This drop-off site was not one I chose. I chose one in [city] but I got a telephone call from a man at U-Haul who said that my preferred drop-off site had too many trucks, and that I needed to go to the [other U-Haul location]. When I turned in the truck and keys,I had a very brief interaction with a gentleman at the drop-off site. He refused to issue me any paperwork which said I had returned the truck with [##] odometer reading and a full gas-tank. He waved his arms in the air and said I could drop the key off in the key box and return the truck at any U-Haul. It turned out OK, after all. I received an email about the return, saying that I was (only) charged extra for an extra 8 miles on the odometer. (Hey, U-Haul, I would't have had the extra miles on the odometer if I had been able to return the truck at my preferred drop-off site instead of the [second] site that your company told me to use. Whatever, I got mixed messages about the drop off site and I paid extra for it, but at least I wasn't charged extra for anything else.)

Fucking nightmare. I was supposed to drop it off at the Daly City location but it was full so the person in charge forwarded me to this body&paint shop in the middle of a really really sketchy neighborhood. I returned the truck and dropped off the keys almost 20 hours in advance, and added more fuel than I used and the tank was close to being full when I left. Two days later when they opened up I got charged close to 300 dollars extra for returning the truck 2 days late and a completely empty tank????? The mileage increased by 53miles, so tell me how the fuck can I use up the full 24 gallons of gas with 53 miles??? And why the fuck would I steal gas from the truck I’m renting when you guys have my credit card on file??? This whole experience with u haul was stupid and shady as fuck! When y’all make bad decisions to have an ungated parking lot in such a sketchy neighborhood, and sketchy people end up stealing gas directly out of your gas tank, DON’T FUCKING MAKE YOUR CUSTOMER PAY FOR IT

Key box for after hours drop off is broken so you can’t use it. Voicemail box for the company is full so couldn’t leave any message detailing where we left the keys (thru the mail slot). Also got charged an extra $45 without any quoted reason. Filled the gas tank to full when I had picked it up at 3/4 a definitely should not have been charged any extra money.

There was no labeled place for key drop off. I had to wait for closer to 30 minutes to get on a phone with a customer service to figure a solution. A clearly labelled instruction on where to drop off the keys when returning a van could have made the experience better.

I was not presented the contract prior to signing and my truck was said to be at 13/16th full tank however when I got the truck, the truck had an empty tank which caused a large discrepancy when returning the truck. More careful attention to these details would be better for avoiding this issue.

Truck smelled like homeless person(s) had slept in it. It was extremely dirty! Truck didn't have working audio system, among other issues. Really bad experience.
