Worst experience with U-Haul Possible. The location showed the truck and was ready and clean but the key was locked outside a fence where I was told to contact U-haul over the phone for the code where I waited over 40 minutes to be passed around and on hold to never get an answer. They repeatedly created new reservations for me but nothing worked and told me they could see notes but personally couldn't tell me the code. After consulting with the worker in the building and having him talk to customer service which again was useless he gave me a whole new reservation and saved me unlike customer support. Just moved to the area and rent vans often for events. This location is really for customers who are used to using U-Haul's mobile app. I was able to pick up, park my car on the street and drop off late evening same day. This is the only reason I gave 4-stars. If your looking for actual customer service on-site, this is not the place for you. The office didn't answer the phone during business hours and when picking up, no one was in the office. That said, I'll be using this site again. GraciasAvram S.
Owner changed the details to a phone pick up early in the morning which i didn't see until i got to the location. I then lost an hour trying to log in and access the 24/7 self service only to find that we weren't give a code to open the lock box. I then had to wait another hour after being passed around customer service to cancel the pick up altogeher. Overall it was a terrible experience and I lost two hours of my day.Fernanda G.
I showed up to the location and no one was there. It was raining heavily and I had to wait 20 min for someone to show up. They didn't provide a walk through of the truck and just handed me the keys. They back of the truck was trashed and had two full garbage bags of trash I had to remove prior to using. Really unpleasant experience.Christ H.

The reason I would recommend this location to a friend is because there is someone named Manu (not sure of the spelling) who is in charge of it. Mistakes were made when I checked out the truck and I was not happy. But Manu reached out to me PERSONALLY and took care of EVERYTHING. Manu was just great, so when you use this location you know you have someone there who cares and will take care of you if something goes wrong. Also a BIG shout out to Dawn at the U-Haul 800 number who also helped me and got my information to Manu just like she promised. GREAT job everyone!Howard H.
When returning the truck the driveway where I was supposed to leave it was blocked. I could not get in touch with anyone in the office so I called the main Uhaul office and they could not get in touch with LA Motors. I could not find a place to park the truck for 3 hours. I was charged for an additional day and for gas. When I first picked up the truck the gas gauge read 1/4 tank. When returning the truck I had just shy of a 1/2. However, because I drove around for 3 hours trying to find a place to park I used up some gas. I was so frustrated that no one was there to help me. I could not find whomever owned the car that was blocking LA Motors driveway. The man who rented me the truck was a lovely guy, but, the experience of the failed attempt to return it on time tainted my overall experience.terri S.

We arrived at this location to find a small, overgrown car lot of some sort, very rundown. In addition there was no one there and the office was locked. We waited 30 minutes before anyone arrived ad we were then told our paperwork wasn't approved by U-Haul and were asked if we'd had "some problem with U-Haul?". Eventually, the the request went through and off we went. We returned the van within 90 minutes. Three days later we got a call from U-Haul asking when we were returning the van! We explained we'd returned the vehicle within 90 minutes the same day. The paperwork emailed now reflects what actually happened (although it lists an address for me which I've never seen before). We would NOT reach out to U-Haul any time soon. Very poor experience.DENNIS H.

When I called on Friday and spoke with someone named Moe about picking up my van later than 11am, he told me I had already gotten the vehicle. I explained that this was impossible and he told me to come today (Sat) at 8am but the locstion does NOT open until 11am. And then I get a receipt for the vehicle. I initially scheduled my truck pickup from the Hollywood location since that was closer to where I was moving from. I got a call shortly after scheduling that they'd have to re-schedule to a different location due to availability and that I'd be credited an extra 10 miles. This was alright because it was the same pickup time and their listed closing time is 6:00 PM. On the day of the scheduled pickup the manager, Courtney, called my phone upwards of 7 times as I was driving on the road. She later called my emergency contact and said she wanted to close earlier and asked if I could come pickup the truck earlier than our scheduled 12 PM pickup time. I informed her that I would try to arrive earlier, but it would be difficult as I was in Pasadena. She later said that she HAD to close early and didn't specify the circumstances. Upon informing her that I would do my best, but made no promises she was rude and told me if I wasn't there by exactly 12 PM that she would cancel the pickup. Upon arriving she had most of the paperwork filled out with information over the phone and appeared to be on www.NBA.com instead of paying attention to me. When I returned the truck this morning I only then noticed that she had listed the pickup time as a time before I even arrived to the location. I took a Lyft to the UHaul location and the receipt even shows that I didn't arrive until well after she listed my pickup time as. I was charged a $40 extra day fee because of this and require a refund. This was overall an awful experience because of this woman. My other experience with UHaul in the past was excellent however this ordeal will make it unlikely that I'll use UHaul in the future or recommend them to a friend.David Y.
Uhaul changed my preferred rental location without sending me an email notifying me of the change, so I initially went to the wrong pick-up location. My pick-up time was scheduled for noon, even though I received confirmation that the pick-up time would be at 8 AM on Wednesday, May 25th. Luckily, I was able to speak with a representative and have the pick-up time moved to 9 AM, however, the branch that I was reassigned to did not open until 9:30 AM, and so I ended up waiting 30 minutes for the rental office to open up. Furthermore, the rental truck's check engine light was on, and it was making strange noises throughout the drive, which made me question its safety and reliability. This was the worst overall experience that I have ever had with a self-service moving company.Rainie S.
Nothing to do with the location. It's the changing of requested location. Then I learn on my own that this location opened about an hour later than the one requested. Uhaul didn't inform me. Take a rag and clean the inside of your trucks, wiper blades were worn out not great for driving in a cloud burst.Mark B.
The woman who checked me in in the morning was great. The man who checked me out was not informative and a bot rude. The van had ashes in it and smelled of smoke. There was a dolly in the back that I had not rented and was in my way for my move. I had rented the van for 9am, but the facility did not open until 9:30am.Sarina S.

