The location was a side business for a corner store. The gentleman was excellent but he did not have the number of moving blankets I required. I ordered the truck for 8 am but this location did not open until 10 am so I picked the truck up at 6 pm the night before and lost 14 hours of use tat I paid for.

While the U-Haul online reservation system leaves something to be desired, the staff at the Ottawa Halal Market were friendly and helped me get on my way quickly. I would choose them as my first choice location next time I need to rent a truck!

I reserved the uhaul online for 9 am. No one from U-Haul bothered to contact me to say that this pickup location doesn't open till 10. Caused me to waste time at the beginning of a busy day. The employees at the halal market were all very helpful. Unfortunately uhaul was not very helpful.

Provide locks for customer to pick up truck when they are closed. I had to pick up truck the night before because they had no locks desire uhsul telling me they had some. Also U-haul changed pickup location the day before to a much further place. The survey should be B.C. about uhsul's service. Not the locations

I liked the gentleman at this location. He was polite and very nice. I can't think of anything to improve. Uhaul made me pay in advance for a queen mattress cover, which was not available at this address, but that was not this gentleman's fault, it was your company's fault. My pick up was made for Stittsville and the van was available when I booked—then I got sent here instead.

I am currently waiting for a refund. I picked up the truck, drove it to my location only to find a padlock on the back. I called the location and the combinations he gave us to open the lock did not work. I did not have time to change trucks and complete what I needed to do so I had to return the truck without getting what I needed done. Waste of my time. The owner of the location was very pleasant to deal with and I have no issues with him. Unfortunate that the padlock was on the truck and my time constraints did not allow for a resolution other than a complete refund.

The only issue was the rather messy state the vehicle was left in. There was the contract (PRIVACY ISSUE) and other garbage from the previous renter. The garbage was consisting of used masks and gloves amongst other garbage that I cleaned out at my own risk. In this age of covid and considering I did the mobile rental to minimize risk, this seemed like a huge miss on uhauls part. I took pictures of the items but the app would only allow 1 to upload. Happy to provide more if necessary. I would like to hear back how you will regain my confidence that such an event will not happen again. -ALEX

I had ordered a box cart with my rental. When the store called the day before I asked about the cart and they said they did not have any because they are a smaller store. It was too late for me to get another cart anywhere. This was disappointing. This was not necessarily the fault of the store but the uhaul website should NOT let you rent any equipment that is not available at the pickup location. Hopefully I will get a credit back for the $10 rental.

There are 2 U-Haul locations within a 5 minute drive of my destination but the pick up location was unable to arrange the return there. The return location was a 25 minute drive away from my destination. It was near a large U-Haul storage location which was closer to the highway and made more sense to drop off there. The drop off locations closer to me should have been able to accept the return. The return location was inconvenient.

Access to the truck parking area was not obvious, one way in was littered with trash and broken glass. The app for after hours/ contactless pick up and drop off is not easy to negotiate. Booking details kept changing, (original booking was for Friday to Sunday) Variable pick up / drop off locations is confusing.

Service at the Halal Market was great. I was sent to this location because the location on Capital that u-haul originally changed my reservation to and I confirmed to them for was OUT OF BUSINESS when I arrived to pickup. Led to 1800gouhaul (operator was nice, but frustratingly useless - when I explained issue she initially said she didn't know what she could do about it...after putting me on hold several times finally transferred me to scheduling to find another location to pick up from) Gentleman at the Halal market was kind and helpful, however he said couldn't fill reservation for the furniture dollies and was unsure about handcarts (but did find 2) as they do not normally keep any and suggested I could stop at a third uhaul pickup to possible get them. By this point my move helpers were waiting and I was losing my designated elevator time so we took what was available.

Never send anyone to 2833 Dumaurier Drive in Ottawa. uHaul had guaranteed that my truck would be at the address for 8am on February 29th 2020. I got a call at 7pm the night before from a rude owner who forced me to come in and pick up the truck the night before (which made me put many more KM on the truck and ended up costing me more). He basically said if you don't come in tonight and get the truck it won't be there tomorrow (even though I got a guarentee email). When I arrived at the uHaul the Friday night the truck had about 2 feet of snow all over it and it took 20 minutes to brush off (so clearly it hadn't been used like the owner claimed). He also said that his location essentially refuses to do mobile pickup even though that's what uHaul had guarenteed for me. He was extremely rude and I'm tempted to never use uHaul ever again because of this experience.

The van was very convenient but I had a surprise. Like all rental places, and what I thought the retail outlet said, and what was expected of me, I was to bring the truck back fuel on gas. However I left with a quarter tank and a dirty van with soil that wasn't swept. To avoid charges, i cleaned myself and filled the gas to full which was 124 dollars at the gas station. The rent for the day was 106 so this doubled my cost. I only used a quarter of tank so I either paid for the previous person tank of gas or the next person. The salesperson told me that he had said only full the gas you use. I wasn't sure, I thought he said fill the tank. The bottom of it was it doubled my costs which was an ugly surprise before Christmas when money is always tight. As such I wish I had no rented the truck and would warn anyone who wants the convenience to check the van over thoroughly before leaving the location, and get things in writing especially the amount of gas in the tank, the starting Kms and the cleanliness of the cabin. The previous person should have been charged a clean up fee($25). I did it instead. It breaks down customer trust. I am not sure if I will use haul again for my moving needs.

