No one helped hook the trailer to vehicle or ensured lights were working

This location was listed with 24/7 truck share. Unfortunately, because of this I couldn't pick up the truck as early as I wanted. Causing me to lose an hour on my reserved time of 10 hours. Thankfully we finished a bit earlier than planned and was able to make it back on time to return truck. Other than that, our experience was great.

My reservation had been cancelled before I arrived, ( I did get a larger truck) but was told the mileage fees would be taken care of for the inconvenience of my having to re-order. The inside of the truck was filled with leaves and the blankets were in a heap. My son and I swept and folded the blankets. When I returned the truck and complained about the truck and that total charges were not what I was told they would be, then the clerk cursed me. 540 776-7505 Thanks Randy

Requested an appliance dolly wasn't told till pick up one was not available. Passenger side mirror busted to where use was extremely limited. Got charged an additional $14 for insurance and another full day because I brought truck back 2.5hrs later than said due to 2 wrecks on Interstate 81 that day! I have used U-haul for years I PROMISE I will NEVER use again!!! Workers were at least nice!

When I notified the agent of my problems; all I received where horror stories of other customer that had worse problems; and there were many. There was no "I'm sorry", no "I'll make sure that's fixed" nothing. U-haul is convenient for me and I'll be renting again from someone in the next 6 months - I'm not sure it will be U-haul.

When a customer rents the vehicle the rent mgr SHOULD walk out to ensure himself AND the customer that THE FUCKIN GAS GAUGE IS ON FULL!!! I got in truk, gas gauge was on 7/16ths of a tank...When I turned it in I had refilled to 7/16ths of a tank. Woke up this morning to find out that drop off location had CAPPED tank off and I was charged for it!!!! The fukin gas in truk wasnt full when I got it!!!!! Ive put STOP PAYMENT to uhaul pending a responce and a adjustment of bill. Also the truk had been cleaned after my use and THAT was added to my bill.....im not disputing the mileage at all but Ill be DAMNED if Im paying for something I DID NOT USE!!!! PAYMENTS ON HOLD!!!! U-HAUL GET ON TOP OF THIS NOW!!!! I AM NOT PAYING FOR THAT FUEL I DID NOT USE!!!!!! TRACY MARTIN for CHARLTON MARTIN

Very good service. but your app was terrible for reporting differences. It said 'add picture' I select camera, take a picture, but then it wouldnt upload, so I had to take a picture outside the app, and then select a file in the app. and then it would restart and I would have to fill in the information again!! Using a newer Android phone by Moto Z4.

Everything that could be over charged was very unhappy was charged twice and added 20 miles on top of that guessing someone before me lied about the mileage because they didn’t check just asked now I’m out money that was advertised differently and I have to wait days for a refund or if I will even get one done with U-Haul what a scam

Had to go to 3 uhaul before I could drop truck. Guy at 1st location in salem va no help at all. Guy at 2nd location made a call and finally got me where I needed to go. Long day!!

Have paper forms available to rent equipment in the case of a system wide failure so vehicles could be used. Spend more time training the rental locations on how to use and connect equipment. The videos are nice but not enough. Empower point of contact personnel and customer service reps to make decisions instead of saying "I don't have the power to do that." Keep supervisors present to "make those decisions" instead of hoping customer concerns will go away and be forgotten.

My initial pick-up location was 2902 Hershberger Rd in Roanoke, VA and this was one of the most unpleasant customer service experiences. To start, my truck was supposed to be ready at 10:30 am, and once we arrived we were told that they did not have the truck and that the customer who was supposed to drop it off in-time for my use hadn’t done so. In my head I am thinking, “Ok, that’s not my problem.” The uHaul worker who assisted my family was unable to problem solve, and uncaringly stated that, “sometimes this just happens and the only thing I can do is call the customer, but he isn’t answering the phone.” I preceded to ask the UHaul worker, “so what are we going to do to resolve this issue?” The young man working did not seem to know or really care how to help me. He stated that I could come back when he thinks the next size 15’ truck would be in. I then received a text stating that the truck would be ready at 1 pm. In the interim, I called the customer service line to see if I could get a discount and also, to find a new 15’ truck, and the person I had the “pleasure of speaking with” said that is something they have to fix in-store and they could not do that over the phone. We left and came back at 1pm and were told that they still did not have the truck. At this point, I am frustrated, because I am on a timed schedule and everything has been pushed back on my end. When my brother preceded to ask for a discount the uhaul worker laughed and stated, “you want a discount but you aren’t even driving the truck.” This was very upsetting. Yes, we were asking for a discount for the time loss. We are paying for a service and that service was not rendered. They said they had no managers on duty to even process a discount and they could not do it. I was adamant on not leaving their business until they fixed my issue. Another uhaul worker showed up and looked for another truck in the area, he was slightly more helpful than the other UHaul worker. He found a truck about 30 min away (Salem Mini Mart) and stated the there was a 15’ truck available that we could pick up.” We had to ask for these gentleman (uhaul employees) to do everything we needed of them. They lacked initiative and motive to do their job and failed miserably at providing good quality customer service. I felt as though they really didn’t not care or even try to understand why we were so Frustrated. One of the uhaul employees spent a great deal of time communicating with someone over the computer trying to change our pick-up location from Hershberger to Salem. When we brought up a discount again, they stated we needed to call the customer service line, which we had already done. On our way to the Salem location, we called the customer service line, again. The agent on the phone stated that our location had not been moved to Salem, therefore we had to explain our ENTIRE situation over AGAIN! And make the transfer on our own. We complained about our experience and filed a complaint. We were

