My contract showed the departure mileage as 12 miles over what was actually displayed on the odometer in the rental truck. Unless I verified this before departing, and returning to the office for adjustment, I would have been charged for 12 extra miles. When the charge is $0.69 per kilometer, I would have paid well over $10.00 more than what I actually drove.

Overall the service was great. Except a few things that I would have liked to know/be briefed on when I picked up the truck.This might not be a common Uhaul practice, but here are my suggestions : 1. Have the Uhaul representative let me know that there is a 20$ charge if i drop off after service hours. I looked at the contract agreement but I missed where it was written that there is a 20$ charge for after hours service. It is also not very apparent on the website either. 2. Have the Uhaul representative let me know that there is a procedure to follow when I return the truck after hours. I didn't know that there were so many steps when returning the truck. I only saw the email after I got home at the end of the day so we just parked the truck, dropped the keys and left. At the day of a moving day, alot of people are tired and just want to get everything done ASAP. 3. The email that tells me to log in to return my truck - would have been good to have a written procedure (instead of a video on the website) included in that email. 4. The return procedures can also be included in previous emails that were sent to me - for example when I rented the truck online for the first time, a small procedure could have let me know what to expect when I return/pick up the truck. Overall i would rent from Uhaul again and would definitely recommend to a friend.

I had a first rate experience dealing with the Milano Collision location. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff had me in the perfect vehicle for the task at hand and on the road in hardly anytime. They were happy to answer all the questions I had both specific to the vehicle or common to trucking. The staff is exceptional.

Dealing with U-Haul as a company was horrible. I made a reservation for pick up for 7pm. Drove to the location and it closed at 5 pm. How does a company confirm a reservation for somewhere that is not opened. When I called the agent was useless. She said my reservation was converted to a counter pick up. She asked if i was going to do the pick up for 8 am the next morning, I said I had no choice. I didn’t get to the location til 2 due to other commitments and tight deadlines I had. Only to discover my reservation was cancelled. The gentleman at the counter was extremely helpful and apologized. He made a call to get it back on. I said that we wouldn’t make the 7 pm return time due to the late pick up. He said no problem just drop off the truck. I told home it would be no later than 9 pm. When I got into the truck and drove off a confirmation came in stating the return time was 7 pm. Moving is an extremely stressful time for anyone but as a single mom. The company made the experience much more stressful than necessary. Communication is key and there was none. Pamela

I was charged an after hours $20 fee (how is 2pm on a Saturday after hours when I was told they were open until 5pm??) and another $12.05 for fuel even though I put the exact amount of fuel back in the truck before returning it?! Not sure why I’m being nickel and dimed but this is ridiculous and I certainly hope U-Haul rectifies this.

Using the mobile pickup is supposed to be faster but when trying to load the headshot image and drivers license there was lots of problems. I arrived at 950am for a 10am pickup and didn’t get the car until 1045am

The cargo van was clean but there was an odd smell of cow dung/manure. I explained this to the office and I don’t he fully understood. He was great to deal with and was very friendly. Anyhow that’s what it smelt like the while time and I didn’t have much of a choice.

When we arrived, we were told our 20' truck hadn't been returned yet although there was another on the lot. Staff were not helpful and very disorganized.

Reserved a 17’ truck with an appliance dolly but was given a 15’ truck with no dolly. I requested the employee do a walk through of the truck when picking up which was declined and assured all items (dolly) were in. I got to my job site to find no dolly which means no work. When I phoned the pick up location Milano Collision Centre, I was told they have no appliance dolly in stock and was given attitude via phone. If I knew there was no appliance dolly, I would have never rented the truck as we were only moving large appliances! Picked up location refuses to refund

I reserved a 17’ truck and was provided 15. Location would not make the change even though the contract says otherwise. Truck interior was dirty and left with garbage.

Terrible customer service. Make sure you don't drop after hours if you don't want to get all those extra charges. They will charge your credit with no notice.

Where to start? The booking for the uhaul was painfully complicated/confusing. Spoke to different agents and got conflicting information from each. After trying to decipher the best deal/scenario for pick up and drop off, we decided to go with a uhaul truck to pick up in Ottawa and return in Russell, ON. We arrived and the person responsible for getting things set up wasn’t even there. They arrived 15 minutes later and didn’t know how to open the lock. We waited another 30 minutes while they tried to get the back of the uhaul open to get the key. Several other people had to be called in to try to unlock the lock. What could have been a 10 minute pick up ended up costing us 45 minutes. As a result, we missed out move out inspection appointment at our building. Additionally, the location to pick up was not as specified in the booking. We ended up needing to pick up the truck further from our destination, which resulted in putting more than the allotted kilometres on the uhaul truck. Will definitely be using another truck rental service the next time we need one. We will definitely not be recommending uhaul to anyone. However, the return of the truck went smoothly, as we had great customer service at the uhaul in Russell Ontario (Consession Street). He also did not charge us for our extra 4 miles. Uhaul is lucky to have this person representing their business. Overall, all other dealings with the company have been extremely disappointing.

Worst customer service! Our renting time or location got changed 4 times! Then when we finally thought that our truck was reserved for good, we went to a location in Gatineau where we were supposed to get our truck, to hear that they did not have any truck for us (they changed our renting time without sending any email/text message!) Thus, we had to drive 1 hour more to pick up a truck far in Ottawa. We will next time rent a truck with Discount.

I returned the truck with full of tank and they charge me for gas. also they charge me extra, then i called them, they said they gonna refund the money on my credit card, but they never did. Its is such scam business. I will never recommend someone at all.

I arrived to find out my reservation had been changed without calling to ask if I could manage the new time and location. There was a 6hr discrepancy between my original reservation and this new unconfirmed reservation. When a reservation is guaranteed, you can't change it without speaking with the customer. The clerk did a great job finding me a truck but it shouldn't have had to happen when there is a written guarantee. It wasted an hour of moving time for myself and the 8 people helping me move. Unacceptable.
