer needed it for 5. We had reservation and 30 minutes already at counter while new customer spent 5 minutes there. WHAT KIND OF HELL EXISTS THERE? Will NEVER USE THAT UHAUL AGAIN!!!!! NO APOLOGIES OR ANYTHING FROM DON. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ATTITUDE EVER EXPERIENCED THERE OR ANYWHERE.Daniel G.

Inform me of the safe move charge of 14$ that I did NOT authorize. I have USAA insurance which covers my driving ALL rentals. I Hebrew used uhaul many time and never get this additional fee coverage because USAA informed me to save my money, already covered. The NEW hire Rebecca asked how many miles to be used and told her 15-25 so when she stated total 48$ I figured 19.95 plus taxes plus the 99Â¢ per like should be 50$. I'm very upset with this business tactic. I won't be using this location again.ROBERT Y.

We drove 6 miles and due to employee mistake. We were charged for driving 115 miles. We were told that we needed to take pics of the odometer prior to driving is the only way to protect ourselves. Of course this information was shared after the fact. After fighting over the phone to avail. We had to go in person. Which cost gas and time. When the problem should have never happened.Tawnya J.
