Very friendly, knowledgeable, Porter Gas in Tangebt, OR, provided us a U-Haul Truck at the last minute, we had to be re-routed from another U-Haul location. They set us up with a 15' U-Haul truck and dolly, it ran perfectly, the whole interstate trip, great horse power, no mechanical issues at all, they added insurance and n it for us for only $56.00 peace of mind, perfect trip,Sherri M.

Staff had no idea how to work the uhaul website, computer was old and slow . It took me almost an hour to get the rental even though I booked it prior to coming in. Uhaul was disgusting and had ashes and dirt everywhere, even in the cab. There was nasty stuff in the cup holder and a fingernail clipping. Terrible experience!Randie M.

The truck still had trash all over it from the people before me. There were empty mountain dew cans rolling around, either beer or soda spilled on the seats, dog hair, pecan shells, and dirty paper towels. So how about cleaning the trucks in between users?Anna B.

The person I dealt with was super helpful and friendly. I was having the worst move ever and she made feel better. My only complaint that since I was alone I had to call a taxi and even though I was going only 3 miles it cost me $20 just because my pick up was in Tangent. Actually Porters was assigned to us after a while morning of mixed messages and our inability to pick up the truck from the location we had planned on. I was on the phone three times with U-Haul and that would include some horrific wait times. The first two people clumsily â€œhelped â€œ by 1) getting me disconnected and 2) on the second call he said little things like â€œwell I sure hope you can pick up your truckâ€ and â€œ I don't know why it says hand delivered instead of using the app to remotely get the codeâ€. Then when we did get to the place, the info did not show on the app and they were closed. When we called the local number provided, their cell service was so bad we couldn't have a conversation. When we called a second time some said â€œI can't take this call, I'm driving!â€ So we called U-Haul for the third time and spoke to a man who actually worked with us. The app would not upload my husband's license photo and so he worked around that. He finally was able to give us the code. It did not work on the designated box. So we tried the other two boxes and it didn't work on those either. Finally he sent us to Porters to get the size of truck we wanted. That took us 20 miles round trip for my car, my sons car and ten miles for the truck. So personally and with the truck we had extra costs. Porters was helpful and understanding and got us checked out pretty quickly. We lost so much time and had two places to drop off all the items we hauled. So we had to hurry to return it and return to our home in Salem. We did not refuel the truck. We went from 7/8 tank to 1/2 tank. The charge appears to be over $50. I don't know if that is overpriced for unleaded. The mileage says we went over as well, and that makes sense since the substitute U-Haul place was further away for us. So will U-Haul try to do right by us? Will there be a large credit added to our card to make up for this mess? You cannot imagine the stress this caused us and set us back two hours. We even had to pay $30 extra to board our dog since we couldn't get home in time to pick him up. I'm so bewildered by how hard this was today. We usually rent at Sounth Salem U-Haul on 12th street and just did Friday. We give them high marks and don't have problems. I'd say your guy in Lebanon where we first had a truck rental reservation. should maybe not be a dealer for you. I look forward to hearing backâ€"Linda LockwoodJeff G.

Staff at this location needs better training. We booked online and Porter's Fuel was the pick up location. We required an appliance dolly. The staff didn't know what one was and brought us a light duty hand truck but charged us for an appliance dolly. They did not attempt to locate us one. We ended up purchasing one at a local tool store The whole check-out process took much longer than expected. Better training would have made things much quicker and easier for both the associates and customers.michael S.

Pick up was fairly easy. They didn't inform me of the photos I needed to send in about damages on the vehicle which initiated a cascade of problems related to the link that is sent out that would expire on me well before the 30 minute timeframe and caused me making 4 contacts with u-haul to try and fix it. Eventually I just had to verbally communicate all of the issues over the phone with a rep. That was a terrible process.Chris L.

