More informative needs to be provided to clients up front. I was charged additional fees without being advised of such in advance. For example, the need for paying for the trailer hitch and paying cash only for the product, being charged and after hours service fee for simply returning the truck in advance of my scheduled return time and being charged the insurance fee even when my MasterCard company has this coverage on my card. This information should be addressed upfront.JOHNY A.

The customer service was very bad, her name is Katia and she talked to me in a wrong way that I didn't apreciate. I am full covered by assurance company and she taxed me 15 $ . I won't never use this service and don't know why she treated me like that, may be because I am black.JALSKY D.
Location was difficult to find as it was upstairs and the contract was only in French and I am English speaking luckily my wife is French. The over the road service was good but this location didn't even make sure the truck was safe. I had to have steer tires and wiper blade changed before leaving Ottawa as I didn't notice tires needed to be changed as their condition was unsafe.MICHAEL K.

Avoid customer having to travel one hour out of town to p/u the moving van (WE BOOKED 90 DAYS AHEAD). Very disappointed especially when we have organized extra help and people waiting around. Perhaps 48 or 72 hour notice would give us valued customers a fighting chance to better organize the move.JEFFREY F.
Considering there is a Covid19 epidemic I would suggest cleaning your vehicles. The vehicle I rented had an odor of a sweaty gym bag and was full of dirt and dust. Also I reserved a vehicle from an Ottawa location and was switched to Quebec which in turn forced me to travel more kilometers than necessary effectively increasing the cost for me. The price of your smelly, dirty, single cab pickup was very high. In the recent past I have rented far more clean , luxurious and larger pickups from your competitors at a cheaper price than I was charged by your company.James K.

Fraudulent charge. I ordered and paid for 12 furniture pads but only got 6. When I told the PERSON IN CHARGE about it, they promised me that they would only charge me for 6 instead of giving me 12. But, when I got the bill I still got charged for 12 while I only got 6.Zemin Z.

Improve online check-in! It did not work at all. I showed up at location 30 minutes early but the app said I needed to wait until rental 8am to check-in. At 8am proceeded to go through the steps to pick up uhaul but the ap would not accept photo no matter how many times I tried. And yes I signed out and back in and set all permissions for the app. When that did ot work I went to the office which was supposed to open at 8am but it was locked. Waited around for 15 more minutes and went back. Once there the employee working was very slow and not attentive at all. No professionalism what so ever. None of the dollies or furniture blankets were in the truck. It took an additional 20 mins to get everything together. I think that uhaul is only popular due to your legacy and vehicles being easy to move with. If it was not for that, based on customer service and getting everything on time, uhaul would fail miserably. I will not be suggesting uhaul to anybody.Stephane B.

I showed up early over 10 minutes before my alloted rental time. The truck wasn't ready on arrival, and we did not receive the keys until 11 minutes past our alloted rental time. Your policy states we still only have until 4 hours later from the agreed upon time, and not the time that YOUR employees gave us the keys. When questioning this, your employee was short and stated we should have been early if we wanted it at the time YOU said we could have it, which we were early anyways. Also, your company charged my credit card for the ESTIMATE as soon as we checked in with the front desk, but the total later turned out to be smaller than you charged me. Now I have to call the location to solve the payment issue and get refunded the extra funds you removed which is a huge hassle.catherine D.

le "check engine" Ã©tait allumÃ©. Le fait de nous donner un rÃ©servoir Ã moitiÃ© plein rend difficile de le retourner Ã moitiÃ© plein. Cela nous oblige Ã mettre plus d'essence pour Ãªtre certain. C'est abusif. Le rÃ©servoir devrait Ãªtre plein et retournÃ© plein. L'endroit est trÃ¨s difficile Ã localiser. Une minuscule pancarte devant qu'on peut difficilement voir de la rue. On ne m'a jamais dit que les bureaux seraient fermÃ©s au retour du camion. Instructions du texto en anglais seulement. Nous sommes au QuÃ©bec. I was charged $18 for the collision damage (insurance) when I did not ask for it. I was never even asked if I wanted it, but I would have declined as I always do. I feel ripped off.MARK B.
Overcharged with booking, spent 40 minutes on hold to get it corrected only to find out I was refunded the amount but not the TAX portion that was charged. So Uhaul pocketed about $15 that is not worth my time to spend another 40 minutes on hold to resolve. A few $$ here and there adds up hey?FRANCOIS B.

It took 30 minutes to get my truck that had been reserved months in advance. Once I got to the truck, a worker who was in another truck told me that the gas level that was on my contract (1/4 tank) was wrong (the tank was almost empty), but not to worry about it. Moreover, the truck was full of used coffee cups and the inside of the box was very dirty. Furthermore, no one wore masks inside the building.Tobias B.

The locks used to secure the car key need to be replaced. I spent 20 minutes trying to get it open with the supplied code. It was extremely stressful because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to retrieve my key and there was no one inside to help me.Evan D.

There were system problems the morning I went to pick up my truck - April 24, 2021. So things were slow (30 minute wait). I don't fault the location for that. They did the best to service the customers as best they could which I believe speaks for the true nature of their service level.Hallam C.

The left turn signal in the trailer doesn't work and the trailer door needs WD40 as it got stuck several times. The woman helping me was fabulous and helped me hook up the trailer with her manager on the phone. Yay!Andre A.

