Truck keys were not properly placed in the lock box. I was not able to retrieve the vehicle via the app like I was supposed to. I sent over 1 hour on the phone with uhaul trying to fix the issue. Once in the truck there was a mess of spilled, sticky soda I had to clean up and the windshield seems to have never been cleaned. When paying a premium for a rental I expect it to be clean and ready to go. I have already spoken to uhaul about this for some sort of price adjustment and I was told I would be receiving a call. Still waiting.

This complaint is strictly for U-Haul and not for Restas, there was nothing wrong with the actual location pick-up location. The gas station attendees had no control over how you manage your rentals. The issue lies in the process of trying to pick-up the actual vehicle. Everything had to be handled via the U-Haul app, which did not work at all. When I tried getting in contact with an agent it forwarded it over to a useless teleprompt service which was no help at all. The app finally gave up and said to do the process on their website instead. Then after all the verification codes were finally sent and done with, I was required to give the phone number of someone else so that they could call and verify who I was as well. The whole process was lengthy and convoluted. We ended up being almost an hour late to our location because of how inefficient this process was. Thankfully dropping off the rental was much simpler and just required photos to prove we left the rental in good condition.
Michael FNo one was willing to help at Restas Car Care. If they are not interested in u-Haul business then why they have this facility of rental at their place. Earlier I had requested for Edison location for pick up but that location was changed to Princeton and no one called me about that change the day before pickup (Jun 27th). Also when I went at Princeton Location (Airpark Rd), the person was very rude and vaping. He was not willing to give the truck even it was booked as roundtrip and drop-off was that same location for ($100 with $85 discount). He was overcharging me almost $277 and was in hurry to close his shop. Not sure why u-Haul gave that facility for rental to him. He lost the business due to his attitude. Later I had to call u-Haul and got the Somerset location. All this mess wasted my 4 hrs. If u-Haul doesn't have truck available on pickup day then why it is reserved before 15th day back. Also if you are changing the location then why can't it be asked which location is suitable for customer few days before pickup? It is very unprofessional to do this at 11th hr and customer will not be having any other option. Ideally u-Haul should have refund the amount as this was not the service expected by 1st time customer.

Keith SI have an android on a pixel phone and the app made the experience very difficult and frustrating. When I would rotate my phone to take a picture it would bounce me back to the home page. When trying to scan the back of my driver's license the button to do the scan was not on the screen, I had to scroll down to find it. I will never use the app again.
mike sI like the self checkout option. The process should be described during the time of the online reservation so the customer is prepared. I got a call about scanning my license 10 minutes before which I had to do again when I got there going through the app. The app is fairly user friendly for a 45 year old and younger people. It would frustrate older people.

SHIEKH SNothing wrong with the location or the equipment, but the mobile app and check in process were very frustrating. At the very least you should warn people that the process can take a 1/2 hour and make it more clear what they will need in advance.
Chad CMy original reservation was at American Tire in Hillsborough. We arrived only to find they did not have our truck available. However, they did find us what we reserved at the Somerset location. A small inconvenience for pickup, but an easier drop off.

He did not disclose or offer Safe Move while I was in the office but went ahead assume I needed it and charge me anyway aside from the fact that their printer doesn't work, therefore I went home without a receipt of what I'm getting charge. He made my move VERY STRESSFUL.

I had your van just over 2hr put more gas then I started with drove 37 miles total at a cost of 93 dollars. That's not counting gas. I will rent somewhere else next time.

It just went into a page with 4 points and asked me to drop off the keys. before that it complained about no location even though my location was on. Also based on the video it seems like there are too many steps to return. It would help if you simplified it.

Syed HI thought the rental experience was negative. I did everything on line only to wait 1/2 hour at station for them to complete process. The truck did not come with ramp as advertise. The station closed early so I had to do self check out or would be charged $20. I retuned it with more gas and I get no credit.
Julia TThere was so many things wrong with the truck that I had. - There was so many dents and scratches - The tire pressure was low - The windshield wiper was dirty and of course it pores when I rented. That's just to name a few. I will never use U-Haul again.
Walter FI booked a 5am mobile pickup and was told to come back at 9am because the keys were not placed in the lock box. Our entire move was delayed due to this inconvenience. Customer service was not helpful and placed us on hold with the main menu as the "waiting line". Overall, we will not be using this location or UHaul services in the future.

