The clerk at the location had no pads available, and though the truck was clean and in good working order the location was not kept up well. Furniture pads are very important for protecting contents during moving, and it's a major hassle to try to find something similar at the last minute. U-Haul has the obligation and the ability to have items available that are on the contract, so this should never have had to happen (and it's not the first time that I've had to substitute items at the last minute).Jeff V.

The internet was terrible and we couldn't get the app to work for contactless pickup. The guy inside helped us but it took his app forever too. He never walked the vehicle with us or anything. Just gave us the keys and the receipt and sent us on our way. On our 8 minute drive to our house the check engine light when on and off twice. When we got home we turned the truck off, my husband checked it out, couldn't find anything, started it back up and the light stayed off.Rachel F.

The vendor tried overcharging me twice. First, the contract claimed the truck was full on fuel, I had to take a picture to prove it wasn't. Then I was charged for 3 rental units, even though I returned it well within the initial renting period (I had it until 4 PM, it came back at 2:30 PM). The corporate number was able to resolve the refund, but this vendor is sleazy and I would not recommend them.Michael F.

Hello I just rented a U-Haul to move a few things to my apartment from 1600 new Lenox road at the mobile gas station I picked a few items up from my moms house which is right up the street 419 siegmund ave Joliet I went straight to my apartment 936 Parkview lane Lockport a total of about 5 miles there and back. I went to turn the truck in a 19.95 size truck and was shocked that I was charge $71! I always used U-Haul in the past but this is the first time I chose this location because it was so close to both of our houses. I brought the attention to the clerk when he gave me my total of $71 for going up the street???? I'm highly disappointed and I waited 45 minutes to even get the truck. I can't believe I was ripped off of of all this money and his response to me was deal with it when you get the email I have nothing to do with the truck??? I when never use U-Haul again neither will I shop at this gas station terrible customer service and I'm still not over the fact I just paid $71 for a $20 truck to go 8 minutes up the same road.Kim H.

The equipment was in very good working order. However, the previous customer did not sweep out the box, left garbage in the cab. And did not leave rhe requested amount (1/2 - 3/4) of fuel in the tank. It was below half. Upon arrival the clerk had no knowledge of my reservation, he had called someone over the phone and they had had to "create" a new reservation for me even though I'm showing them my reservation number via the app on my phone. trailer fender and light was damaged, guy didn't know how to validate my vehicle, handed me his laptop and had me try to figure it out. did not have wire for lighting, had to call service to have it delivered. passenger ratchet mechanism was worn out or damaged and seemed unsafe. no one to help hook up trailer. gas station should not be doing u haul business.bob B.

UHaul, I am sad to report that we had a horrible experience for the first time using you guys. This is in regards to master order number: 21039221, on 3/31/2018. I scheduled a pick up in Manhattan, IL. online, for return to Aurora. We usually always pick up and drop off here at the Aurora site, but we were picking up some plants in Manhattan, and to save the full 2nd trip we decided to pick up in Manhattan. We were given the address of: Tedds Custom Installation, 21719 S Center Ave, New Lenox, IL. 60451. (815)-485-2611. This was fine since it was about a 6-minute trip up to Manhattan from there. When we reached the site, the door was locked. We got there at 11am. Someone (Tedd) finally answered and he said â€œoh, well we're closing early today soâ€¦.?â€ But then continued to assist with the pickup in a very annoyed fashion. They closed at 1pm today, so I'm not sure how 11am meant 1pm? Then he said â€œwe don't have a 10ft truck, only a van or a pickup truck is availableâ€. I said â€œthat's ok I'll take the truckâ€. He then said â€œoh wait, you're dropping off in Aurora? I can't do thatâ€. He then proceeded to call UHaul to confirm, and lost his place in line on the call multiple times, because he kept hanging up to take other calls. I was there for 38 minutes while he screwed around trying to figure it out. Finally, he said I needed to go to this site: I80 Mobile Inc. 1600 New Lenox Road, Joliet IL. 60433, 815-722-3540. So, I went there to get the 10 ft truck, a 16-minute drive from Tedds. At I80 Mobile Inc. the man was much nicer and more pleasant than Tedd, but even there it took him 27 minutes to finally get it done. He never showed me the truck or checked anything, he just gave me the keys after I waited for what seemed like an incredibly long time, and I was given the truck with Â¼ tank of gas?!?! Also, it smelled/smells ripe of wet dog, and there are/were dog hairs absolutely everywhere, and the steering wheel is/was stickyâ€¦.. I have to say, I am truly disappointed. We made a mess of dirt in the bed but everything was cleaned, even the wheels. I did go through some tolls on the way back and I am paying for those with my iPass account online. At a bare minimum, I would like the $50 guarantee back since the first place didn't have the truck I needed, and I had to wait and drive to get this all figured out. Over an hour of my time wasted because your rental sites are completely disorganized. To be honest, I think after the multiple times I've now rented from you guys, and plan to continue in the future â€" I think this time around should be credited back to me in full. It was a truly pitiful experience. I will be sending this letter to your corporate headquarters and any other locations onsite and online that I can find, demanding this rental be free of charge due to my terrible experience.