The location was clean, and the gentleman who helped me was friendly and quite helpful. The Truck for the most part appeared clean, and in good repair; although for some reason the rear passenger side running light lens was left in the cab. As best as I can tell, the retaining clip for the lens was either broken or lost, and never replaced before I took possession of the vehicle. My general rental experience could use some improvement though. I reserved my truck about two months before the date of my move; at a different location that was much closer to where I was moving from. About two days before the move, I was sent the message that my pickup location had been moved to a location halfway across the city, and an hour later, which was the same time when my movers were also scheduled to arrive. I called the general U-Haul number, and was told that they couldn't help me, and that I'd have to call the local dispatch number (I'm in Ontario, Canada). Calling local dispatch, they told me that U-Haul was very busy, that I was assigned the closest pick-up location that had the equipment I wanted available, and to call the general U-Haul number, as THEY couldn't help me fix my problem. When I explained that the general line had directed me to them, the man on the line suggested that I wait until the pickup location was close to closing the night before the move, and then pick up the vehicle then. This was the solution that worked, but it meant that I needed to drive the vehicle to a different location that was even further away from where I was moving from, in order to park it overnight. In addition, the computer system that was supposed to take my information while I was picking the vehicle up was having multiple connection problems, requiring the U-Haul employee to enter everything in using an older manual method; he also told me that it had been installed recently, and that he had been having trouble with the equipment almost constantly. So, what can be done to improve the experience ? - Either honor a "first come, first served" assignment of equipment pick-up locations when a reservation is made, OR at least tell the renter much earlier (Ie a week or two earlier) that their pickup location has been changed, and offer some kind of "sorry" recompense to them (eg. a discount, or additional time or equipment for free, or a gift card for some fuel to offset the additional travelling required). - Make it a policy to dispatch employees to offer early equipment pick-up the previous evening, and waive the additional time added. - Test the sign-out equipment and communication lines to exhaustion before going "live" so that it is not as annoyingly unreliable as I experienced.

Store didn't open till 10. Reservation was for 9:30. Employee was wonderful however the truck was terrible. The truck shook .. transmission felt like it was going to explode. Was scary to drive and I am a confident driver.

I have reserved a truck for pick up in Ottawa and drop off in Montreal, with a $94/day package. When I picked up the truck, to my surprise the charge was too big and I finally found out instead of applying the $94/day package, I was set to be charged with the $19.95/day package. I pointed out with the agent and showed them my reservation. They called an U-Haul manager and I was advised to drive the truck and U-Haul will charge me based on my reservation so I agreed to pick up the key but did not drive the truck . Not long after that I received an SMS that tells me my drip off address is the same place as where the truck is picked up. Then I clicked on the link that was provided with my reservation confirmation, to my surprise my previous reservation is gone, I am shown a $19.95/day package and drop off address is the Ottawa address. I called U-Haul customer support and was advised she will transfer my call to schedule manager who I was never able to reach, I called again and was given a number that no one answers the call, finally I had to reach out to the agent who handed me the truck key for the person who advised him to take the key and deal with the rest with phone calls, after hearing my case, he said he would need to speak with his manager and I never heard from him. All subsequent call to follow up went to a voice mail. in the end I went to the agent where i picked up the key and see if he can speak with anyone to fix my problem, he told me that at this time no one is able to answer his call. I have returned they key, without moving the truck one inch.

This location did not have any trucks when I arrived at the designated time, and when I came back 3 hours later as instructed they still didn't have any. Finally got one but there was a huge line of people behind me who probably didn't get to move this weekend.

If you say the pick up location is one address keep that location if u change it let the customer know! If the customer wants one way than give him one way dont change it with out his knowledge!!

I received a text stating my UHaul was due back the 16th at 10am. I returned the UHaul on the 15th at 10pm but was charged an additional day plus the insurance with no explanation as to why. Additionally, at the time of pick up, I was not provided a receipt. Thus, I have nothing to cross-reference. Overall, terrible customer service.

The inside of the cab was filthy, old sticky coffee running everywhere, the inside of the windshield had stains all over it and discarded food crumbs on the top of the dash along with pul tabs. not pleasant at all.

The U-Haul agent left work 1hour and 10minutes before the stored closed. I had called 3 hours before to confirm everything was available for pick up. It took over 1.5 hours to complete the pick up. The truck wasn't swept inside and there was a exploded ice pack that had leaked all over the dash. They didn't inspect the truck when it was returned. Complete fucking bullshit!

Rent an any other Uhaul location if possible. My experience.....I reserved a furniture dolly, but when I arrived there was no furniture dolly available for me, but my credit card was charged for a furniture dolly. The worker said he would have me issued a credit for the dolly the next day,which was fine but this never happened. A few days later I still never received the credit, I called the Uhaul location to tell them I never received the credit. They said I would have to call Uhaul customer service, I told him the rep at the location said they would take care of the day after the rental and that this was an issue they caused, they should sort it out, not me. He said he was too busy to talk to me at the moment, asked me to call back later. A good customer service rep would have at least offered to call me back to fix the issued they caused. So I called Uhaul customer service, and had to wait on hold for about 15 minutes in order to talk to someone to get a refund for a product I reserved, but the location never provided. I will say the Uhaul phone customer service rep was excellent. All in all, don't bank on them having any product you reserve and plan to have your time wasted fixing any billing issues they cause. Also the check engine light was on when I picked up the truck.

Pros- I was given a 26ft truck for the price of a 15ft truck that I originally wanted. I changed my mind when I got there but they only had 26ft trucks. The guy was nice. Cons- there was no walk around done with me. When I got the truck home I discovered the bumper was half falling off, there was a large couch left in the back, garbage in the front, little gas, the door was hard to close and the ramp hard to pull out.