SREEJITHKUMAR CWe reserved for a 20 foot truck to be picked up at Monmounth Junction 1:00pm on 10/31, but was told the night of 10/30 that only a 17 foot truck was available at 1873 Amwell Road. This means (1) we could not get all of our items in one cargo, and (2) we had to drive at least 15 additional miles. At the end when we returned the vehicle to the same location, a Shell gas station, around 8:30pm, we tried our credit card, which was authorized, but could not refill fuel perhaps because the station was closed. So we had to drive another 10 miles to get refill. Overall, it was quite a frustrating experience to say the least.

CLARANDA JDO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!!!! Location forgot the dolly. Due to the missing dolly, I was unable to move any large items. I called the location and he wanted me to drive 60 miles (@.99 mile + gas 3.50 gallon) to retrieve it. He couldn't care less about the expense to me. I He said I should take it up with UHaul. Uhaul said I should take it up with him. Both entities should realize that I just had a newborn baby and her mother with suffering from health conditions due the pregnancy. They are taking further hurting my family financially.

Souvik SMy wife and I went to drop off the car on Sunday night. We used the online App to close out. I kept trying to upload my odometer and gas reading picture to the app and it kept failing. I tried many many times. I made sure the U-Haul app had permissions to my phone. It did not work. I called U-Haul was sent to customer service then tech support for about a hour on hold. Then I went home with the van. Called customer service asked to speak to the manager and they hung up on my. Waited 10 minutes called back and asked to speak to the manager and they hung up on me again. I will never use U-Haul again due to the disrespect I received from this company.

Scott WThe process of picking up your U-Haul any time you wanted showed no detailed instructions. No step-by-step instructions. I arrived at 7am. Did not know where to find the keys. I went to several other U-Haul's to try to obtain a truck. Finally, I returned to the original location and was told by the gas station personnel they did not know how the process worked either. We called Customer Service several times and were kept on hold. We finally figured the little black box may hold the secret. We opened it, found a key; it was not locked. Another renter pulled up and together we figured out whose truck was whose. An hour from the original start time, we had the truck. While we were driving the truck, we received a call from someone from U-Haul that explained my paperwork to rent the truck was not complete and the truck could be reported stolen. So, while driving, I confirmed the information; i.e., copy of license via phone. The truck was great. The process was horrible; a nightmare.

We were told there was a guaranteed truck for us at our storage facility location (U-Haul owned), but there was not. We were not told this until we showed up to pick up the truck and were redirected to the above location as well. This is the fourth time in the past year that I have used U-Haul and this has happened EVERY time. Unfortunately, I will no longer be using U-Haul and I will also be sharing my negative experiences with my family/friends who are also moving this month.

David LFirst of all, one of the staffs in the office didn't a mask on and there was no effort of social distancing or use of plastic screen between him and a customer. This is unacceptable to put your customers lives at risk in a pandemic. Secondly, the check out experience was the worst. I have used U-Haul in other locations and never experienced such customer service. The staff couldn't check out the vehicle for me and sent me a few invalid links, and was very inattentive the whole time. I ended up figuring out myself and went through the on-line check in. However, he couldn't figure out the keys after all the work and we had to wait till his other colleague to help, who was way more professional and had mask on and use plastic screen at his desk.

Donald Myou sent several emails about the process, but most did not have a link to log into your account to handle the transaction. Very frustrating and easy to fix. The online experience can be greatly improved. Do some user testing and you will be able to make improvements that should not cost much money and will make for a better user experience.

Sean FI had to rent during the pandemic to move my college student out and it felt very safe. Both the facility and the truck were clean and the employees were friendly and quick. Location is at a gas station, which was very convenient for refueling before return.