I waited for an hour while the ONE associate was on lunchbreak before I could check out the truck. He left his phone number which I called, said he would be there in 10 minutes so I waited for another 20 minutes for him to show. He repeatedly tried to pressure me to buy the insurance when I told him I selected the reimbursement option. They didn't have the dolly that I reserved online. He said if he wasn't there when I returned to park it across the street, on street parking. Thankfully there was a spot open when I returned. This was the worst experience possible.Paul M.

Sadly my experience was below par. Early the morning of the rental I was informed by LA Motors that the truck I had reserved was not available and they could only offer me a 10' truck (as apposed to a 15'). I accepted and confirmed a 10am pickup. I arrived at 10am and no one was there. I call both emergency numbers listed and neither answered. 25 minutes later the owner arrived and processed the rental. The vehicle was new and in good condition, but had an ant problem!! Crawling in and around the dashboard/cupholder and at one point I smacked one that had made it's way up my neck. Luckily I only needed the truck for a few hours and managed with the nuisance. Both the owner and Uhaul rep were nice, but the lack of equipment, untimely arrival and ant have definitely left me with a bad taste. I will look elsewhere for my next rental. In attempting to reserve this Uhaul I faced a lot of difficulty with just trying to discuss scheduling with customer service. First off, this specific dealer never picked up their phone. Secondly, the people who did pick up the phone, I presume from Uhaul corporate or otherwise, were incredibly incompetent. I was trying to schedule a one-way pick-up/drop-off because I do not own a car and there is a Uhaul down the street from where I was moving from and another Uhaul right by where I was moving to, but for whatever bureaucratic reason, Uhaul makes this extremely difficult. Furthermore, when trying to get a quote on the price change, the first customer service agent cancelled my reservation. Only when we found out it would not make sense did she have to re-reserve things as they were. Then when I called back a few hours later, having received no word that the new reservation had been made, the second customer service agent I spoke to made a big deal out of, "well it's the end of the month, and if you had done xyz weeks ago, this would not be a problem." Let me be clear: as a customer, I could care less how difficult re-establishing my reservation may or may not be. This is the service I am paying for. I am not your boss. Don't try to give me excuses or belittle my decision making based on it inconveniencing your 9-5 workday. I don't want to hear lip like this again, and so I will not be using Uhaul again. It's not worth being complained to by the service that I am paying for.Kurtis G N.

I waited over an hour for the owner to get there. The vehicle was parked off the lot on a main street that I had to cross and return the vehicle to and find parking for. The ignition wasn't working properly. I had to keep turning and pumping brake just to start vehicle. Visor was broken and kept flopping down in windshield. Inside vehicle was dusty and dirty. Windshield was very dirty and hard to see when sun hit it.ANGELA T.

We requested two dollies when we reserved our truck, one utility dolly and one furniture dolly. When we arrived at the location, we were told that they did not have the dollies available. We were then told that if we needed dollies, we must drive the Uhaul truck to another location at our own expense! It was a terrible experience, we ended up having to kill ourselves lifting boxes and furniture since we had no dollies. On top of the unnecessary and unexpected harsh labor we had to endure, the pricing did not add up correctly ($20 overcharge) in the end because the attendant at the location only receives a total from Uhaul that she cannot adjust.ANTIONE R.

