Picked this option as it stated that I could do a self service drop off after hours but the gate was locked at 5pm and I could not return my U-Haul..tried calling U-Haul and was on hold for an hour, finally when it got to my turn, the representative hung up on me.Samuel R.

I don't normally leave reviews, but this is one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Let me start by saying that the people at Produce Pro were fine - it is the U-Haul app that is terrible, as well as Nigel Singh (East Bay Rep) who is completely unprofessional. The U-Haul app is basically broken. Buttons don't work, pictures don't work, and it is overall a horrible experience. I would never recommend using this - it's so stressful and makes the simple process of checking out a van take so long. When I returned the van, the U-Haul app didn't work, so the kind person at Produce Pro checked it in for me. I received an email two days later automatically charging me for 60 additional miles (which I didn't drive). After I complained about this on the phone (why do I need to do this? a person validated the mileage... how can you change it post-hoc like that). Then, the following day, I receive an email from Nigel Singh (written completely unprofessionally) saying that the mileage will continue to be charged to me, and I will pay for $150 in damages that I did not do. It was very clear that someone else did the mileage and damages, and Nigel sloppily assumed it was me, without doing any work to check what had happened. After I insisted that he check with the people at Produce Pro, he emailed back saying that I was right, and he would refund the charge. To his credit, he fixed the problem. But it shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. I borrowed a van to drive 10 miles in about 2.5 hours. Returning it and trying to get rid of these extra charges took so much extra time, that I wish I had just hired movers in the first place. I am very serious when I say that I will *never* use U-Haul again.Pratik S.

I made reservations specially to returned the truck at the 6th Street location in Berkeley and it was DENIED upon arrival. What a POS. After numerous phone calls I found the San Pablo Av location. What's the point in having a reservation. BS way of doing business.Larry O.

I was still charged for the dolly which I couldn't use because the tires were so underinflated even one fairly light box flattened one of the wheels entirely but the staff and process was easy efficient and smooth so the dolly situation wasn't a huge dealBRENDAN W.

The location is very tough. It would be nice if the instructions to get to the window were more clear and a branded walkway to the window was marked on the ground with paint/vinyl all the way to the store. Otherwise it feels like you're in the wrong place. The service was excellent!LINOR V.

The problem wasn't with the location, but with uhaul. I have reserved a truck, a dollie and blankets and I wanted a self pick-up. When I showed up for the self pick up I was informed that I couldn't do it on my own. The truck that I got didn't come with the dolly and blankets I have reserved online.LEINE V.
I prefer this location. The guy on 640 W McArthur Blvd Oakland,CA. Messed up my previous rental. Tried to hold 100 dollars on my card which required me to go back to bank. He never called back or answered my multiple calls. I will never deal with that location. I live in that area and people constantly have problems. Feel free to call anytime. By mistake, I did not check the gas meter at beginning. It was way below 1/2 mark. I drove aroun 12 miles and refilled with 20$ of gas but still tank was not able to reach 1/2 mark. As a result of which I was charged ~50$ penalty.Shubham M.

They had the equipment I needed and for the most part everything was fine, but there were a couple issues. First, there are a lot of seemingly homeless people in front of the business constantly. I get that this is a bigger issue and I feel for these people but the fact is that it does still make me concerned for my car's safety. Given this, I looked for an out-of-the-way place to park that might be safer than the main grocery store lot so I parked in a back section next to some other non-uhaul cars, which I thought was probably fine. There were no signs saying this was not an acceptable spot to park. However, when I came back, the car was blocked in by trucks (not a big deal because the staff helped me resolve it but if I'd come back when the store was closed it would have been an issue) and worse, they had attached a sticker to the windshield right in front of the driver's seat saying my car was parked illegally and threatening to tow it. This sticker could not be removed by hand - I will have to use Goo-Gone. In the mean time, it was dangerous driving my car home because it was placed in the worst possible spot in terms of obscuring my vision. I understand that they expected me to know that this was not an acceptable spot, but the presence of other non-uhaul cars and the lack of signage made this difficult and now I have to deal with that sticker before I can safely drive again. My suggestions: -Safer parking options if possible -Clearer (or any) signage about any off-limits parking spots (it is clearer when there are lots of trucks present but when I picked up my rental there were barely any there so it just looked like a normal parking lot) -Reconsider the practice of placing stickers on cars - either don't do it so quickly, use a more easily removable sticker, or at least place it somewhere that will not impede safe operation of the car. The staff member who helped me during my return was helpful though and I appreciated her efforts to resolve everything.Jordan A.

Unfortunately this location was very disorganized and inconvenient. I scheduled a 4-hour rental 5-9, and on the day of, an employee called me and stated I had to arrive before 3 PM in order to get the truck. She gave no other information, however once I showed up informed me that I must also return the truck at 5. Despite preparing this rental days in advance, I was forced to entirely change my daily schedule to make up for the mistakes of the workers and U-Haul app. I was also extremely constrained on time, as I now had 2 hours instead of 4. Very disappointing and sad :(HANNAH W.
The website allowed me to make a reservation time at 6pm but the location's systems shut down at 6pm, so I was unable to pick up my rental the first time. This was frustrating as there were pickup times way past 6pm online as an option for this location. I ended up having to make alternate arrangements which was a major inconvenience for many parties involved. This was pretty unacceptable, but I don't blame the location, I blame your flawed system, so fix it.CARLOS G.

I received very good service but the area had a lot of people standing in the middle of the road drinking alcohol and acting intoxicated. It seemed unsafe so the area made me question why U-Haul would be there.DEBORAH W.
