There was a yellow light indicating low air tire when we picked up the van. We returned the van with more gas than when we got it and we were not offered a refund for it.

Both front tires were bald , showing wires, had to wait hrs to have mechanics swap out tires, I really think vehicles should be inspected better before customers pick them up and have to deal with the inconvenience

My mobile pick-up reservation was mishandled. After 40 minutes on hold with multiple disconnections, I was finally able to speak with a person. He confirmed that U-haul had not properly prepared for my reservation and sent me to another location. When I returned the truck, before the close of business hours, a representative confirmed that I should park it precisely where I picked it up. Today, the location sent me a parking violation, saying that it's my responsibility to pay for it when they failed to inspect/move the vehicle prior to street sweeping. On top of this, I was overcharged for the rental and the insurance. You guys dropped the ball every step of the way, and the parking ticket is the icing on the cake. I doubt you have the decency to refund the bogus charges, but if you think you're going to stick me with an erroneous $50 fine after all this, you've got another thing coming. I want written confirmation that I will not be held responsible for the parking ticket.

This has the strangest office location and yard that I have ever seen. When you are following the GPS to get to the office and are not familiar with the area, there is no UHAUL logo or sign on the PCH that you can see and pull over your car. We had to drive for another 3-4 minutes and look for the UHAUL yard. Then we could not even find the office since it is another 3-4 minutes of walk in an area that has no signs or guidance where the office is. If it wasn't for one of the employees working in the yard to move the trucks, we could not have found the office.

Van was parked in the lot in a place extremely difficult to get out of. We wasted 20 minutes of our time trying to back out of the lot. The van was very dirty and there was no way to indicate that on the check in. The ladies at the front desk were friendly but couldn't help us.

I would say the customer service needs improvement. It's not bad. However, a self-service machine might be equivalent. No greeting. Very basic communication and I had to grab my equipment by myself. There is a self guided vehicle approval link thats sent to your phone to verify the cleanliness and condition of the vehicle in case of any damages which used to be done with both, an employee and the customer. But now, the process is more independent and they assume you have a smart phone and the capability to access their link from your phone. The gas was entered as a full tank by the employee. However, it wasn't accurate. Make sure you actually check the gas, mileage and condition of the vehicle before taking off. There were lack of instructions for rental pick up. You should advise customers in advance about there being no parking available (besides across a major street or around the corners). The return process seemed simple as well. There was only one person working and he was on his lunch break when I returned. They have a box where you can drop the key and go. I'm familiar with the rental process and the Long Beach area so I didn't need much guidance this time around. However, generally speaking, someone else might appreciate this info.

The office was locked when I arrived after opening time. Maybe for security reasons? They also ran our of moving blankets for rent. The office was pretty filthy. However, the human capital was solid. The representative Jose was very helpful and efficient.

I waited on the phone for an hour with customer service just to get hung up on when the website wouldn't work to return the truck. I sat at the location over an hour trying to return it. I never received a call back or a receipt for the day. Never using this service again or recommending anyone use this company.

I was charged a $20 after hours fee I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT! Not right. This location should have been upfront and told me about it. I told them what time I was dropping it off and they never told me there would be an extra charge. $20 is not much, it's the principal of the matter!!

I did not know that was an location where there is no physical personnel to assist you. There should be an explanation highlighted on your email or text notification that this location has no office nor a human to assist you and that the entire process will be done on your phone. This area also seems like an opportunity for thieves to rob you because you are in a dead end alley, one way in. So, if you are there alone, at night, etc, anything could happen and because of that, there should be an opportunity to upload your information before you get there to save time from doing the process while you are there. The key boxes that require a code to retrieve the key to the truck should be closer to where the trucks are parked. They are too far away from the trucks giving the thieves another opportunity to rob you. You have to spend too much time with your head down, looking at your phone while in an one-way in alley just to uploadyour informationonline to get your truck. That entire area just doesn't seem nor feels safe at all. I would not recommend you choose this area to pickup/drop off your truck.

The return time should be calculated after the key is picked up, it took up to 20 mins from submitting info for pick up on the app to getting approved to getting the key that 20 mins should be added to the return time since time is cut.

It was disappointing when I asked why the gas tank was only at 1/4 of a tank and I was told to call Uhaul. And then then the interior of the van was very dirty. It had not been swept out. The exterior was dirty as well. There was an indicator light that also showed washer fluid was low. I would not return to this location if given the choice.

I've used U-Haul many times in the past, and always been satisfied. This time the experience had a couple of really negative aspects. First, I reserved a van about 3 weeks before I needed it. I checked a week before the move, and was told my reservation had been cancelled - not by me - and that I would need to enter another reservation, which I did. When I went to pick up the van, I was told that reservations for vans had been oversold by three reservations, so there was no van to pick up. They called a central dispatch, which acknowledged the problem, and found me a van at another U-Haul location 6 miles away. Of course, with most moves, you're on a schedule, with people booked to help, etc. I was just a mile away from the new location, when I received a phone call from U-Haul saying my van was not available at a third location. I turned around and headed to the third location. The third location was in a public storage facility, with rentals in sight, and no signage to indicate where the office was, or where the rentals were. I called, and they explained how to find the office. The processing was quick and the van was clean, and ready to go, so high marks for that. When I asked the faciliity manager, Jose Chaidez, where to park my car (I was renting the van for two days), he showed me where to park on the street. I specifically asked whether my car could be left at that parking place for two days without getting a ticket, and he said there would be no problem. When I dropped off the van this morning, I had a $48 parking ticket on my car. I explained the situation to the new person at the desk, Joel, who refused to give me his last name, and asked that my contract be discounted the amount of the ticket, saying it was my responsibility to read the street signs and I explained again that his colleague, Jose, had directed me to that parking place, and confirmed I would not be ticketed. Joel seemed utterly disinterested in my situation, and said there was nothing he could do. I asked for his name, and told him I would complain to U-Haul. So, I had a bad experience picking up, and another dropping off. I'm hoping that someone at U-Haul will read this complaint and contact me. Thank you. David David@RossFG,com

I was in a time crunch and was on a strict schedule but when I showed up to the location I had to wait around for 10 minutes until someone came to the office. There is a sign posted on the window saying to walk around and find a worker, but why should I, the customer, have to walk around a self storage facility to track down an employee so I can pick up my rental.

You can be at the office when the customers apt. Is set. If you happen to need to leave, you should contact the customer and let them know. Also if you arent there you should make it up to the customer with a considerable discount.
