He told us we had to check in the uhaul online but we were not told that. Uhaul customer service told us that the location is supposed th o check it in. Total miscommunication. We didnt get receipt til the next day. Couldnt dispute the charges if we wanted to. Never again

Update rental associates on new or updated material. Associate was not familiar with material for my rental, which forced me to wait over 40 min. for him to call someone and they talk him through it and we still were unable to print out a contract. I didn't know how much I was charged until checking my account, which was extremely higher than expected. Hopefully my experience with refunding my money want be as bad ??. Sorry

My experience to say the least with U-Haul was a total nightmare. I ordered my truck 4 days before I was to pick it up. I scheduled to pick up one of the trucks from a location where an attendant did not have to be on site. I got to the first location. There were trucks there. I went to my app to start the pick up process, but the app told me to wait and come back when the location was opened at 11:00a.m. I was scheduled to pick my truck up at 12:00 p.m. I got there at 12:00. The app was no help at all. I call uHaul, and the representative I spoke to was not that helpful, she transfered me Mashad. I think she works out of on of the U-Haul offices in Birmingham. I was trying to pick my truck up in McCalla, because that store was close to the house I was moving from, and close to the house I was moving to. Mashad told me that there were no trucks available in McCalla, but she found 1 for me in Bessemer. I told her that would work. So we get there, the truck is there. Mashad told me that the keys should be under the set. I get there the truck is unlocked but no keys are in the truck. We looked every where in the cab and in the back of the truck. Looked around the building. I called Mashad back, I couldn't get her, but got someone else in her office. They said it would be in the truck or in a box on the building. There was a drop off box for keys, but no place to get keys. Luckily the owner of Glens TV drove up as we were trying to find the keys. He was able to get the keys for the truck for us. We got the truck, but the appliance dolly that I ordered and the moving blankets were not available. I was not charged for those so that made it ok. In short the mobile app, and web site is not a reliable way to rent a truck from u-haul. I will never rent a truck that way again, and I will more than likely never rent from u-haul again. If it wasn't for Mashad and sheer luck I would not have gotten the truck that I needed.

The only issue I had was that I didn't get any paperwork to prove I had picked it up and therefore kept getting calls from Uhaul to confirm I had the truck. Uhaul's phone people calling me and asking me if I had it 3 times in one day. I already told someone else who phoned me earlier I had it, mark it down and let me be.

Said my license was expired (it wasn't) had that I rented a furniture dolly when I didn't. Almost forgot to give me the appliance dolly I did rent. Then set the return for a time and location I didn't want.

The truck was not clean. The cab and box had not been cleaned or trash removed. I should get a credit for returning a clean truck! Also, the truck was older and shakes slightly which transfers to the driver's seat making for an uncomfortable ride. The driver's side door seal leaks air so driving down the Interstate was loud and annoying due to the squeal that the air leak was making. This truck is past it's prime and should be replaced.

The pick up at Glenn's TV work out well, but this was a last minute change as the original location I reserved my truck was closed. I made my reservation a week in advance to pick up at Marsh a Store. With no advanced noticed, the store was closed when I arrived. Glenn's TV was an alternate choice down the road. The closed location made this a very stressful situation. We were moving my mother in law from Pleasant Grove, AL to Nashville, TN due to health issues. We had several family members lined up to help load Friday evening. Plus, my wife & I left work early Friday to get to Hueytown to pickup the truck before store closing. Fortunately for us the guy at Glenn's TV had a noshow force his only truck & he stayed past closed sing to change our reservation & get us a truck.

This was an after-hours drop off. If I had not have a smart phone, I'm not sure how we would have done it. I guess we would have waited until Monday when they were open.

Manager was not familiar with new software program used by Uhaul therefore checking in took much longer even though the reservation was made online. Then once that issue was solved his printer would not work so I left without a contract.

The location is located in a TV repair shop overrun with TV's in various state of repair. Customer service was slow and didn't seem to know that I would be returning the truck there. Parking at the site is practically non-existant.

My billing was incorrect. I was charged gas that was placed back I the vehicle, I was charged a late fee when I returned the truck a day early and was charged a ridiculous rate of gas which I had fulfilled my part of the contract with putting the gas back where I got it from the first location and my account was overdrafted and charged due to this error and inconvenience on this location's part.

Rent a truck that runs. We broke down twice and eventually had to be towed to our destination which created a disruption in my schedule for a new job. Very unpleasant experience. The personell at the location were very nice. U-Hauls problem is not its people or locations, but its equipment. I even saw two other U-Haul trucks on the road with hoods up and being worked on during our trip. So unfortunately my experience is not singular. Better Business Bureau lists around 1200 equipment complaints (soon to be 1201) for your company with a comparable 50 complaints for a competitor's company (yellow trucks). Learned my lesson and hope others can learn from my experience and rent elsewhere.

The manager at this location was outstanding. Johnny Nelson was very helpful with my questions and took care of issues that arose without me having to ask. He should be commended for his effort. I highly recommend this location and will use them again.

For customers dropping off a key when the office is closed, it would be nice to see some written instructions as to what should be done. Obviously the key goes in the drop box but there was also a slot that said contract - I only had one copy of my contract and I did not want to leave that so I dropped in an extra copy of the reservation. Apparently everything was ok as I have determined from the receipt of this email, but I would have been more comfortable with some detailed instructions.

when a 14 foot truck is requested, don't upgrade it to a 26 foot truck it requires a significant amount more gas even with the 30 allowance and it is a lot harder to handle on the road

The truck was old and rattled. The brakes need adjusting. The gas hand did not work properly. Flunctionated from 1/4 to 3/4. Only put 36 miles on the truck and we added more gas back to the reading of when we picked up the truck. Rental pickup called and made me add more gas. I will not use Uhaul again.

The gentleman who was at the desk was extraordinarily slow. It took 30 minutes to get the vehicle rented because he talked with other customers and handled car phones. His primary business is repairing tv's, not renting vehicles. On the way back with the truck loaded, the right rear outside tire blew out. Luckily this vehicle had a tandem rear setup, or we would have been stuck somewhere on the interstate waiting for u-haul to bring another tire. He did not have the regular two wheel dollies, so we had to take the appliance two wheeler. Altogether - not an enjoyable experience.

The guy at the desk acted like it was a problem when I told him the gas meter was under 1/4 of a tank. Instead of just going out of the system to see my rental he let me leave the store, go home, and come back instead of just doing what he did while I was gone from the start.

Pick a location closer to my origination point. I was 25 miles from my move location and was charged for going over my allotted mileage. Bad business.
