Store clerk is incompetent and delayed my pickup by an hour. I was there at 8:55am and went in to pick up the keys at exactly 9am. I showed the guy the truck number on my phone and he kept asking me if I already paid, then called his boss, then called the U-haul number and waited on hold for 15 minutes without giving me the key. When he finally got through and I got the key, I discovered that the truck was stuck in the mud and surrounded on 3 sides by vehicles and a fence. I called the U-haul number and they changed my reservation to a new truck at the same location. They stayed on the line with me while I went inside to get the keys for the new truck. The front desk guy made a whole bunch more trouble, delaying me even more and I wasn't able to leave the location until 10am. Horrible experience.Ben K.

So when I picked up my equipment I had to wait a long time because it was at a gas station, and the person working was about to get off. So I had to wait longer for their shift change. Then I had to hook up the auto transport to the truck myself, and one of the straps was broken.Ruben D.

Cashier had no clue how to do my check in even though I gave her the confirmation number. The check in process took almost 30 minutes luckily because another worker who was off duty happened to be in the store and jumped in to help. The van maintenance light for needing an oil change was on when I turned engine over.Lisa M.
The pick-up was fine, but the return was unacceptable. I stopped at the pumps to top off. There was no one to turn on the pumps and when I went into the store there was no one in the store. Finally, a young man came out and I told him I was getting gas. He said ok. Remember, I was getting gas for the U-Haul van from THEIR his location. After waiting another 5 minutes at the pump, without the pump being turned on, I walked back into the store and told him that the pump wasn't turned on. His comment, " You have to pre-pay." I asked why he didn't tell me when I was originally in there. He just shrugged.Michael F.
One employee running the register of this convenience store. There's was no U-Haul employee to either assist with equipment. No one available to help with returning of equipment. Systems were down. This was not my first location. I arrived at my first location and they said they were full. This second location was very much a self serve. Although I didn't mind that, I had no experience removing the trailer. I managed to do it. However, I didn't get any sort of paperwork / confirmation that I had safely returned the rental. A bit concerning however, if Uhaul doesn't mind and won't charge me extra. I am fine with it. I was glad there was a second location near by.TORY JAMES C.
Items were missing from order - No packing blankets or hand truck as ordered, no pig tail to connect lights to vehicle. I had to connect the trailer myself due to no employee dedicated to UHaul, one employee on staff running counter for store. Had this been the double axle trailer, I would not have been able to connect it by myself. Upon returning trailer, employee did not know how to process, and online return was not working. I had to hang around the area for a couple of hours until another employee came in to get the trailer checked back in. UNACCEPTABLE.William D.

I paid $10 for 10 blankets when I reserved the truck online. When I picked up the truck they didn't have any blankets. When I returned the truck in Plano, TX, I didn't get my $10 back, plus I was billed another dollar for not returning any blankets! Seriously?!RANDY G.
When I arrived at the location I was told â€œI don't have a dolly for you. And only have 7 of the blue moving blankets.â€ I told the independent Shell station owner I need that dolly. He told me I can check with other local Uhaul dealers to see if they had a dolly. I told him that is not my problem and my reservation was confirmed. He seemed like he didn't care. I waited for him o complete paperwork it seemed I had already done while customers came in. He left his computer and proceeded to assist others that came in after me. It took 17 minutes from my arrival before I was given the key to leave. I had a contract that specified due to covid rapid checkout. I completed all paperwork ahead of time, checked in early online, and the day before received a phone call to specifically very my exact reservation. He never came outside to look at the rental. He gave me the keys and said it was parked outback. I have rested from this location prior. I will never rent from this location nor use Uhaul again I will assume this evaluation will fall upon deaf ears. It was one of the poorest customer service experiences of my life. I have used Uhaul for years. If this is not addressed with this specific location then Uhaul has a management issue. He told me and according to him â€œwe are privately owned and not by Uhaulâ€ . Other customers were in the store and I was marginalized in front of them. What would you expect having confirmed a specific rental and are told at pickup time that the contract is not able to be fulfilled? I will wait for a response that I expect will never occur.Rock L.

I was frustrated I had to go in. I did everything beforehand so I could do mobile checking. With the current state of the country (coronavirus closures), I was hoping to minimize contact. Things weren't working, so I had to go in the store. Luckily, the store required masks, but the 3 people that came after me did not have one. Even though I entered all my information in the computer beforehand, including my payment, I had to do everything again in the store! It took about 15 minutes.Daniel J.

