Customer service and location office need to be improved. Truck should be picked up and returned full. Now the customer has to guess how much gas needs to be put in. Truck return process is not great, office was closed at 3pm.RENE V.

My experience with UHaul was a complete disaster. I was forced to take a smaller truck than I reserved and had to leave several pieces of furniture behind in the trash. I called the evening before to confirm my reservation that I made weeks before because nobody contacted me to confirm as was promised in the initial email. After waiting an hour to talk to someone, I was informed my pick up location had changed from Basso Lounge downtown Toronto to Scarborough. Aside from not being notified of this in advance, this was a huge inconvenience and problem since I had movers arriving at 9am and my building elevator booked for that time. After talking to a customer service representative for 30 minutes to try to fix this problem, they figured out the truck wasn't even in Scarborough but in Belleville!!! So I would have traveled all the way to Scarborough for no reason during morning rush hour for a truck that wasn't even there. So, in the end, I still had to travel much further than I arranged to pick up the truck at yet another location at a later time than I reserved. I was late to meet the movers and lost time on my strictly scheduled elevator booking. But most importantly, I was only given a 20ft truck rather than the 26ft truck I reserved. This resulted in me having no other choice but to discard over $1200 worth of furniture!! I've never had a worse experience with a business than this one!! Also, they didn't even give me the 12 moving blankets I reserved, that being the least of all the problems during this transaction.LUCASAMEDEO B.

We reserved a 15' foot truck almost two months in advance of our move out date. We were notified 4 days prior that our truck had been down graded to a 10' truck due to unavailability/overbooking. No other locations had 15' trucks to reserve that close to the date. The fact that you aren't guaranteed the vehicle you book baffles me. By law, we needed to be moved out of our rental apartment by July 1st. We had no choice but to have to make two trips between Toronto to London in one day in order to get our stuff out of the apartment to our new place as a result of the truck being too small (not what we ordered). I risked my life and others lives having to make those two trips on the road - fighting exhaustion while driving. I will do everything in my power to encourage people not to use Uhaul and I will never use this service again. But it doesn't matter, UHaul could care less, their front line employees take the brunt of all these disgruntled customers, and they continue to maintain market share in Canada. This was the worst experience I've had with a company in my life.Scott A.

That was my first time renting a cargo van for a move and everything went perfect. I gave a call a day before my initial pick-up to confirm all the details and got all the answers to my questions in a very polite manner. On the day of the move the van was ready fro us on time, clean and the pick-up/drop-of procedure was very easy. it is also very convenient that U-hawk sends you a reminder text messages regarding your reservation time - helps to track the time correctly. I'd only recommend to leave your place a bit earlier, as Eglinton West street is still under construction and we had to make an extra circle since the main road was closed. Otherwise, definitely recommend this u-hawl location for van/tracks rentals.ALEXEY P.

Mobile pickup was listed as an option when booking the u-haul so I booked my reservation for 8am only to find out on the day of by attempting to check-in and calling u-haul that this location does not have mobile pickup and I'd have to wait until 9am. The staff member didn't arrive until 9:10am which I get can happen and none of this was his doing or fault. I then was an hour late returning the truck because I got the truck an hour late and received a late penalty.GEOFFREY K.

The app was not working to register me. My truck was given to someone else while I was waiting for the app to register me. I was asked by the operator to use my phone while driving the truck. Someone's mask and water bottle were left in the truck when I got it.ALISON M.

I was double charged for my booking. When I pointed it out I was told it was a mistake and I'd get a refund on my credit card, and if I don't get it in 2-3 days I should call them at the number on the contract (the local office). Of course I never got the refund. I call the local office back three times before I get through to them (at least they called me back, which is appreciated). They tell me to call the 1-800 number instead because they can't help me. I call the 1-800 number and am asked to hold for 15-20 minutes, which turns into 35. From there it's smooth sailing though - the customer rep is courteous and helpful. My point is, I had to spend all this time to correct the mistake (or maybe intentional double-charging) of someone who even misdirected after the problem was made clear. Just to be safe, I'll do my best to avoid U-Haul in the future.Peter B.

Staff was 45 minutes late for opening and it ruined my plans for the entire move. When he finally arrived, my truck that was supposed to be ready to leave the lot at 9am (it was now 9:45am) was behind several other trucks, and when I asked we could switch to a truck that was accessible, the u-haul staff member complained, and pouted with his arms crossed as I called u-haul customer service to ask on his behalf. He sat there not getting my truck ready after everything that had already happened. I could not believe what was happening - I have never before in 34 years seen anything like it.WILLIAM B.
Was not delivered the size of truck I wanted at the location I wanted. Was not given proper instructions on how to pick up the truck outside of the office hours. Had to wait 45 min for u haul 1800 number to pick up. Had to pay a penalty movers waiting because I could not pick up the truck at the time promised.YOCHANAN S.
The van we rented was blocked by another van, had to call for assistance. The number given by the website was out of service. Location on google maps told us to go to shawarma express, which there was no signage for. We had to go around the block and park behind, but with construction this was hard to do. If there was a notice to park behind at 231 linvingston rather then shawarma express it would have gone much smoother. Everything else was good. Luckily the staff were very helpful and prompt even though the it was outside of working hours. Also very friendly.Jenna R.
