The clerk who rented the truck on Saturday May 1 was inexperienced and lacked knowledge to perform efficient rental.. The manager apologized on return of the truck and explained this clerk was new. They should not offer service if they are not trained. The manager reduced the gas charges and offered free dolly rental, but it was not what we needed. We needed efficient service.EILEEN M.

I spent 30-45 minutes both picking up and returning the equipment. Also, they told me it would be a $60 hold on my car, which ended up being $100. Then they couldn't figure out how to refund me so they told me I could go home and I'd get my refund and email confirmation, which never came. My total was much less than $100 and I've still not gotten my refund! This is ridiculous .Samantha R.

The man who ran it had me put in all the information, didn't give my a key to the padlock on the back, when I returned he blamed me for not giving him enough time when my husband stayed and made a purchase 15 min after the keys to the ignition were in my hand. To make matter worse once I was leaving he grabbed my left fore arm which has been in recovery for second and first degree burns. At that point I went to my car where he began banging on my driver side window while my friend was on the phone with a representative of Uhaul. My friend handled the man outside my vehicle. It wasted an hour and a half . Then come to find out that the gas gage wasn't working properly after putting 45 in without having the needle register.tAMILEE E.

I got the truck on empty. Somebody has been living in the back of the truck. We found trash , pizza box and bunch of dirty clothes in back. The truck smelled like cigarettes. The place I originally ordered the truck from changed the time. After I turned the truck in I get a charge of 122 dollars for not refueling when I put more fuel then I received it. Worst rental I ever had. I am ex military and moved a lot. I will not come recommend service from this company at all. Stay away from uhaul.NICOLAS G.

I told the guy at the register that I was here to pick up the U-Haul and his response was rudely â€œI don't know what your talking aboutâ€ then I found another worker who helped me. He then pushed for me to get insurance which I did not want, he was treating me like I was going to take the U-Haul for a joy ride as he emphasized how important It was that I was safe with the vehicle. I don't need a lecture from the guy I'm picking up the keys from. Thanks.Kyle D.

The only thing you can do to improve the experience for the next customer is to refer them to Lovey at Johnny king Liquor & Food. He was pleasant, professional, and genuinely concerned. I picked up a small truck from his location after having a very difficult time finding the size truck I needed. Moving itself can be hard and stressful at times. And I moved my apartment from pittsburg, to a storage in concord then to my final destination in Jackson ca. Almost 2 hours from his location. There was a minor misunderstanding with my truck rental because I originally wanted to do a one way. Got a special for bringing it back to his location but still more issues on my end with the time the rental was actually returned. I kept in touch with Lovey and everything I asked him about concerning my rental he willingly gave me any and all information I needed. I asked about gas, mileage (I did 411 in one day of moving), and other things that he was extremely helpful with. I believe my truck was a newer one, very clean inside and out as well as the store. Helpful, friendly, and it was genuine. Great experience while dealing with a hectic move. I wish I could give 10 stars! Thank you Lovey and Staff.Brandalyn H.

We were assisted by Lovey. He saved the day for us. We had previously reserved a moving truck with Budget. But the totally screwed up our reservation and would not honor it. We were left with no truck. Just by chance I saw that this location rented moving trucks. So I went in. Although the location is in a bit of sketchy neighborhood, the people were great. Lovey was so helpful and caring. He assisted us with a truck immediately! We are so grateful to him. We are def a client of their store for life.MICHAEL P S.

On May 13, 2017, at approximately 0800 hours, my family and I unfortunately arrived at the Jolly King Liquor and Food U-Haul location. I had contacted this location telephonically the previous day to confirm the reservation, and was disconnected from the employee three different times. The employee kept hanging up on me. So right away I was skeptical of this particular location. Upon arriving at Jolly King Liquor and Food, we contacted an employee who appeared disheveled, and unaware of our reservation for a 15 foot U-Haul truck. It took him an excessive amount of time to even figure out we had a reservation. We provided him with receipts which were printed from our home computer, however the employee did not seem to care. I proceeded to ask the employee if the U-Haul came with furniture pads (we paid for furniture pads, and showed proof of payment). The employee related to us after several minutes that the furniture pads were not in the U-Haul, because he did not have any in that particular U-Haul. Since we were already running late, because this had taken much longer than it needed to; I offered to pay again for furniture pads. The employee related he did not have any furniture pads to rent. At approximately 0830 hours we finally received the key to the U-Haul. After finding the U-Haul in the parking lot, we discovered a lock on the back door of the U-Haul. We entered the store again to ask the employee to open the door with a key. After several minutes of looking, the employee could not find a key to the lock. The employee brought a hammer out to the location of the U-Haul, and began striking the lock in an attempt to break the lock. The employee was unsuccessful. At that time, we contacted the scheduling manager for U-Haul, and he related that we could not get another truck because that particular truck was "dispatched" to us. I then went to tell the employee this information, and noticed there was damage to the handle where the employee was striking the lock with a hammer. I informed the employee that we are leaving and we will find a way to get the lock off the back door. I also informed the employee that we will not be held reliable for any damage caused by him striking the lock, and back door with the hammer. We proceeded to drive the U-Haul across the street to the O'reilly Auto Parts, who graciously took the lock off by using a pair of bolt cutters. We paid them for their services. This whole situation caused us grief, and frustration. I highly recommend no one use this location.Michael B.

I thought I was picking up a truck and equipment from Davis CA but was told no you have to go to Sacramento . Three phone calls to customer service they told me no you are picking up in Davis then a day later I got another call no Sacramento is where you need to go. I called customer service again and told me we could pick a truck up in Fairfield as we were coming from the East Bay not happy with the way they organize the pick up places. Even though online they ask you where you want to pick up that is not where you end up going it could be miles from your preferred location not impressed with such a big company!Karen J.
It's the night before the move and I called because our pick-up time was stated earlier on the confirmation and I just wanted to make sure that the location knew I would be there at 9 am instead of 8 am. Guess what?! They don't have the truck. "It didn't come back," the person at the location told me. "Should I be worried," I asked, hoping to hear that the truck was just going to be returned later tonight. The man on the phone told me I should be worried.Maureen W.
First off these guys tried to double charge me. Then when I called them on it they tried to get me to agree to an 8 hr rental so that they could try to rent it out again in the same 24 hour period !!! This location, Jolly King in Fairfield ca is totally scandalous !!! It just sucked dealing with those scandalous idiots and i had to call U-Haul headquarters twice ! For what it's worth though after all that the trailer was actually almost brand-new and pulled like a dream.chris W.
