The truck had been reported stolen and had not been cleaned before it was rented to me.

Got done loading in a Saturday night 2/19/22, tired AF and attempted to use the website return function; kept getting “this service is unavailableâ€; tried to access website from 8pm-midnight without success; had to get up next AM and get it to work. Website needs to be available 24/7 as advertised; double for weekends

David N.I was very disappointed to be lied to by U-Haul representatives. On Saturday, 27Nov, I was sent an email by U-Haul guaranteeing my pick up on Monday, 29Nov at 0700hrs for my 20ft truck rental. On 29Nov, just 30mins prior to my official pick up, I was sent a text message saying my rental was delayed and was changed to 0930hrs due to unclear reasons or justification by the U-Haul company. I was already driving to the rental location when text message was sent - very poor management by U-Haul. Please note, I made my reservation about 1.5 months in advance. When I called the customer service line about this issue, I was informed that I had received a phone call and email informing me of the change 1day before - neither was true as I didn't receive any phone calls or emails by anyone from U-Haul. However, it was insisted that I received both a call (which apparently U-Haul could not reach me) and an email was delivered. My call log and inboxes did not reflect this, however the customers word (my word) was insufficient or credible. I spoke with another agent after escalating the issue, and I was told by a different U-Haul representative that due to the Thanksgiving holiday and prior renter returning the vehicle during after hours, the pick up location could not prepare the vehicle in time for a 24/7 truck share, the new agent also clarified that an email or phone call was never made to inform me of this. The delay in getting the truck resulted in us having to pack through the night, required for us to stop and stay the night at a hotel, and incurred inconveniences and cost. U-Haul gave me a very small credit of $50.00. U-Haul representatives appeared clueless on the issue, significantly increased the level of stress during an already stressful time during a relocation, and was inconsiderate of the delay and impact this caused to my trip. I will not recommend U-Haul to anyone and will never rent from U-Haul again. I will be soliciting Penske and other competitors on any other future rentals.
