Bad customer service, besides they charged me wrongly and haven't replied me back yet. I believed the guy took advantage of me being a woman alone picking up a van. Horrible service.

This is a very busy drop off site and the parking area would benefit from better markings rather than just a Google map photocopy stuck on the window showing the U-haul area.

I made my reservation for pick up at 7:30am with the pick up box but unfortunately the have no pick up box so I have to wait the opening hour at 8:00 am but they arrive only at 8:17 am

I mad a reservation online 1 month in advance for a van and equipment. When I arrived to pick up the van I was told the equipment wasn't available. They were supposed to notify me a day in advance but did not. The images of the van were also standard and didn't show the damage in the vehicle I was given. Customer service wasn't good either. I went to another location to see if they had the equipment but they didn't so I ended up having to buy my own dolly to move. Frustrating and expensive.

If it were not for the fact there were several large uhaul trucks already in the parking lot, I would not have even been able to find the drop off point. as it was, I spent about 5-10 minutes trying to locate the drop off box which was located on the side of a building listed as 219. there were no signs anywhere listing "movers choice" The mechanic/garage also had a rotting tow truck in the front parking lot. I would not recommend this site. I almost called to request a different drop off site from the 211 Gerrard st parking lot.

I had a confirmed booking or a refund of $50 will be given to me. When I arrived to collect my bookings I was told my two furniture dollies were unavailable and I was left without any dollies to do my move. All they gave me was a box dolly. I am truly dissatisfied with u-hual's service and customer service. My move was a total disaster. I will want my promise of a refund fulfilled.

It was the 2nd time I used this location in a week. The first time they didn't have the blankets I needed and tried to give me dirty ones off the floor. On Oct 2nd they were missing blankets and trolleys. The passenger door was missing the lock.

The drop off location was quite tight, i was just able to fit into front area. The neigbour complained that trucks consistently hit her fence when trying to enter through back entrance.

extremely rude customer service, very unclean and unorganized place. did not have the add ons requested in original reservation. was not given any help or additional info for other places to get the add ons. was over charged money without authorization. should have got stuff for free after the experience had, very terrible.

Not enough parking for all vehicles, therefore the rental van we originally booked was towed the night before. The address is incorrect and the building is not clearly labeled (only indication it is a uhaul location is the trucks in the lot).

I ordered a furniture dolly And a regular dolly with the truck and there was no furniture dolly available. Also, there was no regular dolly there either but fortunately the attendant found one in another truck. Would good if you could provide the equipment that was ordered!

This location did not follow COVID precautions at all. The guy behind the counter wasn't even wearing a mask (illegal here) and the truck hadn't been sanitized. Additionally, he tried to give me a smaller vehicle than I rented, even though the one I wanted was available, because he didn't feel like pulling it around. He pulled it out and asked me to drive it around front to get the dolly...... and he had me going to wrong way on a one-way street. The truck I got had a janky parking brake release (you had to pull in one specific place) and he didn't warn me. I know all downtown u-haul locations suck, but this one sucks more than most.

My order which had been placed weeks ahead of the move date wasn't complete. No utility dolly came with the truck even though it was ordered. Staff was very rude, and wasn't wearing or enforcing city, and provincial wide indoor mask policy. What the hell U-Haul...

Entirely self-serve. Which is okay I get if there is some kind of logic to what's going on. My big issue is that I don't have data on my phone. So I went to use the UHaul share thing and couldn't. So then my keys were put in the box. When I had gotten home and gone on the UHaul share thing I THEN realized that I was supposed to validate my mileage and fuel and dolly. Just a bit scary on my end. Also the app isn't really well put together, but that's a bit different.

Vehicle had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, did not appear to have ever been disinfected or wiped down. Come on guys - at least show a little effort for Covid precautions. After collecting the vehicle and talking to U-Haul customer support in relation to my storage facility, I was informed about a dispatch issue that took over an hour on the phone to resolve. Customer support did not even recognize the vehicle, the code provided on the lock and accused me of being at fault. I don't know if this was on this specific location or really poor U-Haul processes. In future, I would spend more money and rent from Budget Truck instead.