The lady never did a single check on the mileage nor damage, I was charged for a pack of 6 moving blankets that I didnt recieved, and I was charged for 190 miles which I did 3 round trips of 14 miles. The it took me over 45 minutes to pick up my uhaul and over an hour to drop it off. The Porter gas station attendants were untrained and didn't know how to sign out the truck to me. When dropping off the truck after only a few hours of use the system was down and they didn't know how to refund me for only using the truck for a few hours, even though I was charged for an entire day. The cab of the truck was not clean and I had to clean it myself so that would not be charged a fee upon drop off. I am still waiting for that reimbursement. I have had many great experiences with uhaul in the past, but after this very bad experience I will have consider using a different rental service if I move again in the future.Nicole H.
I was notified on Wed. Oct. 17,2018 that my U-Haul 10ft truck was not available at the Corvallis, OR location (where I had called directly to make the reservation) and could I go to Tangent, OR to pick up the truck. I arrived by 2 p.m. on Friday Oct. 19,2018, this is NOT a U-Haul store, this is a gas station/minimart. I spent 30-45 minutes there while they tried to locate a key for the vehicle, I called the 800 number that had changed my reservation pick up to Tangent, then I called the Corvallis U-Haul, I was told they had no 10ft. trucks at their location. Tangent location finally found a key in the lock box where no one at the site could get into, but somehow they got in. I signed no paperwork, they did not slide my credit card, as I was leaving I had to go back in and wait again to get a piece of paper that indicated that I had rented the vehicle. Since this was not a U-Haul store, I stopped at the Corvallis location to purchase straps. They had 5 or 6 of the exact same vehicles on the lot parked and ready to go, what a disappointment that I had a reservation, and it was not honored.Karen F.

Porter's fuel gets a big F for fail here! We waited over 40 minuets at check in and over 30 for check out because no one knew the computer program!! We were their only UHaul customer!!! Worst experience ever and will not return or recommend them to anyone!! We were over charged for furniture pads an extra $30.00, highway robbery at best!! They should not be in the UHaul business! When we picked up the 15ft UHaul it smelled of weed and had rocks everywhere. We spent more time cleaning the Uhaul from the last people than we did moving our stuff. It also took us forever to find this location. When you send an email saying â€œpick up at this locationâ€ you should probably specify if the location has a name. We were so confused picking up our truck we almost canceled and went somewhere else. We honestly should have it we wouldn't have been charged for it.Justine H.

I can not at present recommend Uhaul. While the service personnel are helpful, the computerized reservation system provides a different credit card charge from the pick-up location, and the service personnel worked valiantly to remove the additional charge but they were unable to override the centralized computer system. The customer call center experience is difficult to work with. The representatives, working out of your Colorado call center don't know the area in Oregon so have no idea what they are asking you as the customer to do when they suggest alternative pick up and/or drop off sites. The customer knows where these sites are - that is why you have their locations on your website. I found it very difficult to explain where the closest pick up and drop of sites were to the CSR. They had a different idea - probably based on their script - where I as the customer should go to get a truck and drop it off. The hours of operation for each of the sites is also different - they should have consistent hours of operation. I also gave my credit card number to reserve a truck not knowing where I would pick it up until I received a call back from the scheduling department (which I never received - a call back) instead I was sent an email that was equally confusing. My son was also asked for his credit card when he went to pick the truck up in Tangent. That is two credit card numbers that U-Haul asked for to schedule one truck. It is my opinion that U-Haul management needs to work with local providers and allow them to make arrangements on their scheduling website. A CSR from Colorado or another location cannot help a customer in Albany, Oregon with the details of their trip. It was suggested to me that I could take the U-Haul truck I scheduled for a move to West Salem to Tualatin in the Portland area and I would save $25; yet they didn't consider the time and cost it would take to inconvenience a second driver to take me back home on the freeway, in traffic during the rush hour. That was a ridiculous suggestion knowing how long it would take to get to Tualatin and back after moving a boatload of furniture and boxes of belongings when there was a drop off sight within 2-3 miles of my West Salem destination. Please trust your local vendors to work with your customers. I was very frustrated by the customer service call center experience both for this move and with my U-Haul experience the week prior. I did however, appreciate working directly with the vendor at Porter in Tangent. She was very personable and helpful with all of my concerns.Linda G.