Although the dealer was very friendly she did my reservation all wrong. I had a reservation already in the system that she should have used and instead she created a whole new one and had told me that this was what she was told to do. This caused me to wait in store for about an hour and caused issues with the whole reservation.

Drop off location was okay. It was a mini mart so we had to unload and park trailer ourselves on their lot without any help from the elderly store clerk. She seemed unsure how to check us out so she called someone on the phone for directions while we waited. But eventually we were correctly checked out.

The people handling the return had obviously not done it before showing there had been no real training. It took a lot longer than it should have to return the truck. A good training for the employees at the location would go a long way in helping the associates be better prepared.

I was having trouble getting into my account because of a location identifier issue. I went into the store to ask for help & the lady in the store pulled up my account & could see my reservation, but instead of helping me she focused on my zip code & said that it was wrong when it wasn't. She kept typing something in the zip code field & it kept giving her an error so she proceeded to argue with me that I didn't know my zip code & it wasn't correct. She literally threw up her hands & said she couldn't help me. She didn't call or ask someone else in the store for help. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service from her. The only reason I ended up with the truck is because I called the 1800 # & a customer service agent helped me & stayed on the line as I had to go back itno the store & a guy was in the store that was very helpful.

What a joke. I used this place twice in the last 2 weeks. First time was perfect. In and out with no problems. The second time the pick up went great. Upon return I was charged a $21.00 fuel charge for only going 8.0 miles! I even took a picture of the mileage and the fuel gauge before leaving and the attendant I dealt with when dropping he truck off couldn’t care less. I questioned the charge and he would only repeat speak with the company. He must of said that 7-8 times. Piss poor customer service. Called the Uhaul customer number and the girl answering the phone was nice and told me someone would be contacting me but a day and a half later still no response from the territory manager. I am new to Virgina and didn’t have access to a truck when I needed it so I throught that Uhaul would be a good alternative but my last experience was less than stellar. I don’t think I’ll ever be back. Warning to possible Uhaul users, take a picture of the mileage and fuel gauge other wise you will be charged a $21.00 fuel surcharge for driving their truck exactly 8 miles....

It took a very long time to pick up my truck. It smelled inside (but later that went away). I also contracted for a dolly and 12 blankets. At the pick up location they had neither and said I needed to go elsewhere because they couldn't reduce my charge. My husband went to the other location and was given blankets and a hand truck. We didn't want a hand truck, as we already have one, we wanted a dolly. When I called about the drop off location being changed, I also asked about the dolly and was told I'd need to contact the place where I got it for a refund. The place my husband got it is not where we rented it and they had already told me that they couldn't reimburse us, thus we were just out the rental and had to make do with no dolly.

Clearly rented a 10' truck but was charged for a 15'. Rented for up to 6 hrs & was charged for 2 full days. Also, mileage was 0.89 per mile but used 6.8 miles & they charged $6.05 for mileage. .089 cents a mile x 6.8 miles is not $6.05. It may only be a matter of .40 something cents but still!!! It was clear to employee Amy that I was renting a 10' truck so why was I charged for a 15' rate? Horrible service!!

The staff was rude, and made us wait 20 minutes while he checked people out, as it is a gas station also. When we brought the cargo van back he tried to charge us for gas and for the mileage, which for in town use the requirement is for mileage only. He insisted until we called the U-Haul customer service number. It was a frustrating and stressful situation. We just moved to the area 8 days ago, and used a 26 footer plus a car carrier, and it went very smooth; therefore we know U-Haul is a good company, but this makes me wonder if this certain place charges people for gas and mileage all the time. Sad.

All Blacksburg drop-off locations were filled so they diverted us to this location in Salem. There was no indication of where the office was located (it was part of the mini-mart as I eventually discovered), but the clerk was helpful. Ideally, I should be reimbursed for the extra gas i burned to drive 35 miles to the other drop-off.

During operating hours - no personnel to help. Had to unhook trailer myself and figure out a way to make it stay in a slanted parking lot. Not this locations fault - but had to drop off approx 30 mins away from originally scheduled location due to other locations in original city being “too full”
