Next time tell the customer that there is a 20 dollar after hours fee especially if they ask if they can drop it off after hours....instead of saying yes, say yes and it will be 20 dollars to do so.

Using the app to return the truck is not too bad. Using the app to pickup a truck was fairly cumbersome last time I used it. Seems like it was a bit overkill on the verification (such as having another person to call). Would be nice if you could just gather enough info before arriving to pickup that the actual pickup could go faster. I think from now on I'll just plan on picking up when the place is open and then return it when I need to. Using the app for the pickup actually makes it harder than just going there when the place is open.

First off, when choosing the facility online they do not tell you if the actual facility will be open on the day you have the reservation. The process of receiving the access code to the facility was confusing, you need to start the pickup process before you can get into the facility even though you dont have access to the truck yet. You need to write down the access code to the facility because it doesn't give it to you again when atarting the dropoff process. After dropping off the truck there was no way to exit facility due to no one being on-site, the only way the gate opens to exit is if you are in a vehicle so i would have been stuck behind a barbed wire fence all night if someone had not driven up in a car. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

I made a reservation for 1130am at the lakemoore location. 3 days before my move I was told that my reservation was moved to the McHenry location. I showed up to pick up my 17 foot truck. To be told that I can't get it until 530pm. I wasn't given a straight answer for why my 1130am reservation got moved to 530pm. Ended up getting sent to the round lake beach location to get a cargo van.... so yeah went from a 17 foot truck that was reserved at one location to a cargo van 3 location's later. I will never use uhaul again. Or recommend then to anyone.

Remind the customer to ask and take note of the code to open the gate of the facility. This will help prevent delay in returning the rental. I suggest using the U-Haul app. I used the U-Haul app to pick up and return the rental. The app is easy to use and makes the whole process pleasant. This was my experience. When I picked up the rental, I did not need the code because the gate was open. When I returned the rental, the gate was already closed (after office hours). I had to call the U-Haul customer service number for assistance. After explaining what I need to the first U-Haul customer rep, I was requested to hold so the rep can find out. While I was waiting, the call was disconnected. I had to call again. I was informed by the second U-Haul rep (Jennifer - was pleasant to talk to) that their office does not have the code and that she needs to transfer me to U-Haul 24/7. Once I was connected, I was immediately given the code which enabled me to enter the facility and return the rental. These series of calls would not have been needed had I had the code.

Rented from one location. Person from that location called to let me know truck came back in and will be available for me to pick up. Then uhaul corporate called later that day and left me a message that my original location was not a 24/7 and I had to get my truck from another location. The hours of operation were exactly the same as the original location. This added unnecessary miles to my rental. When I went to pick up my truck the so said I did not have a reservation even though I had confirmation emails. Through your chat feature I spent about half an hour to finally get the codes to get in the facility. They said the problem was that I did not pick up the truck at 8pm. The start of my 24hr rental. I feel the reservation should be kept open the full 24hr time I rented the truck. This caused undo aggravation and time to my move.

There was no one onsite! Which sucks when you have to have an access code to enter the property and the 34 1/2' long truck is sticking out into a busy road. Luckily a patron of the facility arrived shortly after I did and gave me his code to enter the facility. Too bad no one was onsite to check in the vehicle. It was a shit experience.

We had a 9 AM reservation. The location was supposed to open at 9 but no one showed up until 10 AM. Then I was on 24/7 share or something like that, so once I could get into the location I had to go through that process to rent the truck and also go through the same process when I returned it. It's a hassle having to go around and take pictures of , myself, my license, etc. to rent the truck. then when I return the women sitting behind the desk just sits there and tells me to use the app to check the truck back in. So I have to go back out and take pictures of the mileage, gas level, and multiple truck interior pictures before I can check out. No point having a human there if they can't show up on time, and when they are there just tell you to go do it yourself. Bad experience overall.

if I did not inspect trailer I would have been charged for a missing light lense entire housing. After waiting for the installer to install new lense.... it fell out 200 miles later because he used too small of screws! I was not told the wiring harness was short and I must pick up my own adaptor to have lights!

I WILL NEVER USE THIS PLACE AGAIN! I picked the truck up and the woman explained that the truck was clean and inspected when last returned. I drove the truck to the local Home Depot to pickup building materials but they were not available. I drove the truck back without ever opening the back door. I was charged $25 cleaning fee because they said that there was glass in the back of the truck. How can there be glass if the truck was inspected prior and I never opened the door? The woman was very rude and unwilling to assist me. I think that it is their attempt to swindle customers and make more money (as they are a smaller family owned operation and this was the daughter). I use Uhaul alot in the past but this has certainly jeopardized my future relationship with them.

I arrived and the location was closed, gate locked. I was unable to contact uhaul customer support or the location. I sat around for more than half an hour until someone exited the location, then I had to wait again to get out. Horrible experience.

I tried to register oml;ine but your system locked up on me. Before it did, I had scheduled a pick up of 12noon. We got there and there was a sign that they would be back at 12:30 so we had to wait. The system did go through as she had my info there. It added the insurance though that I did not want. The truck was great. Very new and ran well. But it did not have seat 3 in the cab only seats for 2 and there was NO RAMP. That was a big problem I was not expecting. That size truck should have a ramp! Not the locations fault but U Haul, I imagine.

Everything was wonderful except for a large 2in deep hole in the middle of the truck (panel was broken so one side was down). When using the dolly it got stuck here easily. We ended up breaking a dresser at one point. It was upsetting.

The system was updating this morning so check in was slow. But the associate that was working was very attentive and made the experience very good. I think updates should be done on Sundays while the office is closed.

