Took over an hour to get truck on the road because the buttons to advance the pages wouldn't load on the website and the app kept telling me I hadn't set a password yet. When I would reset the password, the two step verification code wouldn't be accepted. This was a living hell and it will keep me from ever renting from UHaul again.
Jacqueline C.We received an unexpected charge after returning the u-haul. The manager was kind in calling us to inform of the charge, but the charge itself seemed unreasonable given that we were told we needed to pay for the condition of the outside of the vehicle. We drove during snow and the outside of the vehicle had snow soot on it. This wasn't a cleanliness issue that we could control, and paying $20 for it to be taken to the car wash feels unreasonable.
Claire M.The website was having issues (kept logging me out/couldn't link my order with my account) and I was on hold with the support line for 10 minutes. The check in process takes a while (need to have I think two of these passport/an employer answer the phone/a non family member answer the phone). I picked it up on New Year's Day at 9 am and no one was going to answer but I happened to have my passport in the car because of the move. I would get to the pickup location earlier than you think you should if you will be cutting it close with the drop off time.

I notated no equipment was available in the online pickup and when I checked out. I was still charged the fee for the furniture dolly even though I stated there was not one and called the haul customer service line at the time of pickup.

The mobile check-in and out is easy to follow and great for those of us that need to pick up and drop off a truck outside of business hours.

MICHAEL B.Didn't have the items I reserved (furniture pads and furniture dolly) and the equipment dolly they did have was unusable because the wheel was broken so it just took up space in the truck. Owner was unapologetic and assumed we didn't know how to do mobile check in when it wasn't working. Luckily there was one helpful employee there who took care of us.

My only concern is with big UHaul: either the requested truck size is not available at the selected site, or I have to go to an inconvenient location. This time the location changed AND the size I wanted was unavailable, and I had to make multiple trips with a cargo van.

The internet is also spotty there and made it difficult to get online. There is no clear directions as to how to pick it up using the way online. Terrible terrible pick up experience.

DOUGLAS W.Our follow up charges after The van with over estimated mileage were denied by our credit card since we temporarily lost it, and put a block on the card until we found the card.. I went into the rental Location to pay the balance, but the store had to go through a calling method that put them on hold, seemingly as if they were part of the general public, and not connected to your system. after waiting 15 minutes I decided to leave, hoping that I might be able to get back to the store to pay in person because I did not want to leave my credit card on a sticky note or give my car details over the phone. I would strongly recommend that your system provide a quick contact capability for your stores to reach the heart of your system to enable transactions that could easily take place for the customer, especially if they are waiting to pay. Otherwise, your system seems to work well, this particular store in Charlottesville Virginia is exemplary of great customer service with very personable and customer â€" oriented personnel who know how to run the system efficiently. This glitch that I have described above is apparently a system problem, and looks like it could be fixed with some good tech people. Thanks for the opportunity to give you my opinion. U-Haul definitely has a major advantage over the company I had used twice before in the last three years to move (Penske) in a least a couple of ways: u-Haul equipment was clean and fully operational while Penske has fallen way behind in that department recently. I had almost driven away with two trucks on separate occasions dead displayed check engine lights or made strange sounds when accelerating, only to hear that is “nothing to worry about “from the service person. Enough said/thank you

This location needs something done about it ! I am absolutely not kidding when I say I consistently have issues with this rental location.

EDNAMAE S.Renting a van was grueling from start to finish. Too many difficult/confusing points to list in full. A few here: 1) I wanted to pick the van up at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and return it no later than 1:30 p.m. Monday. I was repeated asked if I could pick it up and drop it off at noon those days, even after I said no. When I was sent the contract, it said pickup at 1:30 p.m., return at noon -- and specified 22 1/12 hours for the second day. When I called to ask why Diane Lee was being so insistent on noon, she said, "That's how it's in the system." In the end, it didn't matter as I finished earlier than expected and dropped the van off Sunday night. 2) When I reserved the van by phone, I asked if I had to reserve an appliance trolley as we had big pieces of furniture to move. I was assured no, there were plenty. But when I arrived, there were no appliance trolleys and just one smaller trolley. We rented it, but it was really too small. 3) When I first turned on the van engine, there was a blue warning saying low tire pressure. Above it was the yellow explanation point signifying low tire pressure. When I went back inside and told Diane Lee, she said not to worry, they had put air in the tires. The warning light stayed on the whole time I had the van. It obscured the mileage reading because it was in the dashboard spot where the mileage normally is displayed. 4) When I returned the van Sunday night, I couldn't follow the steps on the return link I'd been texted because there was no Wifi for my cell phone. So I just put the key in the dropbox. There was another slot for the contract, which I ignored because I'd never been asked to surrender my contract before when returning a rental vehicle. There were other frustrations, but these are enough. Thank you. James Rosen

Paul W.I explained to the manager that when I refilled the gas, I needed to fill it to one bar to the right of 3/4 full. I got it to 3/4 full and began adding one gallon at a time until the gauge would move one bar further. With each dollar added, the gauge didn't move at all, until the 6th dollar was added & then the gauge moved from 3/4 full to Full all at once. The manager didn't listen, was argumentative, saying I was being negative. I told her she was being negative by arguing with me and basically calling me a liar. She is Chinese I guess, and her command of English isn't very good. She did refund me in cash finally for 6 dollars of gas, and $20 for insurance that I never agreed to needing. My State Farm auto policy provides Collision and Comprehensive coverage when I rent a vehicle. The manager needs some courses in customer service, and people skills.

I wasn't sure how long this move was going to take and wanted to make sure I didn't go over the expected time so I booked it for 12 hours. The lady told us that the truck rental is really only supposed to be for a couple of hours. She just made us very uncomfortable. We have never experienced this at any other location

Sarah L.I think it would help if the U-Haul representative would take the customer out to the vehicle before finalizing the deal. At first, I rented a truck, but found it was difficult for me to climb up so high to get inside. I went back and requested a van which had a little shelf/step up....the U-Haul rep was able to get this change fairly quickly. She was extremely nice to me. I would definitely rent from her again, if the need arises.
