You charged me $10 in gas for 5km of driving. I can only assume this is just a standard practice to jack up the bill on your customers. Won't be renting from there again.

We had a horrible experience trying to return the vehicle after Oscars was closed, using the mobile app. We parked in the suggested spot on P2, but there was very little cell service, so we had to run up and down 4 flights of stairs. We tried to use the uhaul.com/share site, but both my iPhone and my partner's Android phone got stuck on the "Share my location" step - it said that our location could not be received, despite the fact that we had our phone settings set so that locations could be shared. We couldn't leave without finding the passcode for the key, so we called UHaul and waited for 15 minutes before the call was dropped, and then had to start over and spend another 20 minutes on hold before someone could give us the passcode. Basically we spent an hour sitting on a parkade floor waiting for someone to assist us. It was awful. This is not a good place for ending a trip after hours. And the uhaul.com/share website needs to have recourse to get around the shared location step. We do not plan to use UHaul in the future.

Just a little bit of a language barrier at this location. Took awhile to fill information out on. iPad.. Very nice people though and we eventually accomplished the task. Easy to pick up the uhaul in parking lot a few steps away..

There are some negative reviews of this location: disregard these reviews entirely. We rented a 9' van, pickup was quick and painless. The van itself was spotless and had recently been cleaned. The shopkeeper who gave us the key was extremely helpful and nice. We had absolutely no issues with this location and would not hesitate to use it again.

I don't know if you understand what I experienced on Friday. My family and I like U-haul very much, but at the same time I think customer service is also very important for a company. The clerk at that convenience store is an old Korean woman. I promise I really don't understand what she's talking about. I told her that I really didn't understand. She replied contemptuously, "This is not my problem." , It's your problem.” At that time, I didn't want to continue communicating with her, so I asked her how much would it cost to cancel the appointment? It took her a long time to call her manager, and she canceled for me without asking me whether to cancel, and then told me that a fee of $50 would be charged. I said I didn't want to cancel. I just want to figure out how much it costs to cancel. If it's too expensive, then I won't cancel, right? Then I asked her not to cancel, and she became angrily. During this process, several customers came and went in the convenience store. She just asked me to wait and serve others first. You know, at that time, it was already beyond my expected pick-up time, so I was in a hurry, and she should follow the first-come-first-served order, right? But she told me that this is my shop and I have the right to decide to serve my customers first. I think it is unfair. She decided to cooperate with your company, so she should serve your customers well instead of wasting your customers' time. I think our communication is very unpleasant. I understand very well that all the terms and precautions are stated in your contract, but as the front desk of a location, shouldn't she emphasize certain precautions (such as filling up the gas and returning the car)? I really don't think she didn't know this, but she deliberately didn't say it, which caused me to make a mistake. There is also the issue of taking pictures when returning the car. She only said that she wanted the photo corresponding to the fuel tank on the dashboard, and because I couldn't communicate with her, I always thought that you would charge for how much gasoline I used but not a fine, so I did not refill the gasoline, otherwise how could I do so even knowing that there will be a fine?

I was told to retrieve the tank full, however it was not full when I got it. I drove for 40 km and paid for $40 dollars to refill the tank for full level. I obviously did not spend $40 dollars on gas. Nevertheless, very nice pick up location and spacious and clean van.

My pickup at the shop took too long. Even though I had completed the online check in, the clerk went through the entire thing on the tablet, making me wait ~10 mins, before the clerk essentially handed me the key and told me how to get the van. In this process I was interrupted twice, by customers wanting to make a purchase. Maybe the tablet UI needs to be revised to make it easier for busy clerks to run through. Also the van was pretty clean overall, but there was a seemingly discarded McDonalds bag under the driver seat and some other trash in the cab.

The Oscar's Smoke Shop attendant barely could speak any English and was not able to give me the instructions as needed. To return the truck, I left the car in the parking lot on the spot that I found when the first time I took. She called me today at 7 am asking where was the car if I would not bring it she would call the cops. I said the car was there, exactly in the spot that I found, she said that I was calling her a lier. She finally decided to go check the parking lot again and found the car. Moreover, I tried to return the truck using the app but I could not as when I tried to upload the picture from the mileage and fuel the continue button was off, and as consequence, I did not have access to the passcode of the mirror box to return the keys. I had to wait over 40 minutes on the phone to talk to someone from your customer service that could help me.

I tried to do my pick up online, but ended up being on hold for 20 minutes with Uhaul and then go hung up on. When I went into the location they were rude because I was supposed to be doing it online. The van was filthy inside and out. Could barely see out of the Windows. Overall a very bad experience. Would definitely think twice about renting from Uhaul again.