When I picked the truck up there was a little less than half a tank. I literally went up the street and back to pick up a couch. I also live around the corner from Uhaul . The gas barely moved I returned the truck in less than two hours and was charged ten dollars for gas. I called to speak with someone was told I would get a call from the manager on Monday morning. I rented a simple refrigerator dolly to move a fridge down some stairs to my garage. I had to leave a $60 cash deposit which I did. Don't know why since they had my credit card info and drivers license on file, but whatever. No problem. The real problem was that the dolly had not been properly maintained and did not work whatsoever. The wheels worked fine, and the straps worked fine, but the 2 smooth rolling continuous belt stair climbers were completely inoperable. Since they did not roll, they essentially made it impossible for the dolly to slide down the stairs and so we ended up having to carry both the fridge and the dolly. It was brutal. While it says a Uhaul is only $20 a day, my rental is coming out to $240 for 4 days. And I re-filled the tank so...You guys are obviously deceitful. On top of that, when I returned the uhaul, I parked it next to the office where I got it. I returned the key and the owner tells me to park the uhaul across the street on busy Venice Blvd, in what would be a very tight parallel parking spot. I tell the guy I'm not comfortable parking there, and begins to yell at me - Fully yell at me, telling me I'm an asshole and to never come back. EVEN THOUGH I PARKED THE UHAUL RIGHT NEXT TO HIS OFFICE. I simply didn't want to parallel park a tight spot on a busy street in a U-Haul. Frankly, this man should be fired and it is shameful that he is running this 6086 Venice operation.MICHAEL B.

Everything was ok with the van, but my bill was totally wrong. I drove 14 miles and I was charged for 164 miles. Also, I was charged one additional day. WHY?! I picked up the van at 10:40 am (odometer reading 11778) and dropped off at 6:00 pm (odometer reading 11792). Today I asked explanations and the girl who managed my rent told me that her manager had to correct my bill and that they would have contacted me in a hour. I have been not contacted yet. If I do not have my bill and credit card transaction corrected within tomorrow I will leave negative feedback wherever I can. The original location that I made an advance reservation at, did not have a vehicle me. I was very disappointed that they did not know of this until after my arrival and after my appointment time. The location at 6086 Venice Blvd was GREAT!! They were able to give me options based on the length of my rental and were very accommodating. Being that I was already late having come from another U-Haul location, they were able to get me check in and on my way very quickly. Helpful, friendly and polite. I highly recommend this location. This was the most disgusting and unorganized renting location I've experienced. Not only that, both employees working were incredibly rude and unprofessional. The manager even had the nerve to tell me in an argument that I was unprofessional for not showing my insurance card when it was never asked for or mentioned. I'm not a professional uhaul renter, nor do I intend to be. I will make sure that everyone I know never uses this location or company again. Absolute rip offKEITH M.

I feel it is a scam to have the trucks with fuel tank filled at a miscellaneous place on the gas tank so that the driver must refuel it to that line. It is very hard for someone to gauge where that line is. I feel the only fair thing to do it to offer the trucks with a full gas tank and ask that the tank be fully fueled when returned.KENDRA H.

There was no-one at the office in the morning at opening time, and there was no-one at the office in the afternoon when I returned the truck (had to put the keys in the box and go even though it was only 4pm and they're supposed to be open until 6)TIMBER H.
Over the phone I made a reservation, with credit card and added a driver's name. The operator said the driver could pick up the truck. When he arrived at the location they did not have my credit card info and said I needed to be there to pick up the vehicle. The call center and the actual office need to get it together on what the policy actually is...JESSICA R.
The truck had potato chip and candy wrappers in it when I got inside. When I returned it, the girl never came out and checked the fuel gauge with me and THEN put a fake fuel charge on my bill for $45!!! I had a receipt from the gas station to prove that I filled it back up to where it was. I put in $6.50 of gas and I only drove 24 miles so that was PLENTY to get the tank back where it was and more. When I left, the girl also said she was going to email me a final receipt and never did. There's not a doubt in my mind that they were trying to scam me by not checking the fuel gauge in front of me when I returned it, adding a COMPLETELY false fuel charge (I had proof!) and then intentionally not emailing me the receipt with the fake fuel charge. I'm sure they were hoping I just wouldn't notice it on my credit card statement. TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. No doubt about it. Luckily, the regional manager was on my side and refunded my money. However, the people running the location at 6086 Venice Blvd are scam artists. Worst rental experience of my life. Hands down.Ram O.
We were told pick up time was 9:00am, this location didn't open until 9:30.....reality was they opened at 9:40! They made a point of saying tank was 1/4 full when really it was1/8 full. They did not walk the truck with us or offer any additional service. However, the place we returned the uhaul too was kick-ass!!! Great service, on time and clean! We are moving to Utah soon and will definitely use the Menifee location !!!ANN P.

We selected a different location on Motor and National and were sent an email an hour before pickup time that there were no vehicles available. This is unacceptable. After complaining to The Motor lAve. Uhaul, they located a vehicle at the above Venice Blvd UHaul. Then we had to pick it up on Venice blvd. not as convenient. The worst rental experience of my life. The gas was posted at 5/8 full when it was just over 1/2 full. When I returned it there was nowhere to park and the office was closed in the middle of the day. Then they said I returned it at 1/4 full and tried to charge me $80. for fuel. Thankfully I had photographed everything and was able to dispute the charge. HORRIBLE in every way.STEVE M.