The people who helped me were not trained in what to do. They give me the wrong truck to begin with and I had to let them know that I rented the larger one.I had to show my confermation to show I had reserved the larger one. They than took 2 hours to get everything done. Than when we returned it they wanted to charge me for two trucks not one . It was a huge mess and alot of not knowing . This site is woefully understaffed with people who really understand the rental business. Recently I dropped off my 5x8 trailer there and was asked if I would unhitch it myself and move it into position. I refused and said one of the employees needed to do it. When I went there a few days earlier to rent a dolly, it took them 45 minutes to figure out how to just rent that one piece of equipment. If they are going to be a U-Haul rental site, they need to be inserviced on the proper way to rent and receive trailers and equipment.DAMON B.
We spent two hours waiting for the reservation to go through because the 60 dollar deposit would not go away even though we were paying with a debit card. We went through the whole 'confirming your reservation proces' FOUR times. And when that didn't work they called headquarters to get it figured out. They clerk was put on hold for at least 15 minutes and then told to wait longer. Then they told us another u-haul representative was 10 minutes away. We waited at least 40 minutes till we decided to just pay the extra money in cash. I think this place should be closed until they bugs are worked out. And I think it would be fair if we got at least a 50 percent refund because so much of our time was wasted.Camila M.

The price went up from $40 something online to $59 in store. There were no cords or equipment to connect the trailer lights to the truck, they had none on site. So they said I should go buy the parts and they would refund me. So I spent another $35 at Auto Zone for the part and when I returned the trailer today they had NO idea how to do anything. The manager in the store couldn't have cared less. So it totally sucked as an experience. Don't have UHauls at markets if the people there have no idea how to do anything with UHaul.Paul H.
As per our odometer, we went 13 miles. We were charged for 6 gallons of gasoline at the rate of $4.00 a gallon. The sign of the station said gas was $2.29. We should have filled it up for a couple of dollars, but after moving all day we were exhausted. Attendant should have reminded us that we could save alot of money if we did. Also, we were charged almost 17.00 for a visa charge, whatever that is. This 19.99 truck cost over 70.00. Not cool!amanda F.

The worst experience and customer service I've ever had in my life!! Upon picking the truck up, the lady helping me was clearly on drugs!! Very unprofessional. The truck was all scratched up and they didn't have the (X) stickers to mark the scratches. They were just like"its ok. We know its there". And made me feel like I was being unreasonable by asking for a something in writing to say I didn't scratch it up!! If they had the little stickers it wouldn't have even been an issue. It took close to an hour and a half to get out of there... Then when returning the truck the evening person was so extremely rude and angry with apparently everything and everyone. He was rude to everyone!! He called his co-worker a dumb ass in front of customers and proceeded to put him down after filling out the wrong paperwork on my truck. So, again it took me well over a hour to return the truck.... This was the absolutely worst experience... After a long day of moving, it was too much.. I'LL NEVER again go to that store/gas station/U-Haul location. It was horrible and your corporate office should investigate what's goin on there. It gives U-Haul a bad name..Alexandra E.

As soon as I entered, both of the workers sent me away because they said their network was down, and they didn't know how to operate the system anyway. We then went to the next u-haul and they didn't have our truck. I called the dispatch station in Eugene that had called and scheduled my appointment at the Tangent location and she took care of me. The thing that really got me, was that when I returned, the Tangent location waited for me to fill out my contract via the telephone, then they went to turn on the computer that "wasn't working" and it worked. It took an extra hour and a half to get our u-haul just because the attendant didn't even try to turn on the computer when we first arrived. They were really nice, but they didn't help with an already stressful day.JESSICA M.
Overall, the attendants at Porter Fuel were great and tried to make the experience as positive as possible in light of the awkwardness of the transaction. I had made an online reservation and confirmation for the truck, however, when I arrived they had no record of my confirmation or account on the company computer. What I had hoped to be a proactive decision on my behalf ended up costing me nearly 90 minutes of waiting for the computer to boot-up followed by the eventual handing-over of the telephone to do the transaction over the phone. Not happy with the lack of technological infrastructure to streamline renting from UHaul. My likelihood of renting from UHaul again is small.JUSTIN C.