The van was dirty and there were dead bed bugs in the bottom of the back of the van... it stunk like urine and the person working at the location where we picked up the vehicle had a very hard time communicating with me and signing out the vehicle. They made me redo all of the paperwork when everything had already been done online - reserved and I had selected express checkout so it should have been a relatively quick process at 7:30 am when it's not busy- instead it took almost 45 minutes before we got to leave with the van only to find it stunk and was covered in bugs. I am very disappointed in you hall!!! I thought your company had higher standards and I will not be using your services again so the price was great I would've been happy to spend more money for better quality!!! can guarantee that next time I need to rent a vehicle to move my belongings I WILL NOT be dealing with U-Haul , I will be using a different provider

It was really hard to find where the vehicle was parked and the person in the store was not helpful. After looking in the parkade for 30 mins, we were able to locate the van after talking to the security guard. I wouldn't recommend this location.

The Parking isn't easy to drive inside. The pipes are really low sometimes it touches the roof of the cargo van. You need to be careful. I would avoid this location at 951 Hornby St. The only good thing about this one is that it opens at 7am.

Simply put, do not go here! The check in process is unnecessarily long as the employee will stop checking you in as soon as another customer walks into the store. The van smelled awful and had previous damage (broken drivers blind spot mirror and rear lock is punched out). Their van is also located 2 floors underground so if you are doing self check-in/check-out on the app, be prepared to wait! If you are searching for a U-Haul downtown, save yourself the time and hassle and go to the Davie Street Market (have done 4 past rentals through them and never had any issues).

For online pickup the parking lot P2 had really bad reception, it took 30 minutes to pick up, 40 minutes to drop off because the website kept erroring out. The driver side lower mirror had a crack and the rear cargo door lock was broken and couldn't be opened with a key. Otherwise the vehicle was good and having online pickup was a life saver over the holidays.

I had done express check in, but when I went to get the keys I had to do the check in all over again... this was confusing and I think I ended up paying more than the options I had originally chosen.

When I did the online approximation with then km and all the fees the website said it should come out to about $50 but when I got in it ended up being $115. A little more clarity on the website would've been helpful

Van was dirty (a half smoked joint was in the passenger door pocket). Oil service light was on entire time and I was told “not to worry about it). As it is not an actual rental location I was provided with additional instructions that were not clear. Finally, the 19.95 plus mileage and fees advertised turned into 89.00 plus mileage and fees when I received the bill.

Firs the uhaul van wasn't parked at the correct spot in the parking underground, was suppose to be on the left hand side of the parking but it was somewhere to the right. Took 10 mins to find and the right side had a lower ceiling so, it ever so slightly lnowed the roof on the hanging beam. Then when returning the van the underground parking had no reception, so i couldn't take pictures to self checkout. Went upstairs to use the app but I couldn't upload images from my library as you could only take pictures at that moment. Spent 40 mins on hold finnaly to email eveything to checkout. Very unpleasant experience, especially after a long night of moving. Customer support was friendly enough though. Thanks to Danae Howard. If the wait time wasn't so long this would have been acceptable.

Parked two floors down in a basement under a huge building. When trying to fill out app details keeps freezing. Took me an hour to unlock the van. Wasted valuable time

I had very bad experience with u haul today. The woman in oscar smoke shop can not clearly speak english and cannot explain the rules of the service. Parking of uhaul van was very confusing. It took me 20 minutes to get out of parking. And at the end I had to wait a lot for entering the parking as there was a construction and road was closed. As a result I was late for 30 minutes. I spoke and explained the situation to u haul manager through phone but they did not accepted my reasons and I had to pay penalty fee for 50 cad although it was not my fault. Kindly ask you to credit me back the penalty payment and improve service in that location. Thanks, Hamid 778 238 81 49

The experience started out ok the lady at the shop seemed sweet and nice however, there was a language barrier. There was no pre inspection done for the truck itself. We were just give the keys. When we got to the u haul we saw that the right side mirror was damaged we assumed this was already addressed and this uhaul was just damaged. We did our trip returned the uhaul as we got it. Later that evening we got a call from the lady asking about the damage, and we advised her that it was already there. She said OK and hung up. Later in our contract we see a charge for the damage for $150 when we barely used the u haul and did not do any damage whatsoever. When contacted the lady back she just said contact u haul. So we did and now are waiting on upper management. Which we are hoping will resolve the issue. Overall unfortunate experience. and shady location avoid at all costs.

This location is not great to act as a U-Haul dealer. The U-Haul vans are parked underground in the hotel parking lot, which was extremely small for the size of the vans/trucks. It's almost impossible for anyone to park such a large vehicle down there. Additionally, there is a strong language barrier between the shop owner and customer. It was a big struggle to communicate and get things done efficiently due to this. A translator or something should be considered when working with U-Haul customers vs. just buying something at the convenience store.

I was delayed 30 minutes before I could pick up the can due to poor communication from the employee. Very little English and struggled to communicate with customers. She has to call a translator.

No complaints about service, but to park a u-haul van in a passenger car parkade is ridiculous. The turn radius of the van verses the available space is way too tight to comfortably navigate the parkade, let alone park the vehicle. I would not rent from this location again for that reason alone.

my order location was changed without even asking me what would work better for me. a little more heads up and communication with what suits your customers better would be nice. Also you moved my pickup and drop off location after i had something "reserved" making me pay more in kilometres and gas, with no compensasion and little regard to how it effected my plans.
