The service I received at Deal Monster was excellent, but I had to drive 90 miles just to get there. I requested a trailer in Blythe, California a full week ahead of time, and was informed the day before I was to pick up the trailer that there was not one available in Blythe and the closest one available was 90 miles away. I complained about this to the reservation agents, and they were polite and professional about it, but the best they could do was offer me an additional day at no charge. Because the trailer was being picked up on a Saturday and turned in on a Monday, an extra day was of no value to me. I felt that a 180 mile round trip just to pick up the trailer was not reasonable, and said so to one of the agents I spoke to. He said he would look into it and get back to me, but he never called back. It would be helpful if U-Haul made an effort to get the equipment to where it was needed, even if there was a reasonable service charge involved. In addition, the safety chains on the trailer came loose twice while I was towing it with the truck. I watched the instructional video on the website and connected the safety chains exactly as instructed, but still they came loose. I think a d-ring or carabiner just to keep the hooks from coming loose would help.

Too much money for an across town move

When I called to return the vehicle, the Return office was not open and I called your regular 800 nimber and was advised that I had to speak with the representative at the Return office. My time was up at 7:32am on 11/27. I tried to return the unit at 7:00 am and was told I would not be penalized. But I was. I am being charged an extra day. I called the return unit at 9:00am no one answered and called again a few minutes after 9 and was told of the return location and that I would not be charged an extra day. The vehicle was at the return location for 9:0am. Also we filled the vehicle to the level it was when we rented it and am being charged an extra $42.00 for fuel. I am requesting these charges to be reversed or waived. I called and spoke to a representative who has assigned me a ref. ID 98971