Selected contactless pickup in my reservation but still had to go inside to get the keys. Store was very run down inside and clerk was very rude and bothered she had to stop what she was doing to help us. (Soda machine was also the dirtiest i has ever seen but that's not uhaul's fault). Van was unlocked when we got in it which I thought was weird. Uhaul app was very slow and the whole process took much longer the expected. However the 9' van was very well taken care of. Brand new windshield and clean inside! Also got much better gas mileage then expected. Would rate my experience overall 2.5/5.Samuel T.

They couldn't find the keys for the original vehicle. When I was put in a new vehicle, the gas gauge did not reflect what was on the contract. I have been charged for fuel that I did not use.Christopher O.

The trailer connectors for the lights could be better and the winches on the transport trailer were very rusty did not function well to the point where I had to use my own personal straps I would not buy from this location ever again I don't think it's worth spending $69 for a rental if I could receive a refund that would be greatbilly H.

Currently in process of a double charge. I rented one truck for a 4 mile job, and got charged a fuel up (despite refilling it) and got charged for two trucks. The truck also had a full bucket of paint in it (?!?) and had paint footprints everywhere. In talks with uhaul about refunding. But I have a feeling that this place tried to pull a fast one on me. Go to another location if you can (sunset bowling guy is always nice and fair).Jacob C.
Here's the deal- i got to the place where i wanted to drop off and they had too small a lot, had one big truck and 2 small trailers and they would not let me park there- this was located on Hwy 80 in San marcos, i had to find another place which had a big lot, but they could have cared less if i got out in s timely manner, i waited for the staff to get their personal stuff done before i got checked out - so there you go, the truck worked fine thoughJay C.

Crack going all the way across windshield, oil change light flashing, low tire pressure light on. I went back in to inform of low pressure. He said okay but sent me on my way. So I drove over to an air fill up, one tire 85lbs, another tire 25lbs (front tires show should be 52lb). The tire had a nail in it. Lastly the truck was filthy.Tim G.

This was a convenience store. The attendant took preference to the customers coming in so it took almost 2 hours for us. He kept asking for a second phone # that didn't work. He then told us to rent it on line. It was obvious that he didn't know how to fill out the rental. I was then billed twice for the rental $69.25 which I agreed and $154.05 when I returned the trailer. So it cost me 223.30 to rent an auto transport trailer for 6 hoursRonald B.

Include disclaimer that renter is expected to load own trailer at third party locations. Have customer service reps follow through with their declared actions. I was left hanging at the location awaiting regional customer service help as specified; however, they had gone home for the day and failed to close me out. Arrived at 8:45am, 15 minutes before our scheduled drop-off time. The store hours claimed to open at 8am but it was closed. We waited until 9am and no one showed up. Finally we gave up and submitted our return online. We left the location at 9:20am and no one had shown up still.Bailey B.
I ordered 3 dozen furniture pads and they were not with the trunk nor did this location have any. I was sent to another location in San Marcos for the pads and they don't even stick them. They told me I would have to drive to New Braunfels to get pads. I was in a time schedule to get the trunk back to my house for loading. I had hired helpers to come load it. I had my cousin go buy pads at Home Depot and bring them to me. That was an unexpected cost of $150. Not happy.Janice D.

We had a reservation. After driving an hour he told us that it was not recommended to use that equipment with the vehicle we had. After he rejected us, I called UHaul and they resolved the problem. Also, since it was a convenience store he kept saying if you were there for U-Haul service you had to wait. He had to help the store customers first. Even if you had been in line and waiting and you were next you had to step aside and he would help the store customer.norma Q.
The person at the location had no knowledge how to take the car off the car carrier and again I had to do all the work to get the vehicle unhooked by crawling on the ground and unhooking everything. It would be nice that Uhaul would warn the customer about all this dirty work.Donald P.

Only one person manning a uhaul dealer and a gas station. Uhauls system is terrible in regards to transferring notes. First off I had to go to another location because the first location told me that I wasn't going to have what I needed. So they went ahead and put told me to pick it up at another location and when I did none of the information that they have told me over the phone transferred over. I was told that I was going to get 33 miles and I was going to get mileage at $0.40 a mile. I was not told over the phone that it had to be one way in order for that to be applied. When I told the attendant she called but the gentleman on the phone wasn't clear enough to tell her how she was supposed to fix it. If I do use U-Haul in the future I will be going to an actual U-Haul location instead of a certified dealer. Or go to another Logistics provider other than U-HaulAlberto R.
