The mobile pickup experience is terrible. The website crashes constantly.

Dealing with the rental only working online was a pain. I signed in, gave all my info and my credit card. I never got a confirmation to my email or phone. Then had to waste time at the rental location taking photos... I think I’m just going to buy a truck so I don’t have to deal with this BS

Not only will I not be renting from this location again, I will be moving my family members to a different storage company too. I have rented a dozen trucks over the years and this was the absolute worst experience I have ever encountered. I was an hour late but still within my rental time, so my reservation was cancelled. This is not acceptable. I called after being prompted by the checkin site, was told by the 'regional manager' that I swore. I don't think I did, but apologized anyway. Then she proceeded to attempt to lecture me further in some sort of attempt to provoke me. This is also not acceptable. I was then made to wait an additional 15 minutes for a new reservation time. This isn't acceptable. After finding my rental truck I discovered that it's dirty. There was sand in the bed, on the bumper, and the windshield was dirty. So, I called customer service talked with the same person. She offered to find me another truck at another location. I was short on time, so I just rented the dirty one. I was not offered anything in compensation for renting a dirty truck. I was moving a bed and would prefer to not get it dirty with sand. So I had to sweep out the truck and buy a plastic cover. Not acceptable. I could go on, but I'll just leave it there.

The pickup location was great, but I did the "truckshare" using my cell phone and the process was terrible. It took 15 minutes AFTER I entered all of my information for a customer service rep to "approve" my documents (it took them 15 minutes to even look at my documents). U-haul's poor attempt at imitating Uber seems to be a complete failure

make sure to let customers know: 1. they need to have someone to be called and verified by Uhaul. this was a bit of a surprise and we had to find someone up to answer the call. 2. alert renters there will be a number of pictures to be taken with your cell phone. overall, however, great experience.

The U-Haul check out process is slow, repetitive, and for what ever reason your people wanted a 3rd party verification of me. I have used you before, I have excellent credit, and an excellent driving record. I was ill prepared to answer your silly questions and we wasted 20 mninutes before your person/system decided I was ok... NEVER AGAIN!!

The location was great, but - not to mince words - the app stinks (and I'm a software developer). I spent a half hour trying to return my truck with the app. Each time, when I checked if the truck was clean (and then it asked for pictures), it would send me right back to the start (as though I hadn't entered anything. If for some reason it can't accept a picture, why not have the user try again, rather than making them start the whole process over again. It did that several times when I checked out the truck as well, but it wasn't a show stopper then. This time it was: I ultimately had to call the 1-800 number -- where's there's no help for checking a truck out via the app on the menu and you get bounced to four different people before finally getting you the truck share people. That was incredibly frustrating. You need to fix your application, U-Haul, before your customers go elsewhere.