There was no employee at the location when I arrived at my scheduled time to pick up keys in person at the desk. The door was locked, there was no sign, nobody answering the phone (this was during regular business hours). I had called a dozen times the day before to confirm my booking and nobody ever answered the phone then either. I called the U-Haul head office who confirmed that the location was, in fact open, they probably just couldn't make it to the phone. After 30 minutes of panicking outside the closed shop on the morning of my booking, the employee had the courtesy to call me and tell me he was running late and would be there in 20 minutes. No apology of any kind was offered. When he arrived he then proceeded to first help the other people who were there much later than me who were trying to figure out how to complete their mobile check out. This lapse of service caused me to miss several appointments and miss an additional hour of work that day. I can't believe I sill had to pay full price for such a terrible experience.

The staff person was polite and handled the pick up well. However, as I was driving it, I kept trying to use the windshield wipers to clean a splatter off the windshield, I soon realized that the splatter was on the inside and I couldn't do anything about it while driving and with no glass cleaner or paper towels of any kind. The other problem, which I believe is systemic within your company, is that only the night before the pickup I received confirmation of a change of pick up location (which was fine), and that the truck, appliance dolly and furniture blankets I had ordered were ready and waiting for me. I was relieved because I know the small print says dollies and blankets may not be available. When I got there, there was no dolly and no blankets. I could potentially do the move without blankets, but not the dolly. I was panicked because the hired-by-the-hour movers would be waiting for me and I had no time, and little money, to find and buy a dolly. I was in such momentary despair (not helped by the fact that the reason I was there because my step-mother had just died and that's why I was in Toronto) that I just about cried. I went to the truck, discovered a Toronto parking ticket under the wiper and returned it to the office. At that point the staff person said he'd found a utility dolly which he provided for me. I was grateful, but that begs the question why it wasn't offered before. The staff person, who I believe owned that franchise, suggested that a dolly should ‘live' in every truck. If it goes missing, then charge the most recent truck renter. I think Uhaul should consider that suggestion seriously.

Online / no contact pick up was a hassle. It took time to do despite coming 30 mins early. Instructions not clear. Was expecting someone to assist. No one was on site. Truck parked terribly. Very tight spot only a few inches to work with. Truck renters have difficult time maneuvering just to get out the lot. Ps I have a wrist injury and was expecting the process to be smooth instead I have to physically do everything.

The website does not mention that this location has reduced hours and that it is mostly self serve. There were several customers at the location before 5 pm confused as to how to proceed with picking up vehicles, returning them and picking up supplies they ordered. There was no answer at the phone number listed on the door. These are special times and require special measures.

Ordered a 20 foot truck a month and a half before I needed it. I showed up to the pick-up only for them to tell me that they didn't have any 20 foot trucks. No one communicated this to me prior to me showing up at the location. After an hour and a half the clerk says they couldn't even give me a 15 foot truck to compensate. I had to call head office and basically they forced the clerk to give me a 15 foot truck which was already rented by someone for later in the day. The time wasted caused the whole moving Day to be delayed, and on top of that I needed multiple trips to accomplish what I needed because I didn't have the larger truck I initially ordered. The employee at this location was clueless and was no help at all. There is no way I'm ever using U-Haul again for a truck rental for a move.

It would have been nice to know that there is no parking on the premises. In addition, the address is NOT 211, it is 219. I had to leave my car on the street and then have someone drive me in the middle of a move back downtown in order to get my car and drive it home. This also meant I had to take an Uber home after dropping off the cargo van. The staff was not wearing masks either time I was in there.

