The person who put the trailer on my truck did not secure the ball hitch, when driving down highway 57 in a construction zone the trailer detached itself from the truck and almost killed us and almost caused a huge accident with other vehicles. It kept swaying back and forth hammering my truck and pushing the back end, surprised it didn't flip over. I was able to get up and over the embankment, my son and I had to lift and get the trailer back on the ball. tons of weight. This guy who hooked up the trailer said he had a broken hand, no excuse, it could have killed my wife and I and others on the road.Raymond K.

The rental experience was great overall. Equipment was outstanding. Two quick suggestions: the pick up was a bit confusing. Would be nice if agent who confirms pick up location had a quick sheet if location specific pick up details. The wait time to speak to an agent when calling back to confirm my pick up location was 58 minutes. That's a bit crazy. The agent who called was rushed but efficient.Jason R.

The return process was a nightmare. Your website is not clear at all. The directions on the paper given to me say to go to uhaul.com\share to do a self return. which i did becuase the return location said their computers were down and they couldnt help me. i then clicked the return button, but when you go to that next page it gives you options to log in or to look up your contract. I selected look up contract, but if you use that option it no longer gives you the option to continue the return process. It seems the only way to complete the return is to log in, which was not clear at all. So I tried to reach out by phone, bu thtere was over an hour wait on the phone, so I tried online chat, which your message suggests, after 30 minutes of waiting for chat when it said it would take 14 munutes, they just said they couldnt help at all. so back to the phone to wait over an hour only to have it hang up as soon as it connected us. super horrible experience in so many ways.steve H.

My reservation was originally scheduled for July 9, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. to be picked up at the Mokena location off Front Street. Around 8:00 p.m. on July 8, I received a text from U-Haul letting me know I could start the check out process online. I noticed the reservation details had changed and my pick up was now scheduled for July 9 at 12:00 p.m. in the Richton Park location. I called the Mokena location and spoke with the owner who then informed me that the truck they originally had reserved for me wasn't working properly so she was going to go to the Shorewood location to see if she could get me a truck to be picked up the following morning in Mokena. She called me around 7:30 a.m. on July 9 to confirm that she was able to get a truck for me so my original reservation could still be honored. We arrived in Mokena to pick up the truck and during the check out process, the owner (who checked us out) nor the employee who showed us where the truck was informed us of a check in process if the truck was to be returned after hours other than to fill the gas back up to where it was when we picked it up, where to drop off of the keys and where to park the truck. I ended up getting charged a $20 convenience fee on my credit card because no one told me I had to verify the return of the equipment online if I was returning it after hours. I have moved many times and I have rented from U-Haul before, and I have never been informed of any kind of online check in process nor have I ever been charged a $20 convenience fee for a U-Haul representative having to do it for me. Had I been told that I needed to check the truck back in online after dropping it off, I would have done it. I am very disappointed in the lack of good and quality customer service (just in general these days) but with this entire U-Haul experience. First, my reservation gets changed and no one notifies me; I have to call to find out after receiving a text message to begin the online check out process. Then, I am not informed of the complete check in process when we checked out the truck which resulted in me getting a charged a ridiculous convenience fee. At this point, not only would I probably not use U-Haul again for anything, I would definitely not recommend them to anyone either. It's very unfortunate as I've generally had good experiences with U-Haul over the years and thought it was the better option versus hiring a moving company since my last three experiences with moving companies have been disasters.Erin G.

The screwjack on the car trailer needs to be replaced. It took the gorilla in me to turn the crank handle to get the trailer uncoupled/coupled/uncoupled/coupled. The EZ load ramp on that new truck was disappointing. It should be a couple of feet longer to reduce the ramp angle. Otherwise, all was well. The truck was a gas pig, as expected.Doug S.

Returning the rental using my smart phone not a very pleasant experience. I spent a hour trying to set up an account. No code for gate ever given, another uhaul rental person let us in. On return date, gate was wide open with no employees. The app does not take pictures, half an hour to get vehicle, half an hout to check out. Had to find out on reddit to not use the app and just use the website to take pictures. Vehicle was great but i will never again use online checkin/checkout. Will only go when employees are working.Brandon W.

After hours check-in with uhaul.com was a NIGHTMARE! It web app wouldn't continue on my android phone after I loaded pictures of the mileage and gas gauge. When I reloaded the page and tried again it wouldn't read the location from my phone. Finally we tried from my wife's iphone and got it to work but then it wanted me to take pictures of how clean the truck was, but by that time a worker had taken the key from me, moved the van behind a gate and locked up. It took me well over an hour to return the van using that POS web app.MICHAEL S.
