The UHaul app checkout process is infuriatingly bad unless you fill everything out perfectly. The "process" is a terribly coded workflow that involves you taking pictures of your ID and yourself so an agent somewhere can approve you. The "agents," or more likely underpaid sweatshop workers with cell phones, follow a script exactly and if you fill anything out incorrectly simply deny your request, tell you to go inside to find a human agent, and end your checkout session. What is difficult to communicate in words is the sense of absolute helplessness this engenders. The *only* reason to use this app is if the location is closed. If the "agents" actually tried to help you it might not be so bad, but the fact is that they just tell you, "No, go away," leaving you with no idea what you did wrong and no choice but to blindly try again. It took us over an hour and 3 separate calls to UHaul support to get our truck. I will never use this app again. If I need to pickup/dropoff after-hours again, I'm just going to use a different company.

Rented a truck from the Norwood Rd location that I requested online. It was easy, quick and truck details were explained by rep Jim Roberts (I think). I would definitely recommend this U-Haul rental location.

Great place but there was no signage indicating it was a U-Haul vendor. I drove by the drop off because I did not see anything but the lawn and garden shop. You turn into a gardening shop hoping they do have U-Hauls. A U-Haul sign on the main roadway would be so helpful!

Used GPS to find location. Signage faces (parallel to) the flow of traffic so hard to see, but that may be due to neighborhood advertising requirements.

Improve the software used to make the reservations. It should retain more information. I rent trailers often and have to provide the same info all the time. Often the software doesn't communicate with the customer entry pad so the credit card has to be entered manually. The process shouldn't take more than five minutes. You're wasting the vendor's time and my time.

The only complaint I have is being charged for an extra day. They were closed when I arrived. My request would be to get my money back for the one day because of the difficulty I had with the relocation of my pick up

Always a pleasure working with the folks at Norwood! I have rented trucks about 5-6 times, and they are so friendly and helpful. I will continue to use them in the future and recommend to anyone looking to find a moving van/truck.

When I got there to pick up the trailer the computer system was down. The person I was working with had no idea what she was doing. (in fairness, the "normal" guy was on vacation, and she was backup). It took calling a district manager and over an hour on the phone to get the paperwork resolved. Then, the trailer lights weren't working. It took another 30 minutes to figure out that one cable was bad, and scavenge a working cable from another trailer. I will not be going back to this location in the future.

It's not clear which building is the office where UHauls rentals take place, which leads to awkwardly standing outside wondering which direction to walk (since it's a pretty big place). This place does not have overnight or mobile dropoffs, which led to me parking the truck outside their locked gate overnight when I returned it. I drove 40 minutes back in the morning to hand them the keys, but before I got there I received angry texts and phone calls saying the UHaul was blocking people's entry to the property (even though the business wasn't open yet and normal sized cars and trucks could drive past no problem). I couldn't have left the keys in the vehicle because that would risk it being stolen (since I was responsible for it), and I couldn't leave the keys in a dropbox because there wasn't one! I wish they had mobile dropoff or at least let people know online before they rented (and then I would have gone anywhere else to get a truck!). I couldn't take off work last minute just to drop off a UHaul, and I couldn't find another person to do the awkward car drop-off/pick-up shuffle between Raleigh and my house 40 minutes away, so I had no option but to be an hour late to work. After the guy was done yelling at me over the phone, he turned out to be surprisingly nice in person, almost like he hadn't remembered yelling at me 40 minutes before. I advise them fixing their mobile dropoff and finding a better system than letting people sit the UHauls outside their gated property where the vehicles are at risk of getting hit by oncoming cars or stolen. (Not to mention the added stress all of this caused between packing, moving, my job, and getting yelled at for something that was their own fault). I no longer live in this area, but even if I did I would not rent from this place again.

Again, the U-HAUL staff at 800 number were inconsistent providing information—said they needed special authorization to change my return-site. I could not get a strong enough signal at drop location to make anything happen via the app, and the app wouldn’t identify this drop location. Infuriating and unnecessarily time-consuming. Owner finally emergeged and took care of everything—U-Haul is lucky for knowledgeable neighborhood dealers.

The dealer did not have the appropriate wiring connection for the car hauler I rented to connect the lights, brakes and turn signals. I had to go to Home Depot to buy one!!! That was not acceptable.

Worst experience ever.... I do not recommend. I was accused of stealing a dolly from the back of the truck which was NEVER there. A Dolly cost extra and I did not order one but the rude man insist it was one back there “just Incase” I needed one. Had they opened the back of the truck to check before I drove off they would of noticed that I never had one. I have never felt so insulted in my life.

The transmission of the truck would not shift into overdrive (yes, I disabled the haul/tow function). 3000 rpms doing 65 mph is not fuel efficient.

The front tires were dangerously, unevenly worn. It looked like there was wire coming through the bald edge of the driver's side tire. The windshield wipers need to be replaced since they made a mess whenever it would rain.

Unfortunately, the road on my new house isn't paved yet and it rained very hard about an hour before I arrived at the new place. I got the truck stuck and had to call AAA to get it out and I paid for that as AAA doesn't support UHaul trucks, I was a bit surprised to get a $50 dollar charge on my credit card to wash it; especially, after I bought the insurance. My wife had an interesting comment that in this case, it would have been better to crash it than get mud on it. It will certainly make me look elsewhere for any future needs; as well as, tell anyone who needs a truck of my experience. Otherwise, thank you for listening and have a great evening.

I ordered everything online. Paid for it. When I arrived, not only was I forced to stand-there and wait as the only customer in the store for my pick-up for 20 minutes while the service owner idly chatted with a woman, I was forced to RE-PAY for everything, despite me insisting that I had already paid for the service. Now, as expected, my credit card is double booked and I'll be forced to file a dispute with the credit card company (thanks for the extra work). There were other mishaps too, but this is the most important one in my opinion.

Everything was amazing and above standard until I returned the truck. I drove the truck 13 total miles. Filled it with gas, and was still charged over $66 in fuel fees! Very confusing and was not offered an explanation or refund.