When I went to return the uhaul there were NO reasonable parking spots left. The parking lot was completely packed and we were supposed to have a guaranteed spot. The reason this review has taken me so long to do is because I was too emotionally exhausted from the experience to call. Upon arriving at uhaul there was also a parking enforcement officer ticketing uhauls, who got mad at me for just hovering in the alley trying to figure out where to park. She was incredibly rude and told us to keep moving immediately. I had to go around in circles trying to find a spot. There was no street parking available either. My friend and I were like sitting ducks with the massive uhaul. We called uhaul asking what to do and they said if we could park it at our home we wouldn't have to pay overnight fees. I live in an apartment downtown with no parking anywhere close to my house. He then said if we parked it on the street we would get a ticket. It is not my responsibility to find street parking for this vehicle but I looked for a while anyway. Then, I attempted an absolutely ridiculous park job that took almost 45 minutes because the uhaul is large and old and doesn't just back up gracefully. You can check the security footage. Half way through this park job I had a suspicious man come up to me and ask "what I was doing there" "was the place open", he bet that "trucks go missing all the time" and asked me if "I would give him the keys to the car". I was terrified. Uhaul gave me a 15$ voucher but I will never rent a uhaul again. This isn't even the full story. I would like to use the 15$ to be reimbursed for some of the money I spent and will be calling in tomorrow.

The return process was confusing. Google said the location closed at 5pm and I turned up around 4.05pm to find the office closed. Can you update the google close time if you close earlier? Also, I tried to follow the return process where you login to the website. But the website could not find my location so I could not complete the full process. Apart from this I had a great experience and it was seamless. Thanks

Clean the trucks before handing them over. Also if you charge ahead of time for additional equipment, you should be sure that they will be available at the location. Less than poor service. I will not be returning.

One of the worst experience ever. I got a call just two hours before the pick up to change my time. I said I cannot as I have already booked elevators and planned everything accordingly. The person said ok you can come collect it. When I reached there to pick my truck, with a straight face the person told me that the truck is not available. When I insisted that I need the truck and they should resolve the issue the guy kept going in the back room to call the manager and would not make me talk to the manager directly. Their only response was that call the 1 800 number and the head office will find you another truck and that they could not do anything now as they don't have any trucks available at the location now. My friend dialled the 1 800 number as well while I tried to convince him to sort it out. After a while the manager came to the shop, he maintained the same stance that they can't do anything. During all this time a lady walked in and drove away with the same dimension truck I had booked and the truck magically appeared at the location. On the 1800 number we were on hold for more than an hour each time we would get connected to an agent and tell the entire story they would put us on hold again and the call would start again even though after the second hold I insisted to not be put on hold. I was finally given a truck after more than 1.5hrs and driving around aimlessly in the neighborhood to find and alternative as I had movers waiting at my home. Worst experience and customer service ever. The worst part is how they just refused to let you help and treat you like shit. This is all after I have pre-booked weeks in advance!

The truck was not clean at all. Garbage was left from the previous personal. Glove on the floor, used napkins in the side door, slop in the cup holders, and overall dusty and dirty. Obviously COVID-19 procedures aren't in place and I wouldn't recommend a business that doesn't follow public health advice and care about the health and safety of their customers.

We are still in the middle of pandemic with municipal and province wide bylaws, no? What kind of operation you guys running?

The agent was unable to find my reservation until after I called into reservations. Then they did not apply my credit voucher when I picked up the truck and then said it would happen automatically after I returned which caused me to call into customer service once a gain and get it straightened out. This all happened after reservations changed my booking twice! Absolutely a nightmare of events.

Overall the experience was good. The truck was in good conditions and ready on time. However, when I got the confirmation it said that I needed to got a different location (Queen St E) as a first step, that was not the case as the truck was ready at Gerard St E. Other than that ambiguity, U-haul less expensive than other rental services. Thanks!

The service was abysmal. No trolleys and no pads were available. The truck was in horrible condition (the dashboard was a mess) and it was parked in a difficult place. The guy was very rude and did not explain anything. Overall, a negative experience.