Cuando recibÃ el camiÃ³n el odometro tenÃa 22 millas de mÃ¡s que lo descrito en el contrato, se lo indique a la encargada pero ella dijo que debÃa corregirlo con la ayuda del sitio web de U HAUL, lo hice y aÃºn asi me cobraron 22 millas de mas. Terrible directions (funny how we have to have signs in both English & French,across Canada,but you get to Quebec & it's ALL French...not cool,for non-bilingual ppl)...their UHaul signage was horribly miniscule...trailer wasn't ready,even though we showed up later than the 8am pick-up...& it's ridiculous that we couldn't get a trailer from a closer location to the apartment that was being moved out of.Allan S.

Took a long time to receive the vehicule. There was no windshield washer in the truck and had to buy some. One of the backlights was burned and the tires were awful. Was unable to use the vehicle during the snowstorm at all. It got stuck 3 times.PIERRE P.

Very unimpressed with our experience; our order was not made 24/7 pick up as we requested at the location and we then had to go to another province to get our truck. Even though we were accommodated with a truck it was out of our way and the person we were speaking to was rude as to why they could not have keys dropped of to us at the initial pick up site. Overall this lead to a few hours delay during an already stressful time. QuÃ©bec (the province that we had to go to to get the truck) has a 8 pm curfew due to COVID, but but because of the the delays we were not able to return the truck until after midnight. I called the police in QuÃ©bec, and they said we could get a $1000 - $4000 fine if we were caught driving in QuÃ©bec even if it was just to drop off the truck. When I called customer servicer at UHaul they said there was nothing we could do other than drop the truck off late and pay the late fees or extend by a day, either way they suggested we ask for a refund for the second day. We would like a refund for the 2nd day as a result of UHaul's mistakes.Chrystal-Lynne S.

J'ai reÃ§u deux appels en Ã peine une heure (9h42 et 10h36) pour me demander si je prenais toujours le camion, alors que je l'avais rÃ©servÃ© pour 9h30. BIEN SUR que je le prends toujours: je l'ai rÃ©servÃ©! Un peu harcelant comme faÃ§on de procÃ©der. Vous devriez indiquer plus clairement que nous disposons d'une fenÃªtre de seulement 15 minutes pour rÃ©cupÃ©rer le camion aprÃ¨s l'heure de rÃ©servation... Ce n'est vraiment pas clair cette politique. De plus, le prÃ©posÃ© qui m'a accueilli ne portait pas de masque de protection, ce qui est contraire Ã la loi. Pas impressionnÃ© du tout...Maxime B.

We had a small issue with the truck itself. It was an 8' bed pickup, which was what we needed, but there was a bar welded across the top of the bed, about a foot or so from the cab. The 8' truck bed we were expecting was much shorter due to that bar, and it made our moving task more difficult. Obviously, this is not a complaint against the location. I also have no way of knowing if those bars are standard. It would have been good to know before the rental, however.CATHERINE B.

Better than most other uhaul locations. Service was slow, and I had to redo the check in process despite doing the online check in. Posted times on their door doesn't not correspond to what the uhaul site saysTimothy Z.
It was impossible to find the place by car and we had to park down the street and walk to find the office which had a tiny sign and no instructions on where the cars are. We found the trucks by pure luck and even then couldn't get in because the office wasn't open on time. Then we were told we had signed up to pick up the truck with a mobile app which neither of us had and there was no instructions telling us this. Not that it would have mattered because they didn't have the truck ready for our 7:30am pickup time, Wich was the latest time they had available. So we were an hour and a half late to start our move and it cut into our reserved elevator time which caused even further delays when we ran out the clock. And of course U-Haul still had to have the truck back in time despite giving it to us late so we didn't have time to fully pack the truck and did the rest with a small car. In the end the move that was meant to be done by 1:30pm wasn't complete until 11pm. Improve by sticking to the schedules you set, providing clear location details, and clear direction beyond "sign in and hope".Nathan C.

Please install clear, larger signage outside rental location: U-Haul storefront was not well labelled and was difficult to find. Please ensure representatives follow Covid-19 regulations: Service representative did not wear a face mask and was coughing during face-to-face interaction. Please provide contract in both official languages: Contract was only provided in French and was difficult to understand. Please ensure truck is clean before rental: There was a dried spill on the floor and residual gasoline odor in the truck when I received it. Please ensure U-Haul website is working for after-hours return: After-hour return website wasn't working during the vehicle return, resulting in a waste of 1.5 hours of my time to confirm on the phone that the truck had been returned on time and I would not be charged for late return.Rebecca C.

Je comprends que la personne responsable a vÃ©cu une urgence et j'ai reÃ§u le vÃ©hicule avec une heure de retard. Cependant, je crois qu'Il est possible de dÃ©velopper un protocol au sein de l'organisation pour faire face Ã ce genre de situation. Je me suis faite dire par le commis Ã la rÃ©ception qu'il y aurait un retard de 10 minutes, alors que finalement cela a Ã©tÃ© une heure. Aussi le commis Ã la reception ne semblait pas Ãªtre intÃ©ressÃ© a aider plus que cela. On aurait dit qu'il ne faisait que le minimum. Par chance, j'ai demandÃ© Ã un employÃ© qui entrait au bureau si c'Ã©tait lui qui Ã©tait responsable pour le service U-haul.. Il m'a dit que non mais qu'il s'en occuperait. Very strange office for a rental pick-up (in the back where there are rows of office cubicles, in COVID times even more strange). Truck smelled of cigarette smoke, interior had garbage and dirt from prior user, damage to roof of truck that was not reported on the existing damage report.
