The self service was very time consuming and annoying, the app closed out constantly, causing you to start over. You then had to wait for your contact to be called. It would have been faster to drive to a further away location that allowed checking out in person.

Amazing and quick process
WILLIAM PDrop off was easy. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Raymond DWhen I called ahead to let them know I wasn't going to be there at 10 the lady said as long as you are here before 12 when the office closes at 12. I arrived at the location at 1150 and no one was in the office. The office was a mess with personal items all over the place and 2 dogs were inside. I had to use the restroom when I was there and the female bathroom didn't work so I had to use the men's. OH MY GOD!!!! It was so gross like it hadn't been cleaned in a year and there was also personal items in the bathroom. I swear the lady in charge lives there. When checking out she didn't do a walk through with the truck just gave me the keys and the check engine light was on. I was also not informed if I returned the truck early I would get refunded some money, I only found this out when turning in the truck to a new location with my one way drop off.
sonyha fThe location was closed when i got there. Trying to check in with the app, the building was not close enough to the out side of the locked gate for it to detect you being at the pick up site. Piss poor layout. I literally had to sit there for almost an hour trying to get someone on the phone with your customer service department to assist me with being able to check in and get the keys out of the lock box. Then the area is not a very safe or secure location. So i had to drive my vehicle home, after picking up the keys. Then wait for a ride to come and get me to take me back to the truck. In total, between waiting for customer service then getting a ride back, cost me almost 2 hours of my time. The agent at the location i did my reservation was not much help. I was told they didnt have trucks, that i should have got a call to let me know of the actual pick up spot. I never got a call. Also there were multiple other locations in Fredericksburg that would have worked better than where i was sent. But because no one called me i was not given an option. All in all it was a total bull crap process. I lost two hours of packing up wednesday and had to rush thursday to get the truck back in a timely manner. Total inconvience as i was not able to get everything done i needed to. The only reason im ok with a 1 star review is bc the truck was clean.
Barry SI was a little leery to just leave the trailer in front of the locked gate, but it was after hours. And it was obviously the right place, because the lockbox and signage was there. I did not see any personnel, but this comment page won't let me say "not applicable."

Teresa PI have lost my desire to utilize UHaul again. First, the 1600 Howard Road is a pickup location and need a passcode which took over 3 hours to obtain through numerous calls through customer as 2 live employers at the Howard Road location bypass with the gesture "cannot help you" combined later finding the system "had crashed" I was told at a nearby location that they had no record of my reservation, Decent drop 6-10-24 but if need to haul or move again, UH will not even be considered.

John ZThe fact that I could not get my uhaul near my house was upsetting. I booked months in advance being called the day before to tell me that it was going to be 40 miles away just ruined our whole trip. Not to mention the bad information. I was told I could pick up the tow dolly with my rav four but when I got there 45 miles from my house I was told that was incorrect. I'm not sure I will ever use uhaul again it was a nightmare.

So much so we are going to look at alternative companies since we need to rent another truck in two weeks. We wasted about 45 min trying to check out, downloaded app multiple times and it kept crashing. Eventually we left truck not knowing if we had checked it out. Called 800# waited another 45 min. The girl was helpful and got my pix uploaded to your site. Then learned the next day we were charged $25 for cleaning just because we didn't fold the blankets. All in all not a great experience.

MICHAELJEFFREY RWe were told from pick up point truck had a 1/2 tank (it did) when returning to Frederickbrug va location girl said it was at 9/16's yes one 16th more. They charged us 22.50$ because we brought it back at 1/2 tank. Petty and left a bad taste. Plus girl was unprofessional. A little nasty when questioned. DALE NUHaul Reservation Issue: I indicated on both the initial reservation and at time of check-in that I would return the truck to the Howard Ave location. Why did U-Haul contact me while I was driving to confirm the return location?

Karen UI was not allowed in the office, however once I looked around I didn't feel safe going into the office! She had a gate at the door to keep her dogs in the office. The office was a hoarders office. There was so much stuff she had made paths from the door to her desk and to another part of the room. I made to sign at the door. She requested my credit card. I have rented from Uhaul before on line and have never been asked for my credit card. I refused to provide. She didn't press the issue. The office is located in a place where you have to follow signs to get to it with no reference to Uhaul. I asked her to email my paperwork to me. Once I had time to open the email approximately 45 min the time had expired so I could not open it. My experience was totally UNACCEPTABLE! I will never rent from this place again.

Walter HThis location was closed when I returned my rental at 3:00pm on 9/13/2020. There was a small sign affixed to the bolted gate that said "closed for a medical appointment". It was not the drop-off location that I had selected when I made my reservation, so I was already frustrated that I had to go that far out of my way only to find no one there. Added to that, the online system was not working on my mobile device and it took 20 minutes on hold to speak to someone and get it resolved.

Aaron GI'm not sure on the staff since I dropped the unit off after hours, but, the lot was closed so I had to park on the street. The fence looked to be in need of repair and the neighborhood did not seem to be a great place to leave a truck and trailer not under lock and key.
MIKE NWe did have a "check engine" light on for the entire duration of our trip. No issue. We were advised in advance that this existed and had been checked prior to our trip. We reported it upon drop off. The only problem I did experience was the HEATER (cab heater) did not work when I needed it for defrost during a storm. I had tried it earlier to slightly "temper" the AC when it got too cold (by turning the temp knob up a little - then a lot) and it did not produce any heat. Then again - during the storm, the windshield began to fog up and I turned on front windshield defrost and fan and heat all the way up and no heat, which momentarily created a dangerous situation. UPON RETURN OF THE TRUCK, of course, I turned up the heat knob and it created plenty of heat. I reported to the return site and explained it was an intermittent issue. He believed me , but I hope the issue presents itself so it can be repaired.

I've braver been to such a uhaul office in my years of moving across the county. Please have this office correct there ways or revoke their franchise. It's very unprofessional and not healthy for customers.
Cain JThe night dropoff was scetchy there was a box for night dropoff bit unclear instructions. I called the 800 number and was not given much help on what to do. I would suggest that you have a data base that locations could put instructions for after hour dropoff. So when you call and ask they can look it up and tell you what to do for that location.
