I was told a rate over the phone with Jakie and then when checking out in person, the rate doubles. The truck was dirty and the customer service was poor.

Not only was I not informed properly that my merchandise location did not change when I got the email about the change in van location, they did not give me my already paid for merchandise when I accidentally went to the wrong van location site. I had to go back. The manager did say sorry. Then there was no parking left for my car. Also both sites did not have the much needed furniture dolly I had reserved. Thankfully, Kat at Public Storage ( the new van rental site) had amazing CSR skills. She made the overall brutal weekend of moving less aggravating with how sweet and helpful she was! Vikram Khanna

Reginald MerrittLocation was great, difficult to park when crowded, but great staff. I had some issues with dropping off due to the small location and way too many uhauls, but on-site staff was great. Unfortunately when I attempted to try to reach uhaul customer serve before the on-site staff arrived, that was a whole different issue, they were rude and had no way to help assist me. I missed my scheduled events for the morning due to this issue. I did however very much appreciate the kindness of on-site staff for making it so much easier once they opened the doors

Nicole FerrelThe lady working the front counter is a complete stress case where I picked up the truck ( Security Public Storage) on Mchenry Ave Modesto, CA She was rude to the customers behind me in line, as well as on the phone. She was literally shaking, no idea what her problem was. I NEVER write reviews, but she’s horrible, and the face of the company. Also the truck was so dirty, I could barely see out of the windshield when I picked it up. Also, instead of picking up the truck at the U-Haul location, I had to drive down the street to security Public Storage to pick it up and then go back to the U-Haul location and pick up all my supplies which was a complete inconvenience as we were pressed for time during our move . Unless something changes , next time I will be trying to find another company for sure, and I have been using U-Haul on and off for years..

Neal grenierThe people who helped me were super nice and kind. However, I do say that the location is not ideal. The parking lot is really small and when even just one or two U-Haul box trucks are there it becomes impossible to enter. Plus, there's only one way in/out and very little room to turn around. It was scary to encounter, especially when we were returning at night and I had to back out into a busy road. Probably won't rent again from this location because of that issue.
Amanda PUTNAMI originally made the reservation at Kansas Ave location, rez was moved to McHenry Ave location, adding miles, and no other solution was given. At McHenry, we were unaware of the need for a CC to reserve, as that was not required at Kansas, so location policies are inconsistent. Even though rez was moved from Kansas to McHenry, our personal insurance did not transfer, but at check-in the employee did not state this, and so I was charged without warning for U-Haul insurance.

KENNETH PEOPLESIt was obvious that someone had been smoking in the truck, ashes there were ashes on the floor near the driver seat and middle floorboard. We swept them out prior to returning so we would not be blamed. Staff did a very poor job checking our truck in and out. Input the wrong starting mileage which made it look like my 5 mile trip was 40+ miles. Thankfully, I took a photo of the starting mileage so they corrected this. They also wrote down the wrong amount of gas the truck was returned with but by the time we got to this point, I simply couldn’t keep correcting them anymore and just wanted to leave. Through all of these errors, they did not even apologize or act like they were sorry for all of the hassle. The manager even said “we had to other mileage errors yesterday too!” Knowing that, why would you be surprised that I am the third error your team made? She said “luckily, I took a photo” which means if I hadn’t, I would have paid all of that extra money? Looking back, there was no opportunity for me to catch an error like that. During checkout, I was not provided with a report showing the starting mileage they logged so as the customer, how was I supposed to catch such a big discrepancy? All of this, for a 5 mile round trip rental to pick up a Christmas tree. Very poor customer service! In good conscience, I could never recommend this location.

Michael OvantesI rented the truck for a day, A DAY! But because I said I probably only need it for 8 hrs but instead used it for 12hrs they charged me for 2 days and double the insurance, also charged me for a dolly I never used! I've read all the bad experiences but because it never happened to me I didn't think anything of it. I will no longer be using them.

Lindsey TowellI over paid on the fuel. You should check the vehicle full. It’s not fair the way system work. With fuel at over $5.50 a gallon it is a big deal. I probably paid $30.00 more than I should have.
JOHN MIGUELI picked up the van and it was at almost 3/4 tank. When I returned the van I made sure that it was over 3/4 tank. I was charged 37 in gas fee!!!!!!!! I was told by a U-Haul representative in a chat that they had issued me a refund for this charge. I just checked my credit card and it has not been refunded!!!!!
Kimberly WeimerThis location did NOT have all 3 items on the list. Only had truck! Told me to go to the next door location for the padding and appliance dolly. They ONLY had the padding & not the dolly. Said the dolly is in Manteca. I asked if she told them I was coming from Modesto. No she says. I asked about the phone #. No she says & the other employee didn't know either. I say maybe I should Google it. She walks away with hand flying upwards saying There you go. Had to Google the# and the waiting list was 15 minutes so I a start driving to Manteca, after having put my phone # on the call back list. NO CALLBACK. The employee at Manteca wasn't good either but I got the dolly!

Patrick GallardoFirst i went to wrong location so i had to walk up the street to get to which you would never know it was a uhaul place then they didnt have the plastic wrap i paid for or thebutility dolly so i had to ttavel.down to the original uhaul to get those then i realized front tire code comes up and gas on empty so i went back to uhaul and they said oh the tore is fine and just go put gas in it andbi was like will i make it to the gas station and they giggled and said yes. No it was not a good experience. That was bad business.
Audra RolettoI picked up the rental at 5 PM but it was treated as having rented for a day, causing me to have a four day rental rather than a three day rental. I was unfamiliar with how to operate the features of the van, it would have been nice to have a quick guide to the controls of the vehicle.
