Your mileage prices are absurd. When we realized a short trip out of town was going to bring the bill to 150, we parked it. For that kind of $, I could get a stretch limo & a driver!

We had the worst customer service experience of our lives with this recent UHAUL rental. First I had to get the keys from the Philip St location, then drive out of town in the opposite direction of the move to pick up the truck which was at a remote location called "mikes moving" yard. I entered the truck and the battery was dead, the truck wouldn't start. I called the lady at the philip st location immediately - (10 minutes later) and the employee told me that I was "on my own" and I would have to call the number for road side assistance. I spent 40 minutes on hold waiting on the phone for someone to answer. My spouse returned after buying booster cables. We had to boost the moving truck with my personal vehicle and the truck started 20 minutes later - we were over 1 hour behind schedule and the team of movers were waiting at our home. Upon arrival at our house it was discovered that the truck had issues going into Park (PRND...) Regardless of how many times I tried- it would not go into park- We ended up using the emergency brakes and stones to prevent the truck from moving. When starting the vehicle it had to be in Neutral in order to start- and I would have to boost the truck AGAIN with my personal vehicle. I have never been so stressed and upset before. Moving is already unpleasant and stressful which is why we chose UHAUL again from a previously great experience. The lack of professionalism from the Philip St location and the condition that the truck was in upon receiving has left a terrible lasting impression. I would be open to discussing the issue further if required.

I did an online reservation, said I could pick up in Huntsville and then minutes later I got a call from Uhaul saying there were no vans in Huntsville and that gravenhurst location was closed the day I was moving. My father would have to drive 40 minutes to get the van and take off another whole day of work. Wednesday came and they showed up at 8 just as the lady on the phone instructed as well as my text confirmation. A lady did nothing but tell my dad they don’t open till 1, there was no help given to him and she was extremely rude. My father stayed there for 2 hours before anyone said anything to him. I then called Uhaul to get things sorted out and they instructed me they figured it out with my father. When I called him to see how things were he was just driving back home 40 minutes to come back at 1 when they opened. I called the lady at Gravenhurst location to see if she was actually instructed to figure something out with my father but she only yelled at me saying she was told Uhaul figured it out the night before and let me know that they were not open till 1- I got this text while she was talking with me at 10:30 and hung up the phone while I was speaking with her. I then called the complaint part of Uhaul and spoke with a lady that was more help in figuring it and they took some money off. This amount didn’t even cover the wasted gas my father spent driving back and forth to granevhurst. My parents were the best in all this as they were understanding, they were to be in Oshawa for 1pm and did not arrive till 6pm and turn around and left. This was very unprofessional and will not be using this location again.

I was very satisfied with the location. My frustration is with how Uhaul operates. Basically there are no guarantees you will get a truck. I booked a truck in the town I was moving to 3 weeks in advance and was told I'd receive a call back 3 days before my move. I did receive a call but was told there were no trucks available...anywhere. I visited a second Uhaul location to talk with someone and they expressed their ow n frustration with not knowing if/when a truck is going to be at their location. They seemed as confused as I was. Eventually I did get a reservation confirmation at a completely different location. The truck was great...the location where I got the truck was great...but the process for getting a truck is crazy. I honestly don't know how you can leave customers and store owners hanging like that.

Would like to use the size of truck that I ordered. However this is perhaps difficult in a smaller center like Gravenhurst. Also, there was panic for a moment when I arrived to pick up the truck as the person on the desk didn't know where the truck was...a communication problem at the front desk.

Drop location on Philip St closes at 1PM and only 3 hour parking was available. I called on Friday to say I likely wasn't able to get there by 1 PM and I couldn't drop it off after closing as there is a 3-hour time limit on parking imposed by the town. The owner provided an alternate "after-hours" drop-off location which was further away. No one was at the alternate site.

Be careful when the person tells you a cost rate then after is informed that it’s a lot more.

The lady at the Gravenhurst, ON, direct location phone number was very helpful and accommodating; whereas the lady who replied to our inquiries at the 1-800 or 866 number on Saturday was not. The latter lady told us that the Gravenhurst location was not accepting anymore drop-offs. I explained that my printed contract said drop=off in Gravenhurst. This lady at this central number repeated that I couldn't leave it there but would have to bring it to Barrie or Orillia, ON, which was hours out of our way, and I would only be able to do that Tuesday as they were closed until then, and that I would have to pay a late charge as well (though I was trying to drop off on Saturday and I had on my contract until Sunday). I asked for the local phone numbers in Gravenhurst and Huntsville, ON, and fortunately, calling at about 11am on Saturday they were open, and the accommodating Gravenhurst lady said of course I could drop it off and gave me the exact address for my GPS. So that ended well, and we dropped-off the trailer a day early at 4-5pm Saturday. Otherwise a good U-Haul experience. Thanks. Bob Soden - 514-916-2186
