It was a windy afternoon. Leaves were fluttering gracefully along the ground as the gusts pushed us in all directions. We set out north, northwest, the three of us, sitting in a row in the front of the 10ft truck. We shared coffee and stories, as most do on the roads in NS on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived 60-90minutes later. We loaded the truck with various items ranging from rugs, bedside tables, to a unique carving of a seagull that just lost his lunch to a more aggressive seagull. We visited family along the way and talked as much about the things we didn't take as the things we did and the stories that go with each item. You could say it was just a quick trip to grab a couple things but I say, thanks to UHaul, this was a trip of grabbing memories that we'll Cherish forever.

Couldn't offer furniture pads and dolly I rented was not in truck. The fact that gas tank is only half full makes it so difficult to bring it back half full, this is just the stupidest thing ever. And the bitch at the drop off location needs a lesson in customer service.

The U-Haul computer program was down and we had to wait for nearly half an hour before we could leave with the vehicle. Really inconvenient. Apparently computer issues are common. The people working to serve us were very sympathetic and helpful.

the customer service person was excellent. my pickup location was expensive due to the fact that I was being charged per km and my home was 20km away ... therefore i was charged for an extra 40km (which ended up being much more expensive than it had to be) I was also charged 29.99 for my rig and asked for a $19.99 vehicle

I booked my uhaul weeks in advance and was told that I had one reserved in New Glasgow. Fast forward to this weekend, I get a call saying I can't get one in New Glasgow, I have to drive 20 minutes to a neighboring town and get one. I was offered 49kms free, and told I could drop it off in new Glasgow instead of going back to the other town. This was an inconvenience but I was fine with it. I go to pick up the truck and the person working (from what I could tell it wasn't her fault, she said she never does uhaul services) had no idea how to get me my truck or which one was mine, made me talk on her phone during a pandemic to her boss, had her fingers in her mouth while she was waiting on me and was well within my personal space multiple times. No social distancing or sanitation what so ever. Once I got the truck I was barely home when I got an email telling me to drop it off at a location way out on the highway, 20 minutes in the other direction from New Glasgow. This wasn't what I was instructed to do on the phone, so I called the place and they also had no idea what was going on. Once the truck was returned (with the same amount of gas in it as when I got it originally, I know the rules) i was emailed a receipt for them charging my credit card for gas for the uhaul. When I had originally picked the truck up from the 1st location no one even checked what was in it. They didn't do the usual walk around or make me sign anything saying what the fuel level was. I'm so unimpressed.

I paid my rental online as I had to get a family member to pick up the keys. The location then charged me insurance which I did not request. I called the 1800 number and no one could change it. It ended up costing me an xtra $40.

This is a gas station. we were told that gas customers needs take priority, that uhaul company mandates this.our service was interrupted several times as gas clients interrupted our needs. It was clear that our business was not appreciated. on returning the truck, gas station manager was frustrated when trying to calculate kms used(my usage fee was given in kms). In his inadequacy, he attempted to project cause of frustration on me. also, when truck was picked up, staff on duty said she hates uhaul and didnt care where truck was retd....in the ocean would suit her. Pictou County can be rough around the edges. on a positive note, uhaul provides a great service as an unbelievably reasona le cost.We are grateful for this and will continue to access dispite ignorant service delivers.

Door wasn't secure, causing moisture to get into back. Floors, walls, and ceiling had a lot of condensation (could have been environmental conditions, or because door was ajar). Ramp was wet and muddy. Staff was helpful and professional. Location was very convenient.

The drop off location was closed when I arrived at about 8:30 pm (some type of situation has come up) but the location does NOT have a drop box!! Should be standard with this type of transaction.

Please see my reply to my statement e-mail. What is the environmental fee for? Also the question of the difference in allowable mileage.....46mi.( at pickup point ) as per 118km. initially quoted on my emailed order.

I started online, then spoke to some one at Regional Office in Halifax. In renting this truck I did not have a positive experience. The online allowed me to pay, but didn't tell me that there were no vehicles in the town I wanted to pick up in. I spoke to Reg. Office, they again took my credit card info and assured me my driver could pick up the vehicle in a town 45 minutes away with no problem. I then called the pick up location and he said he would need the credit card when the truck was picked up. I told him of my troubles and he took it over the phone. That's 3 times for the credit card. Now onto the drop off location. I had to tell that every step of the way and when I called the Drop off location thay had never heard of me. A lot of calls on my part, I lot of duplicating my information. No one at Uhaul was passing it along.

once i receive a confirmation, I have the understanding that my request is fine. never did i expect to have things change one day prior to pick up of the vehicle. also, multiple pick up locations is not convenient on moving day.

Person on duty was very friendly and helpful. The dolly was not there; however, I was reimbursed the money so I was a satisfied customer. Having to pick up the uhaul in Pictou from New Glasgow was VERY inconvenient. And was very suprised to find out the day before moving that I had to go all the way to Pictou to pick up the uhaul when there are TWO uhaul locations closer to home.

Get vehicles that do not use as much fuel. $140 for 268 miles is terrible fuel economy. Total price of $391 for the truck plus $140 for fuel is too high for 1 day.