I made my reservation a day ahead so I could have everything ready to go when I got there. Was very disappointed to be pointed to a van that was buried in 9 inches of snow. Took me 20 minutes to get the snow off the windshield and another five minutes to wait for the windshield to be defrosted. Finally get ready to go, (while I'm freezing cold f from digging and wet from my feet to my knees) the van is stuck because of the nine inches of snow behind it. No one comes out to help me, takes another 10 minutes to dig and push my way out of the snow. The experience was horriable! Never again will I rent a truck from your location. As a customer I should not have had to move the snow off van especially 6-9 inches!!!

The agent was VERY rude and unprofessional. She refused to look over the truck with me. Didn't even tell us to do it. She accused me of lying when I told her the pads were not sealed. I had to argue with her to put a seal on it. She was wearing pink pajama pants in the office. It was the worst rental experience I've ever had. I will never rent from this location again!

Went to pick up my rental truck at 10a however they did not open the gate until 1010a I had to sit and wait. The service person and truck was all good it was just the waiting to open that was a problem.

Which I took photo inside Da cap.. miles side of the truck and inside the back of the truck which it was clean... upon returning the truck on Sunday there was no one there to received truck... it was close ..just to charge me $100.00 for cleaning which is a lie... No direct telephone number. Got there at 5:45 pm. No after hours drop off. Customer service at their"call center" were useless. Unless they can come up with an obvious after hours drop off, then U-Haul should drop them

The individual in the office at Lake County Storage actually made a phone call to someone to help me. She went out of her way to accommodate. The key code the girl gave me to let myself back thru gate after hours to drop off the cargo van I rented, did NOT work! If it wasn't for another guy coming OUT of the property, I would NOT have been able to gain access to the property for dropoff!!!!!! **** Also, When I asked the girl to do a work around of the rental van BEFORE I left with it, she insisted that it had already been looked over from the previous renter dropoff.. I told her that made NO sense because, just like renting a car from Enterprise, the agent and the customer ALWAYS do a walk around of inside and out review for any damage BEFORE a customer drives off with it! But I INSISTED!!! that I would NOT be taking the van WITHOUT doing a walk around inside and out to protect myself! ** If I were UHAUL, and ALL locations, I would INSIST that ALL employees and customers do a walk around in and out of the vehicle being rented BEFORE THE VEHICLE LEAVES THE PROPERTIES! **

I was charged a $14.00 fee on my invoice for insurance that I did not approve of and was not made aware of when I set the reservation over the phone. Very concerning and not the fault of the rental location but customers should be aware of ALL fees and charges.

I originally requested a 24' truck. it was confirmed online. When I received my confirmation text message I was notified that I could pick up my truck at 6:30pm when i had requested 9am. They also confirmed a smaller truck (20'). I called UHaul and said that a 20' truck at 6:30pm was unacceptable. At that time I was notified that a 20' truck was unavailable and I had to settle for a 17' foot truck. It gets better. In order to compensate for the loss of 7' of covered truck space, i had to grab a trailer for the hitch in another town with the smaller truck they gave me and pay for that mileage to pick it up and drop it off. Also, because I received a smaller truck, I had to make multiple trips, increasing my mileage. I was moving literally 10 minutes away, but because of the extra trips I had to take, I racked up 74 miles. Next, when I picked up the truck, I ordered 24 furniture pads. When I got there, they only had 21, but I was charged for all 24. Management has yet to explain why, and provide a refund. Next, I requested 1 dolly. I was charged for 2, and I didn't use the dolly they provided as my helpers showed up with 3 altogether. They refuse to refund me the cost of one of the dollies. It was explained to me that because I requested it, even though I didn't use it, I still have to pay for it. Where's the logic here? If I did not request a dolly, and I detached the one they have on the truck, I would be charged for using it. If I did not ask for a dolly, and did not use the one attached to the truck, I would not be charged for it. Why are they demanding I pay for a dolly I did not use? I received a phone call from someone at the regional office. He refused to refund the overcharge on the furniture pads and he refused to refund the price of the other dolly. When I asked him to else I can talk to, he replied that there is no one else. I advised him that it's highly unlikely he has no boss. I asked him who his boss was and he gave me a name. I asked if I can be transferred to her, he said, "No, I don't have the ability to transfer you." He gave me the number to the regional office (which is the same office he was calling from). I said, "So you want me to call back the same number that you are calling me from to ask to speak to your boss (that he initially didn't have)." he said, "yes." I currently have left a message with someone who answered the phone there and left a message for that guy's boss. ................to be continued.

In addition to our earlier comments about the "cleaning" charge, we were under the impression that this rental came with a free month of storage. We learned at the storage facility, this didn't apply to this location. We simply shopped the list of providers you had on your website. It clearly stated that these facilities participate in the free month offer, for using UHaul. This is another disappointment. Your company makes it difficult to do business. We did our homework and in the end, not only did we NOT get a free month of storage, we got slammed with $25 fee.....AND we returned the truck with 1/2 tank of gas, when we were only required to return it with 1/4 tank of gas. We feel entitled to a free month storage and a refund of the gas or $25 fee. Sorry but we feel taken advantage of. Gene and Diane Taylor

I SCHEDULED 3 DAYS IN ADVANCE FOR A TOW DOLLY. WENT TO THE YARD AND ALL THREE TOW DOLLY'S HAD NON FUNCTIONING TAIL LIGHTS. SO I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION FOR MY EQUIPMENT PICKUP. THIS IS POTENTIONALY DANGERIOUS AND NOT ACCEPTABLE.
