First of all. I only had the truck for 1 day, I returned it almost 3 hrs. Earlier than I thought it would be. I was unable to scan the QR code needed to check it in. The agent couldn't do it either. I left without him ever checking the mileage and he said he'd do it later. I never received any paperwork when I took possession, nor when I returned it. I called the 800 # I received no help either; I was told the store was closed but I'd need to go back there to close it out. I returned and the agent had me go out and get the mileage and gas gauge amount. I put in more gas than I received it with. It was below 1/2 a tank and I returned with more than that. I tracked the mileage with my car and it was 9.9 miles. I've used U-haul many times over the years and have NEVER had these issues. I was never told I had to return it the same day if I was to be charged for one day (instead I was charged for 2 despite the fact that I returned a good 3 hrs prior to the time I said I might be returning it) I returned by 4 pm but was unable to get it closed. The â€œsafe charge was $30, not the $5 I was quoted. This was terrible service and no information at all was given to me otherwise it would have been checked in earlier. There should NOT be charges of $114. Without applicable taxes my charges should equal $42.77, no where near $114. I'm highly disappointed in all aspects of this transaction and what little customer service I received on the phone and at the Valero. I further returned the vehicle cleaner than it was when I received it.barbra T.

The worst service ever. These people charged me for 2 days. I rented a truck and returned it within 90 minutes. They acknowledged that it was returned within 90 minutes but yet insisted that they had to charge me for 2 days. There are 24 hours in a day and 48 hours in 2 days. DO NOT waste your time or maybe your money using this location. Unbelievably horrible experience!Wilberforce A.

The Gardner location is very inconvenient. It cost me an additional 60 to 70 miles round trip. If you live in the Kansas City area, don't waste your time driving to Gardner. Just postpone your move until a vehicle become available closer to home.Eric D.

They had 1 person running the gas station and the U-Haul. The person was ignoring the U-Haul customers to help the gas station customers first as they kept coming in. Waited at least 20 minutes before even being helped because of it and we had people waiting to help us.CURTIS F.
It took over an hour and three different rental agreements and multiple calls to the employees boss before he finally figured out how to rent me the truck I had already reserved (my reservation got cancelled as one of the three attempts at getting the truck checked out to me). Additionally the back tires on the truck were all but completely bald leaving me stuck multiple times on my driveway that is not paved. Luckily I was able to use my truck and a tow strap to get unstuck but it would have been nice to not need to. Overall this was the worst uhaul rental experience I've ever had. I will stick to the Olathe location from now on if I'm renting anywhere near Gardner again.Mark S.

The truck was dirty and I was only able to have the truck until 3pm because uhaul double booked the truck in error. Next time I need to rent a moving truck I will use a different company.David S.
Drove all the way out to Gardner (25 minutes from my home). Got there and they didn't have the ball I had reserved. Had to drive to auto store and buy a $40.00 ball. Got everything hooked up and lights didn't connect. The lady trying to help me had customers at the gas station and couldn't do it all! She called the boss, I got on the phone and he was incredibly rude to me, honestly out of control! I had to unhook everything, go back to the auto store to buy an adaptor for lights to work. Came back, hooked it up. She didn't know what she was doing. Not her fault, she just hadn't been trained. Went back to the auto store so nice guy inside could reattach trailer because as I suspected, it wasn't on right! EVEN THOUGH....when I talked to the 1-800 number I made sure they would know how to attach and would have a ball!!!!! HORRIBLE PLACE! Will NEVER rent through them and maybe even UHAUL again! My $18.00 rental fee came with a $40.00 ball and hitch and a $15.00 light adaptor!Michele S.

This location is not a U-Haul building with supplies, but actually a Valero gas station. The attendant had to call someone at U-Haul when I arrived. There were a few trailers set off to the side of the gas station. I checked in over the phone. Be aware that you will need to hook up the trailer yourself - I thought someone would be there. It was not easy to do by myself, so I suggest a 2nd person come with you. I did arrive early, so that may have been the issue. You will also need to unhook the trailer yourself. Due to a heavy moving weekend, my original reservation was not guaranteed to have the trailer I reserved when I arrived, so I had to find a location nearby. Not an optimal experience, but I understand it is hard to control when people return trailers.LOU H.

The employee was not trained on how to reimburse a customer a deposit when a cash payment was made. The employee attempted to reach a member of management to ask about procedure in this case, manager did not answer phone. Management should train the staff better and they should check if the staff knows how to do UHaul returns, if they don't, they need to get trained so the customer returning the equipment and the customers of the establishment can have a smooth and quick experience.Rachel T.

They were closed when I returned the truck, so really it's hard to say. There was a dropbox so that worked fine...there just wasn't a lot of room to return on a Saturday. Part of that might be my fault as I guess I didn't really research the best location to drop off.Michael A.
