We used the van we rented to deliver a large barbecue and other furniture to our son who lives in Chicago (about 6 hours' drive from here). The van was spacious, clean, and far more comfortable than I expected. I particularly appreciated that it was Bluetooth-enabled, allowing me to connect my phone for hands-free calling and music streaming. Unfortunately, their customer service was not comparably impressive. I rented the van for 4 days and 800 miles -- they determined that the most cost-effective way to price this out was to charge me their weekly rate (which includes 7 days and 750 miles). When I contacted them to ask if I could return the van 2 hours later than scheduled (i.e. 6:00 instead of 4:00 on the 4th day), I was told that they would charge me for that change. The charge was not significant, but the principle was galling. I had paid them the weekly rate, and quickly established that there was not another customer in line to use the van immediately after me. To my mind, the company put making an extra buck for no extra cost to them above accommodating a simple request that would have made my life more convenient. I had no problems, but if I had, this decision tells me that they would have gouged me for everything they possibly could. I will definitely think twice about renting from them again, despite the fact that I really enjoyed the equipment. Here's an example of concern: at the 24/7 pickup location where I picked up and returned the van, I went through a million checks to verify the condition of the van and my identity. That's all fine. BUT, it turns out that the van was not kept securely by UHaul, and major vandalism damage or theft could easily have been perpetrated by others (and given how they dealt with me, I'm sure they would have tried to hold me responsible for this). The lockbox where I got my key was a simple mechanical tumbler lock. Previous users didn't bother to scramble the numbers (as most renters would not), so I could have lifted the key simply by walking up to the box, clicking the combination ahead by one number (yes, my combination was just one greater than the last combination!), opening the box and driving away! Perhaps even worse, when another person returning his truck to the same location realized immediately after he dropped his keys into the key return that he had locked his personal car keys in the UHaul he was returning, we discovered that the key dropbox looked like it had a lock, but the actual lock mechanism was completely missing (i.e. the tab that rotates to secure the box closed or open it when you insert and turn the key was absent). So the "lockbox" was really just a shelf on which everyone set their keys. Now if this is how UHaul wants to protect their equipment, that would ordinarily be fine with me. But given how quick they were to seize the opportunity to gouge me for every last penny rather than maintain a warm and fuzzy relationship with their customer makes me worry about who they would try to hold liable for anything that happened as a result of their lax security!Jeffrey J.

I am very disappointed with my overall experience. Mostly with uhaul corporate and not the small business I picked up the vehicle from. I was charged twice what the online reservation system quoted. I was redirected to another location after making reservation. The $50 vehicle guarantee is false. Very frustrating.Richard P.

Picked up and returned same day (he was closed when I returned it, he's not open on Sunday, but I only used it Saturday from 10:51AM to 7:50PM. All went well. Location owner was great to work with! Only problem I had was uhaul's website was down, but it was the last Saturday of the month. They should upgrade their servers. Other than that, easy rental. Took photos and video to save in case needed since the lot is open. Thanks UHAUL and location owner!Duane S.

There were no signs suggesting that this place was a uhaul dealership and there were no trucks there either. I was debating on even leaving the key. I was also charged for fuel when I put the same amount that was in it back in. U haul in general seems to rip you off anyway they can .Matthew F.
