The location where we actually got a truck was great! The experience before getting the truck was HORRIBLE! We scheduled days in advance to pick up a truck at a location at 2pm. When we arrived at that location, that person said we weren't scheduled there. She looked on her computer and told us we were scheduled at another location down the road. We never received any notice that the location was changed. No email, no phone call, no text. I asked that person if the location where UHaul had changed us to was still open and she said that they closed at 1pm (so they had closed an hour before our scheduled pickup time). UHaul not only changed our pickup location without notifying us but also made it at a location that wasn't open for the time we requested pickup. The person at our chosen pickup location was very helpful. She called the location where UHaul had switched us to and the man who answered said he would check on it but that he wasn't at the building. The perspon at our chosen location advised us to go ahead and drive to the new location. So we drove to the new location and it was closed ... but a guy in a truck was talking to another guy and told the other guy to go ahead and rent us a truck. As that guy took us in the building, he made a point to tell us it was his day off. Then when he sat down at his desk he said that our reservation was gone from me calling UHaul to figure out where we were supposed to get a truck. Then he asked if we were really supposed to be down the road. I showed him the paper that the original location person had printed for us with their address and he told me we needed the location down the street ... even though the paper we had showed their address and that was the address we put in our GPS. I had called UHaul while driving from our requested location to the location where UHaul moved our request, and that person told me that he had sent a text of where to get our truck, but that if the person where we were could get us a truck to go ahead and take it. Since the person at the 2nd location was unhelpful and was trying to send us to a different location (even though we were at the location that UHaul had moved our reservation), I decided to call the number from the text that UHaul had sent. The person at the UHaul location where I was sent via text by UHaul was SUPER HELPFUL (thus the good rating given for the location rating). We went to her location and ended up getting a truck from her. Before scheduling this truck online days ahead of Saturday, I had gone into a local UHaul (Indianapolis) to get information and I also called a number that the local UHaul location had given me. I did everything I was supposed to do in order to make sure we had a truck scheduled to pick up in Michigan on Saturday. Due to this experience, I will never pre-arrange a truck from UHaul. The only way I would rent a truck from UHaul is if I walk into a store to rent a truck and walk out with keys and a truck.

What U-haul company can do to improve the next customers experiences is to tell the truth about the prices up front NOT when the customer get ready to pay. Don't tell one price on phone then another when the customer get ready to pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dealing with Mark in the marketing department, was the absolute worst customer service experience I've ever had. When dealing with customers, it is very unprofessional to express your personal feelings about anything unless you're asked by the customer. For the record, I did not ask for his personal opinion. For him to state " giving you a $50 credit is $50 more than I ever would have done for you", is not a good example of trying to help a customer with a concern. Also implying that I did not want to pay for the services rendered is another rude and unprofessional thing to do, which Mark stated if you listen to the phone call. His tone and demeanor was cold, dry and condescending. As a result of Mark's unprofessionalism, I am very likely never to use the services of Uhaul again and tell everybody I know about this horrible customer service experience. I certainly hope Mark's attitude is not a reflection of what the company represents because if it is, it is not a good representation of Uhaul at all! William J. Badger

Never secured the trailer. Chains dragging almost snapped. One chain never attached. Manager was going to let me take it and said i cant find your light hook up. Just take it and don't drive at night and you wont have blinkers or lights. Trailer came off and hit my suv and damaged it. I just bought this cuv its a 2019. I also besides the refund im getting i want the 100 i paid for insurance. I was told by Steve from Saginaw area that it was not written down that i paid it. Im fighting that right now and i could of died or killed someone.

The experience as a whole was just fine, but the thing that made it terrible was the security deposit. I had done the express checkout online, but then when my parents went to pick up the truck we were informed of the $100 security deposit. Ok, no problem, here’s my card info. It took AN HOUR AND A HALF for the system to accept it—and then, only because they ended up paying cash! I gave them two different cards 6 different times, but it wouldn’t take it. Then trying to get the deposit back from another uhaul site was ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF, and that site said it was because the Saginaw location did something wrong and jacked it up. That did not help ease the stress of moving at all. Uhaul needs to fix their stupid software that makes this difficult, which both sites that we dealt with said has made this very difficult for many people, not just us.

compromise with customer for over fueling when only 4 miles over estimate.... $0.79 per mile versus 2.54 a gal. of fuel.... NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT... will use and refer other rental services in the future!!
