Truck was returned 2 hours late. Cab reeked of cigarette smoke. Last renters apparently put dog in bed of truck which pooped in bed of truck creating another nice smell. We had to air out cab and truck bed for a large part of tge pick up day and put air freshners in cab. No fault of location whose staff stated they denoted same odors in their attempts to clean/ disinfectMichael S.

The location was fine; I called their office (which is at another location) to clarify a couple of things/get help with the process and the folks on the other end of the line were very friendly and helpful. I am NOT impressed with the app/Uhaul in general, however. I had to stand in the sun in a vacant lot at high noon for 45 minutes, jumping through all of these hoops just to get on the road, several of which could have just as easily been done during the reservation process. I returned the van with more fuel in the tank than when I'd picked it up but got charged an addition $6 for fuel and an additional $2 of mileage because the app just -happened- to bug out during that part of check in. Another thing that bothers me: the contacts I listed as options to contact in case the truck didn't make it back were called IMMEDIATELY upon entering their info into the app. What would have happened had none of them answered? If you are planning to use these sources as general references rather than in a delinquency case, 1. SAY SO, so I can at least give them a heads up that they might be bothered or give you names of folks who might actually be available to talk, and 2. have your customers set this up during the reservation process so there's actually time to get this information.Sarah S.

Originally, I was supposed to pick up a 5x8 trailer an hour away from my location. I had a reservation that I made on Friday, and my pick-up date was the following Sunday. Sunday comes, I called the place, asked if I could come grab it a few hours before the appointment time, the guy on the phone said he won't have that trailer in until Tuesday or Wednesday. I called U-Haul and told them what had happened, and they sent me to a location 1.5 hours away. I go pick up the trailer, no one is at the storage place, I hook up the trailer and drive away. 10 seconds later I get a call from a woman (who was very nice) and said I had to drive into town at their U-Haul dealership and sign papers and whatnot. This was not told to me by the U-Haul rep I talked to on the phone. I turned around and got all the paperwork done and I was off. I will not be using U-Haul again, their customer service was absolute garbage.Jesse R.

Mobile pickup was a nightmare. Had to keep inputting info many many times. Called the 800 number for assistance but couldn't get past the recording then couldn't disconnect the call. Had to shut off my phone to disconnect! After 45 minutes and re entering my info no less than 20 times, we were finally able to get the keys! Upon return the mobile app worked perfectly but charged me $79 for the $19 van plus all sorts of extras including gas at $22 for a quarter tank (70 miles from start to finish). The lot was very small and incorporated with storage sheds. Very little room to maneuver a 26' truck. Plus no place to park without blocking something. Additionally the place I returned the truck seemed pretty far from my location.Paul L.

the app for returning the equipment kept crashing. I was told by the app to take pictures of the trailer and drop off location. the pictures would not upload and kept making me start over. a process that should have taken 2 minutes took 15 min. because of the app.Greg S.

Trailer was not cleaned out. When getting the trailer at home, I had to sweep it out before loading my belongings. The woman that help me get the trailer was very helpful and very kind. However, returning the trailer was a nightmare. I spoke to a woman named Pam who gave me a location to drop it off. When showing up, they said I was not allowed to drop it off there would need to drive two hours away to drop it off because Pam did not make the changes. When contacting the pickup location, the woman on the phone very rudely told me â€œthere's nothing I can do for you. You would need to wait for Pam and they will charge you a $50 fee in order to leave it until you talk to her.â€œ Pam was very friendly herself. However did not make the changes needed. I had a really good experience picking up. However, the woman I spoke with they made it so I will never work with this location again. Nor will I recommend this location based on the service I received today. The drop off location gave me a number to contact. Once doing so, they were able to work with the location and let me drop it off. The location I dropped off the trailer to was very helpful.Amanda S.

The van had poor rear tires. The weather in this area of Upstate New York is very snowy and cold in the winter(Syracuse NY is the snowiest city in US averaging 124 inches a year) This van was equipped with very poor tires, and should have had snow tires at least on the rear wheels. I am 75 and have been driving since I was 16. I drove very carefully through the snowy roads, but felt very insecure with the slipping and sliding. UHaul needs to equip any vehicles that drive in an upstate NY winter with good snow tires!Francis D.
Backing the larger size uhaul out of the space allotted is difficult with the storage units directly behind them. It's doable, just more difficult than it should be.Jennifer B.
The agent, Pam, was great. Our move was accomplished as planned. The van ran fine except that its rear-wheel drive, without snow tires, struggled up some country roads and we could NOT get it out of our driveway to return the vehicle; much shoveling and rock salt finally did the trick. The rate I paid was obscene. Where I returned the trailer had it rented before I got there so it wasn't a place where there aren't many rentals. I will do everything I can to never rent from U-Haul again. Everyone was great and helpful where I rented it and dropped it off.Steven R.
