Even though we reserved and confirmed the truck the day before, no one showed up to let us in. We had to work with u-haul over the phone to get the truck. Then we actually had to fill it up BEFORE we used it. We ended up paying our movers for 2 hours of work they didn't do because of horrible customer treatment at pickup. Never again will we use your company.MARK S.
This location better than most, the equipment was in good shape although the cargo area was dirt when I picked it up. I made sure to clean all the rocks and dirt out to ensure I wasn't charged an additional fee. I will say that because of an incident that occured while on the property that involved damage to another vehicle and U-Hauls refusal to pay the claim despite paying for the additional insurance, this will absolutely be the last time I'll ever use U-Haul again. That might not mean much but I've rented 3 trucks, 2 U-boxes, and a storage in the past 3 months. I feel as though I've paid their exorbitant fees and yet they've left me high and dry with old trucks and failing to cover damages I believe to be their responsibility.Carol H.

Van had smoke and chemical smells. Made me break out in hives by the time I got a few miles down the road. Called to have them come get it. They didn't answer. Called corporate who send me back to local via regional and/or district. Local guy said he'd come get it that night. Late at night he sent a text saying he'd been called on a service call. After that he didn't respond to my contact attempts untill after I called corporate nearly 2 days after I picked it up. Corporate was nasty with me. Very rude and hostile (after the first person who transferred me politely). They basically said they could take no responsibility for the local owners actions and insisted I at my own cost return the vehicle. Because If moved, the firmer landlord threatened to get the van moved because the local guy had failed to retrieve it. It's just down the country road, not far but unsafe for me to drive. Corporate said it was on me because I trusted the local guts promises instead of making him out his claims that he'd pick up the van in writing. Having paid around $50K for storage over 8 years and having no trouble with any prior UHauk vehicle rental, I'm shocked at the lack of professionalism of both the local dealer and corporate reps. Please listen to the full recordings of the corporate people. Since I didn't make my reservation online, the local dealer having told me I could do it verbally with him, and neither he nor corporate told me I needed to cancel it or get his remedy in writing, I'm shocked that both corporate and the local dealer still wanted to charge me mileage for going a few miles to my initial destination while getting sickened and never moved it or used it in any way after that. I told him that if he didn't move it yesterday the firmer landlord was threatening to tow it at UHaul expense and I can't stop him. Corporate said they would charge me for that. The local dealer told me the night he called back after if picked up the vehicle that day that one if his regular customers had heavily smoked in that van and that he'd treated the van to remove the smell but knew it still had some contamination. He said he used the green stuff from UHaul and also used Ozium, a product full of carcinogens. He wasn't sure when or how often Ozium may have been used on that vehicle but acknowledged that it may have been used and suggested that it may have been a factor in my being sickened. On the phone, he took responsibility and seemed to car but it was unclear why he could not engage his office staff to assist in picking up the vehicle. We have used Uber to get to the former address from near the local dealer, so the office staff could have done that and driven the vehicle back to the dealer. It's close enough to do roundtrip in less than 30 minutes as it's around 7 miles on country roads. I don't know the exact distance. The dealer has family in Fallbrook and I know few people, having come not long before the pandemic and having been off work ill and otherwise working remotely from home to restart out business impacted by the pandemic. The local dealer is understaffed and didn't follow through, endangering myself and my son by exposing us to corporate threats to charge us if the firmer landlord ties the vehicle that the local dealer has failed to retrieve as promised. Having just paid a large amount for deposit and rent at our new place and with our car undrivable and needing to be replaced, this could damage each of our credit ratings, die to inability to pay bills, leaving us unable to buy a car to replace our 26yo vehicle. The local dealer also stated that other businesses use the van to transport chemical treated plant products. I appreciate his transparency in that, but putting me in this position with no benefit to me while the contaminated vehicle inconveniences the firmer landlord is a major fail. Part of the problem was his failure to communicate after he said he'd pick it up that night. All he did was send me a late night text that he was called away. But he didn't set another time or answer any of my calls or texts for a day and a half, after corporate gave me hell as though I want suppose to trust local dealers and as though my call to coorporate for help the day I first had the van was irrelevant. They just sent me back to the dealer via regional/district offices. At no time did anyone ever ask me if I was recovered medically.ANDREA M.

The only issue I had which did piss me off, I booked my rental for a location on Aviation Rd in Fallbrook. Went there and waited 20 mins. and then was told that haul moved my pickup over to this location. That would have been nice to know especially when my confirmation still showed the original the place I booked!Christopher A.

My drop off location was changed twice. The second time I was already at the 2nd location before I was informed the lot was full and they would not be able to accept my drop off. The next closest option was over 35 minutes away. This is extremely disappointing after I was told by customer service the 1st location on pacific highway was full and the 2nd location on mission Ave could take my return only to show up and be turned away.Caitlin M.

The sales person was very kind, friendly and professional. He was great! We had to drive about and hour each way. about 30 minutes into the trip I had a really bad headache and nausea. We couldn't get the air to blow properly out of the AC vents and it seemed like the air was coming from the engine. I feel like we were experiencing carbon monoxide poisoning. The same guy checked the truck back in and he asked if everything was ok. I explained the situation we experienced and he was right on it trying to fix it.Kristin L.