I booked a truck to be picked up in new Glasgow - only to find out i had to drive all the way to Pictou. I get to pictou and told my truck was out of service and he didnt have anything else for me. I enquiered about a smaller truck and had to arrange to have it back earlier ... this was difficullt because I know had more trips to make with the move. I was still charged the same rate for the bigger truck ... he did do a deal in a Millage but still disnt cover the fact that I had to drive and extra 40 Km's in my own car to get the truck and drop it off... pluss and extra 40 Km's in the truck to pick up and drop off. not the sort of service I would expect from U- Haul. Ontop of that he said he was too busy to do my return of the truck and that I would have to wait for his wife to arrive... so I spent 20 mins waiting in the shop for his wife to arrive, with two small kids screaming in the car. Overall a stressful and terrible experience .... I pray I never need to use U-Haul again.

My first uhaul location took my order but didn't inform me that they are not open on Sat...I went to them as they were the closest to my home....needless to say I was upset...the contact in head office helped out by giving me a few extra miles and $50 off..to compensate for my troubles.....thank you...service at Abacrombie location was below standard...tv was on in office (loud)... not particually helpful . Pictou location much better even though agent was busy taking money for gas etc...over all experience with uhaul has been good....very useful service and not too expensive...thanks again

When i returned the truck i explained that i had never driven a truck before that day and the service station was busy i didnt want to attempt backing the vehicle up i was told i would have to wait for the owner to return after about 30 min i decided to do it myself and i put the gas in the vehicle went inside and was sent aside 3 times so the clerk could wait on other people then finally she waited on me and i passed her my visa for payment i assumed i was ok to leave. she never said a word to me when i left and as soon as i got home i got a call from rcmp saying i refused to pay for the gas i went back in to pay for the gas but i would not recommend their customer service to anyone. i was humiliated and angry and at no time did i refuse to pay for anything . \my suggestion would be customer service skills should be refreshed or maybe another place to rent your uhauls as you will lose business because of their ignorance and ability to get the information across to the customer

I took the trailer to the Pictou Irving for drop off this morning only to be told that he would not accept it. The personnel expressed their nasty opinion of u-haul and that trailers should not be sent to him because he does not accept them. This is not my problem and this location is where I was told to return the trailer to. I was directed to an automotive repair shop in Abercrombie. After arriving there I experienced this person's nasty opinion for the personnel at the Pictou Irving. Yes he takes trailers but the Pictou Irving should not be sending them to him. This is not my problem and all I wanted to do was drop off the trailer I had rented. This is my second trailer that I have rented from u-haul in the past 4 months. I received the same kind of unmaintained trailer and extremely poor service from personnel on both occasions. Glenn Clark 902-485-6637

I called the Pictou location on the morning of August 3rd to let them know I would be there at 5pm to pick up the trailer. I was told this was not a problem. When I arrived that evening they knew nothing about renting a trailer to me even though it was sitting in the yard. After 2 hours of waiting I was told to go figure out how to hook the trailer to my truck by myself. In doing this I find one of the trailer taillights is burnt out. When I asked the attendant about this, they shrugged their shoulders and turned their back on me. I took the trailer to my home to change the light myself, but only then do I realize the wheel lug nuts on all four wheels are loose and need to be torqued. I am absolutely appalled at the condition of the trailer and service. I was fortunate to talk to Chris at the Bible Hill/Taylor's depot who gladly gave me a new light. I don't know how a company as large as yours can rent a trailer to someone in the condition it was in when I picked it up. Does your company not realize that not everyone would pick up on these problems and be able to repair them on their own? What might have happened had I taken that trailer from Nova Scotia to Ontario without a brake light and loose wheels? Would you have been responsible for that? On May 20th at about 16.45hrs I contacted the location just prior to delivering the vehicle there, I was put on hold by the gas station sales clerk and was treated to her dealing with customers, while I believed she had gone to speak with the manager. On arrival at the Gas station I met the dour clerk and she enquired if I had spoken to the manager about dropping the vehicle off at that location. "No" The clerk gave me attitude as if I was asking some kind of favour from her that clearly went above and beyond her duty. When the manager came out, I again received this attitude of how dare I attempt to bring a vehicle here without consulting him personally. I was left with the impression that if there wasn't room, I wouldn't be able to leave the vehicle there. I had to prompt the manager to leave the store and come and verify the kilometres and fuel etc. It appeared as though the central reservation people had't contacted the manager at the drop off location. Frankly I was appalled by the stand-offish attitude from one of your outlets. The result I will not be buying gas / pop / milk or any other crap from the Irvine in Pictou. Nor I will recommend U haul to any person I know. To think that your outlet had to consider weather or not it was acceptable to leave your vehicle with them, well its bloody staggering wouldn't you say? I had rented the U-haul on line so I would be sure to get one.At the time I gave my credid card number and got confirmation of my rental.Two days before I was to pick up the rental I received a phone call from the pick-up location stating the time of pick up.They also wanted my credit card number again.When I went to pick up the truck the agent seemed surprised to see me there.He made a phone call to one of the u-haul people some where and guess what.They had no record of my reservation either.The person on the other end of the line wanted my credit card number again.When I talked to him trying to get some reason why there was no record of my reservation he stated that he was just the middle man and that he would give me a number to air my complaints.He never did.When I reserved the truck on line I thought that this was a good way of doing business,very professional.However the actual pick-up was very frustrating and very time comsumming.When I require any further trucking service I will definitely research all options before I try U-Haul services.
