Would I recommend U-haul to a friend maybe. I called to rent a vehicle carrier and was told to my nearest location would be Brunswick Maine as I live in Lewiston the Auburn facility was not available. I was never told a specific time to pick it up. I called Brunswick the day before to verify my item would be ready because I had a long-distance to get my vehicle. Around 9 am a Gardner Facility called and told me I was late to pick up the item this is about 20 miles in the opposite direction from where I was going. I don't know why or how my item got switched to another facility after I already called to verify my Brunswick location. This became very stressful and I needed to rush even more to get to my location whereas I had less time. If I had to rate my experience with u-haul that day from a 1 to 10 as 10 being the best I'd give it a 3.DENIS B.

2 tires on the trailer were worn down to the wear bars and had some cracking, the other 2 were new.. Location was closed for drop off Sunday so I did the online check in but that apparently doesn't work very well because I was charged 20.00 late drop off even though I dropped it off early and they have cameras to check. I would rate this as my worst experience with U-haul so far and I've used them about 5 times so far . I did get the owners to reverse the 20.00 fee though after calling. The people who own the business are nice people the experience was mostly on U-Haul.joshua T.

Explanation on how to do self check in. I was back early but charged a late fee. I was not told I had to take pictures before I left the yard. It is just a way for u haul to justify charging 20 dollars. Not happy.daniel S.

The owner was misinformed about towing capacity of my vehicle, claimed to know all about it and told me what I was doing was dangerous. He was wrong. I know this because I checked--before the rental and after. He was wrong also about the empty weight of *his own* trailer, over-estimating it by about 750 lbs. Just because I did not show up in a quarter-ton or half-ton pickup does not mean I'm an idiot or some city slicker, and he needs to check his facts before he opens his mouth with advice. His wife, the brains behind the operation, it seems, was fine with it. That's because the U-Haul website is preloaded with the GVW and tow cap for my make and model. She double-checked online and the rental went forward. But Mr. Expert had to give me a hard time about it.THOMAS B.

Overall good experience, but there were three things that I did not like: 1) I first reserved a truck for a one-way rental and originally it didn't tell me what time the truck had to be returned on the second day, so I figured it could be returned at any time that next day. Only when I went into the app to make sure everything was set was I told the truck had to be returned exactly 24 hours later, so I needed to cancel that reservation and make a 2-day local rental, which cost me more. Please fix the system so that it shows the dropoff TIME while making the reservation. 2) when I picked up the truck with the app, there was no way to remove SafeMove from the reservation, even though I definitely did not want it on there, and since I had people coming to help move stuff, I didn't have time to call and fix it (and the store I was picking up from was closed at the time). 3) The reservation mentioned I would be called before the start of the reservationto confirm, but I never once got a phone call.Adam J N.

We were told from our pickup location we had the truck all day. When we returned the truck, we were told we were supposed to have returned it by 12 noon. However, we didn't even pick it up until 1pm. The person who accepted the truck from us told us we would be getting charged an extra day due to this lack of communication. One whole day for returning the truck at 4pm when we were told we had until 5pm. Somebody needs to get their facts straight. Due to the chaos and lack of organization of this rental, I will NEVER rent from uhaul again and will go out of my way to tell people to do the same.Steven H.
The owners were awesome, patient, and kind to such novices, especially as the world tries to adapt to new methods of doing business at a distance and the use of computers is more prevalent then ever. We had a hard time after hours trying to get the van checked back in and close out our account, unfortunately, we were not successful. I called them to ask a question and the wife explained she had to finish the process, and did so w/o charging us the additional days, as the van was showing still in use and unable to be rented. It's rare to find such kindness today as everyone is so stressed so I give this establishment 5 Stars overall. ðŸ˜€Marianne H.

Very nice people! The 10 foot truck was just right for our needs and easy to drive.Judith S.
First we drove to the rental building and we're supposed to be able to pick up the truck with our smartphone. The phone told us our rental had expired so we were sitting in the parking lot trying to troubleshoot why we couldn't get the truck. Out came one of the workers who was immediately rude and treated us as if we were infectious. We maintained over 6 ft of separation and quickly put a mask on. we were not expecting to see anybody as we thought this would be done online but once we realize we needed help we stuck a mask on. The worker continued to be rude, telling me repetitively to just keep clicking refresh which is what I was doing. He then grabbed my smartphone out of my hand and said I don't understand I don't see where it says that it was expired. I pointed out to him where the reservation said that and he then made a sarcastic comment back. He made us feel like we were wasting his time and that we were stupid. This whole process then made us late which affected multiple people that were supposed to be helping us. When my husband went back to return the truck later that day he continued to be rude. My husband's phone was dead when he brought it back but the shop was still open so my husband asked for help returning the truck since he didn't have access to his phone. The man told us he wasn't sure if he would be able to help. I truly think that this was because he was scared of contracting the Coronavirus and actually did know how to operate the computer system. We are very disappointed with the service that we received. I am not the type of person to write a review and I get along with just about every person I meet I usually give people the benefit of the doubt but this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I unfortunately will not be returning to this U-Haul location or any U-Haul location.Amy T.

The only thing that needs to be improved is the way credit cards are processed it took my money then now it's putting my money back and now I owe on this truck and I tried to call the one 800 number to use my checking account info just to get this resolved and they won't take it if anyone can help me feel free to call 207-406-0398Mary D.
Uhaul customer service informed me that I had notes in the system when I tried to return the truck but my phone service would not allow service. When I tried to check the truck in from home the system would not let me and I was charged for 3-15-20 when I returned the truck on 3-14-20 at 6:30pm. I will dispute the chargestephen C.

When I arrived at my scheduled pick-up time, the first thing I noticed in the yard was the size truck was 5 feet smaller than I had scheduled (not this location's fault - I understand - but I still have a bone to pick about that). After entering, I stood at the counter several minutes before anyone tended to me. It was as if they were not expecting me. When I questioned why the truck size I had requested wasn't there - even after a text & email confirmation from a U-Haul Rep that it would be there - I was told that I do not "understand how U-haul works." They made me feel like I was in the wrong when I was not. I have the text/emails from the Rep and none of them say they changed my truck size to a 15-footer. I also had to request, while filling out paperwork, that they get the U-Haul started up for me, as it was completely frozen and knew it would need to defrost before driving off. Ended up leaving with my U-haul about 20 minutes past my pick-up time. I've had U-haul pick-up locations prepared and waiting for me when I arrived, with the snow even brushed off and the truck defrosting. I recommend the Gardiner location have the U-Haul trucks ready for pick-up and at least keep an eye out for the customer during their scheduled time. Time is precious, especially on moving days when - most likely - you have moving help hired to start at a specific time.Christopher W.

The folks at Gardiner Rental were very friendly, despite it being early morning when others might be a little cranky. They were thorough and efficient in their dealings with me and pickup and drop-off was very simple! It's unfortunate that I didn't make the reservation directly through them as they only get a percentage of the credit for the rental and reservation.Jeremy C.
